Bethenny Frankel just missed the cut for Donald Trump’s “The Apprentice,” revealing on Monday that she was the first alternate for the sophomore season of the popular NBC reality TV competition that aired in the early to mid-2000s.
A natural foods chef at the time, Frankel auditioned for Season 2 of “The Apprentice” (2004) and advanced through multiple rounds of casting before being being informed by producers that she would not make the final 18 contestants. Kelly Perdew ultimately won that season and a position within the Trump organization.
“I was on the normal person’s ‘Apprentice,’ meaning not ‘The Celebrity Apprentice,'” Frankel recalled. “I was selling these Bethenny Bakes cookies at a trade show at a booth. And I asked my partner at the time if he could get me the cheapest, smallest video camera — I didn’t know how to use one — and I asked him to record me selling cookies…...

MSN is jumping on board the latest trend in original web series—reality TV-style shows—with its new hosted competition series The Tastemaker which launched today. The series features six social media influencers battling it out for a $10,000 prize as “The Tastemaker.” In the running for the top spot are web series host Jesse Draper (The Valley Girl), along with Christine Esther, Jonathan Nafarrete, Brett Gursky, Raymond Roker and Morgan KcKean. The show makes no excuses for the fact that this is essentially an online popularity contest, even titling its first fan voting as “The Official Tastemaker Popularity Contest!” on Sodahead. Judging the competition are some recognizable faces in the web video world all with their own social media followings including Shira Lazar, Kelly Perdew (Season 2 winner of ‘The Apprentice’) and “adventuregirl” Stefanie Michaels Each episode is laid out as a “challenge” where, in typical reality show fashion, contestants face elimination.

The Donald took the spotlight in primetime Thursday as 17 million viewers tuned in to the live three-hour finale of The Apprentice 2. The closing salvo of the second incarnation of Apprentice didn't come anywhere near the ratings for the finale of the first Apprentice series in April, but it nonetheless gave NBC its highest non-sports rating on a Thursday since the finale of Frasier in May. From 8-11 p.m., Apprentice 2 averaged 17 million viewers and 7.8 rating/21 share in the adults 18-49 demographic, according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research. Not surprisingly, viewership peaked around the moment of truth -- when host Donald Trump selected contestant Kelly Perdew as the ultimate winner of his corporate-jungle elimination contest-- between 9:30-10 p.m. at 19.9 million viewers and 9.3/23 in the key demo. In contrast, the two-hour finale of the first Apprentice series averaged 28 million viewers and 13.6/34 in adults 18-49.
