Genevieve Hannon
- Actress
- Additional Crew
Genevieve comes from a family of Broadway, opera, film and television performers, portrait painters, and a major motion picture producer. Born and raised in New York City in this talented family in a legendary artists building on the artsy Upper West Side, and attending schools and summer camp with friends who are the children of famous musicians, composers and actors such as Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel), Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul and Mary), Charles Strouse (Annie), and Mia Farrow, Genevieve was surrounded by the arts on all fronts.
Genevieve began playing piano at 6, cello at 9 and guitar at 15 years old. In high school, Genevieve sang in the Vocal Jazz Ensemble (VJE), which was comprised of 30 girls and boys considered to be the best singers selected among the 8 private schools in NYC, and lead by Dennis Thurmond, now former Chair of the Piano and Music Synthesis Depts at Berklee Collage of Music and former Director of Piano Pedagogy at USC. With VJE, she sang at Lincoln Center for the Arts in NYC and on concerts tours throughout England and Scotland. Genevieve performed the leading roles in all the school musicals and plays, such as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. After Genevieve studied Advanced Placement Music Theory in her junior year at boarding school, she was selected as a member of the 12-woman a cappella group, The Perilhettes, in which she was elected the Head of the group and main musical arranger. The Perilhettes were noted to be the most talented group to come along in the previous couple of decades, and were awarded the production of an album at a pro recording studio. Genevieve went on to study acting and singing with a concentration in musical theater at the acclaimed drama program at Syracuse University, earning a BFA in Musical Theater.
Upon graduation, she returned home to NYC and, where most of her friends were landing roles in, and even producing, Broadway shows, as well as roles in TV shows and films, Genevieve became a client at one of the leading talent agencies in the country, J. Michael Bloom, who started sending her on auditions for TV commercials. Genevieve booked the very first audition she attended - a national network Wendy's TV commercial opposite Dave Thomas, which launched her prolific commercial career. This spot turned into 12 more national TV commercials for Wendy's with Dave Thomas over the next 3 years, sometimes filming on a sound stage set at Silver Cup Studios in NYC and sometimes at North Miami Studios in Florida where Dave Thomas spent his winters.
Three years into being a full time, working commercial TV actor, Genevieve left J. Michael Bloom and joined the renowned talent agency Cunningham, Escott, Slevin and Dougherty (then CED, now CESD) in NYC, where she went on to book principal roles in 20 more national network and 5 more regional TV commercials, including Wellbutrin XL, Morgan Stanley, Dawn Liquid Detergent, Volkswagen, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Verizon, Advil, HIP of NY, University of Pittsburg Medical Center. A few years into booking all these TV commercials as an actor, casting directors began to ask for Genevieve to audition for voice over work as well, and she booked the 6th audition she attended in the first week, a radio spot for The NY Times, and thus began her voice over career for the past 16 years, in thousands of TV and radio commercials and TV network promos, medical narrations and even the voice inside of a toy. Meantime, Genevieve performed singing and acting roles in off-Broadway plays and musicals, including with the Shakespearian group Moonwork in NYC, and she has sung with several bands.
Genevieve's mom Mary Ann is a Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music trained opera singer, musical theater singer and actress, having performed in many operas with the Ruffino Opera Company and at Town Hall in NYC, as leading roles in dozens of musicals from Broadway national tours, such as Kiss of the Spider Woman, to productions at many prominent regional theaters around the country. Her mom also has performed guest parts in hundreds of films, TV soap operas and late night talk shows, such as Dave's diner waitress on Late Show with David Letterman and Madeleine Albright on Late Night with Conan O'Brien.
Genevieve's dad Martin, aka Ted (deceased) was a prominent portrait painter and President of the Salmagundi Club in NYC, the oldest artists club in the country.
Genevieve's sister Erika also performed on Broadway, such as Jekkyl and Hyde, and in leading roles in national tours, such as Tommy, and at regional theaters, such as Papermill Playhouse.

(Michael Caine), Me Him Her. Prior to that, Peter produced with dear friend Jonathan Demme at Clinica Estetica, where he produced Ulee's Gold (Peter Fonda), Adaptation (Nicholas Cage, Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper, Spike Jonze), The Truth About Charlie (Mark Wahlberg, Thandie Newton, Tim Robbins.
