Are Monday’s Ncaa basketball champions headed to the White House?
After beating Gonzaga 71-65 in the national title game, North Carolina coach Roy Williams didn’t sound very excited about the prospect of meeting President Donald Trump during the winners’ traditional visit to D.C.
“The office of the presidency of the United States is the most fantastic place you can be,’’ Williams said after the title game. “But let me think on it.’’

After three weeks of action, 68 teams and millions of busted brackets, the 2017 Ncaa Tournament came down to east vs. west as Unc took on Gonzaga Monday night. The Tar Heels came out victorious with a final score of 71-65 as Roy Williams’ team made up for the heartbreaking buzzer-beater loss to Villanova last year, a victory which the coach attributed to their motto for the season: “tough enough.” Unc is now just the fourth team to lose the national championship but come back to win it the next year. After a summer of sport The United Kingdom, especially London at times feels like it’s clinging onto the high that was achieved in those weeks. We’ve even had the government trying to use that uplifting feeling to sell what they see as their “brand”, where of course the people see it as their country. Enough of politics though or I’d be complaining for a few thousand words. The fact is the Olympics were a great success, and if you want to bring back some of that magic Fast Girls may be the perfect film for you.
Using the background of athletics Fast Girls look at the relationship between two girls, Shania and Lisa.

Fast Girls, a film about a British women's sprint relay team, might just repeat the success of the 1981 Oscar winner
When the film director Hugh Hudson and producer David Puttnam sought the perfect cast to play the athletes in Chariots of Fire, they wanted relative unknowns in the lead roles. Their strategy worked: the film went on to win four Oscars in 1981, earning the status of a British classic.
The director and producer of Fast Girls, a new British film about the UK athletics team, started from the same principle and with hope for the same outcome. Regan Hall, a New Zealander directing his first feature film, was determined to find young actresses who could be credible as elite athletes.

Last week, we took a look at the relative dearth of leading men in Hollywood: why Tom Cruise, Will Smith, et al. remain at the top of the tree and why so few serious competitors have emerged since. But one of the most exciting things about our job is getting to watch the new names that emerge, breakouts who have the potential to join the A-listers, or at the very least, deliver a host of hugely exciting performances for decades to come.
So we've decided to kick off our On The Rise selection for 2012 by looking at some of the actors who we're tipping for big things in the next few years. Last time we made these kinds of picks and predictions we did pretty well, listing the likes of Joel Edgerton, Edgar Ramirez, Jason Sudeikis, Adam Scott, Jake Johnson and David Oyelowo who have all gone on to become much-sought-after names,...

With British theatre looking backwards, even the one new play that almost everyone enjoyed was a skilful reworking of an 18th-century classic
The British theatre is living off its past. Just think of the plays that left a strong impression in 2011: Caryl Churchill's Top Girls (1982), Harold Pinter's Betrayal (1978), Edward Bond's Saved (1965), Arnold Wesker's The Kitchen (1959) and his Chicken Soup With Barley (1958), and Terence Rattigan's Flare Path (1942). Even the one new play that almost everyone enjoyed, Richard Bean's One Man, Two Guvnors, was a skilful reworking of an 18th-century classic.
I admired Mike Bartlett's 13 at the National and Alan Ayckbourn's Neighbourhood Watch in Scarborough for their ability, in very different ways, to reflect the tenor of the times. Two other old hands, David Hare with South Downs and David Edgar with Written on the Heart, turned in highly accomplished pieces. But, even...

Upon penning the erotic lyrics to her chart-topping hit "Motivation" earlier this year, Kelly Rowland's real motivation for the song's concept may have spawned from her admiration for sex shops among other things.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mirror, the Grammy Award-winning songstress revealed how much she loved adult entertainment stores. "You can't keep me away from a good sex shop," she said. "Those are interesting places. I go with a bunch of people that way no one recognizes me."
Although the 30-year-old Destiny's Child singer may appear more liberated now than previous years, the X-Factor judge still keeps a close guard on her heart. Since separating from her former fiance and Dallas Cowboys star Roy Williams six years ago Rowland claims that she "don't take crap" from anyone when it comes to dating, and added that she doesn't plan on having children until she is "crazy in love.

NFL players are still waiting for training camp to start as the labor lockout continues, but Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Roy Williams still made the news this week. He is trying to recover an engagement ring reportedly worth more than $76,000 from former Miss Texas, and his former girlfriend, Brooke Daniels. Thursday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7Am on NBC), Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb discussed whether someone in Daniels' position should give the ring back, and agreed that she should.
"I just think it seems very wrong to keep something that was supposedly this symbol of your agreement," said Gifford. Kotb said if Williams had broken it off, it might be a different story. In that situation, Kotb herself might keep the ring (Gifford said Kotb's boyfriend should take note of that).

With the 2011 football season at risk due to the current NFL lockout, players are keeping busy in more ways that one. QBs Tom Brady, Peyton Manning and Drew Brees, among several other players, have filed lawsuits against the NFL in an attempt to block the lockout, while some other players are using their free time to give back.
10 players including Adrian Peterson, Bryant McKinnie, Santonio Holmes, Vernon Davis and Roy Williams spent a week in Uganda aiding locals, according to TMZ. The footballers helped out in a wide variety of ways, including digging water wells for schools, putting in time at a local nursery and even fitting over 3,000 people with hearing aids. Whether you know it or not two men are responsible for some of the greatest songs to grace classic Disney films (and thus your childhood) like Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and The Jungle Book. That’s really just the tip of the iceberg, because the Sherman brothers, known warmly to many as “The Boys”, were the driving force behind many of Disney’s famous musical masterpieces of yesteryear (before the days of Tim Rice and Elton John). Starting as two independently focused brothers that discover they have a knack for songwriting when they pair their talents, Robert (a would-be author) and Richard (a musician through and through) soon caught the ear of Walt Disney and started a career that catapulted them to songwriting fame. Yet despite their joint success, “The Boys” always had fierce independent streaks that proved a wedge at every step and kept their families far apart.
