When country artist, author and advocate for foster children Jimmy Wayne was approached by the Krystal fast-food chain about doing a promotion for their new menu items, he immediately thought of a way to spin it that would recognize educators. "They asked me if I had any ideas and the first thing that popped in my mind was my sixth grade teacher Ms. Crystal Friday. She's the teacher who inspired me to write," says Wayne, who scored a No. 1 hit in 2008 with "Do You Believe Me Now" and also co-authored the books Paper Angels, which became a TV movie, and...

This weekend, Up presents an original film that serves as a reminder that the holiday season is far more about giving than receiving. Paper Angels, inspired by country star Jimmy Wayne’s inspiring hit of the same name, tells the story of two families whose lives impact each other through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. The lives of the film’s two families, each struggling in different ways, intersect in the holiday spirit of giving. Both come to realize that the more they give, they more they receive; and the holiday season is less about what’s under your tree than what’s … Continue reading →

Jimmy Wayne has been absent from the country charts for the past four years, but the singer/songwriter has been anything but idle. The fourth and final day of the 40th Annual Cma Music Festival was made merry with live performances by Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. The other performers at the June 12 gig were The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Darius Rucker, The JaneDear Girls, Jimmy Wayne and Trace Adkins.
Wearing her signature gold flapper mini dress, Taylor treated audience flocking at Nashville's LP Field with a mix of new and old materials. She had her lucky number "13" painted on the back of her right hand, and an abridged lyric from Sugarland's song which read, "Remember me in ribbons and curls, love your baby girl," written on her left arm.
"I'm so honored to be here at the biggest country music party in the world," the 21-year-old singer/songwriter said to the crowd when greeting them at the beginning of her set. "I was about 15 the first time I came to Cma Fest,...

After walking for seven months and 1,700 miles, through six states, countless blisters and one broken foot, country singer Jimmy Wayne triumphantly marched into Phoenix on Saturday. The country singer embarked on the journey for his Meet Me Halfway campaign, which kicked off Jan. 1 in Nashville and ended officially on Aug. 1 in Phoenix, to raise awareness for foster kids who age out of the system and have nowhere to go. "A lot of these kids will go right from foster care to a homeless shelter," Wayne tells People. "How do we expect the average kid who just turned 18 to survive like that?...

Jimmy Wayne's upcoming release will give country music fans reason to smile.
Wayne's latest album, "Sara Smile" is scheduled to be released November 23. The album takes its name from the 1976 Hall & Oates hit, which Wayne released as a single on October 3. Debuting on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart at #34, the song is the first entry on the genre's chart for Daryl Hall and John Oates, who also do backup vocals on Wayne's cover. The original rendition was the duo's first single to become a Top 10 hit.
In a press release for the album, Wayne said his love affair with the song dates back to his days of working as a prison guard at the Gaston Correctional Facility.
" 'Sara Smile' is a song I've been singing for 13 years," Wayne said. "I sang it on the prison yard when I worked at the prison. Even though I didn't write it,...

He may not have made People's "Country's Hottest Guys" list this year, but Jimmy Wayne knows what's sexy. "Girls seem to like to laugh a lot," the crooner tells People of his self-proclaimed sexiest quality at Cma's song writers series at Joe's Pub in New York City. "Apparently girls like my lips because they are not paper thin," he adds so as to not potentially be pigeonholed as "the comedian" on next year's hottest list. Perhaps Wayne, 36, could be the do-gooder of the bunch. He was not only the youngest person to be recognized by the Salvation Army for his charity work,...

Brad Paisley had a lot on his plate Sunday night, having to think of a speech after winning best male vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Even trumping that, his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley was due to give birth that very same night. "[Kimberly] is doing fine," Paisley, 36, told reporters via teleconference Sunday. "Believe it or not, April 5 was our due date." Still, even as late as last week, Paisley thought he'd be able to make it to the awards, convinced his wife would give birth a few days early. "She's laying low," he said of the still-pregnant Kimberly. Whenever...
