Ex-pro tennis player Justin Gimelstob has filed court docs to get a restraining order against the man he beat up back in October ... claiming the man is hellbent on revenge. Gimelstob was involved in a physical altercation with Randall Kaplan in Brentwood, CA on Halloween 2018. Kaplan claimed he suffered injuries from the incident. Gimelstob claimed Kaplan instigated the fight. Gimselstob ultimately pled no contest to felony battery -- which the judge later reduced to a misdemeanor.

A day after Justin Gimelstob entered a no-contest plea to a violent Halloween 2018 attack on a man on the streets of West Los Angeles, the Tennis Channel is trying to figure out whether it wants him to come back or cut him loose.
“We are sure that Justin is pleased that this matter has been resolved,” a spokesperson for the Sinclair Broadcasting Group-owned channel said Tuesday. “Since he took his leave of absence from Tennis Channel in November 2018, we have been waiting for the legal system to run its course.”
“Now that this is behind him, we will have internal meetings among our executives – and meetings with Justin – to discuss his future with Tennis Channel,” the outlet concluded, with an ominous tone for the former Grand Slam doubles champion.

One of Tennis Channel’s top personalities, former Grand Slam doubles champion Justin Gimelstob, is being sidelined in the wake of a recent arrest on felony battery charges and an expose in The Telegraph listing a string of alleged assaults by the former tennis pro over the past three years.
“Justin asked Tennis Channel for a leave of absence while he works through this issue,” the Sinclair-owned network said in a statement to Deadline. “As he is a longtime, valued member of our network family, we of course granted it to him. We believe that in today’s climate, perhaps more than ever, it’s important to recognize due process and the fact that there are multiple sides to every story. We don’t want to rush to immediate judgment, and will follow this closely as more detail comes to light.”

Chris Evert and Lindsay Davenport are tennis icons, but thanks to one of television's most popular series, they're trying a new game.
With more than 200 singles titles between them, they play themselves -- as does another veteran of the sport, Justin Gimelstob -- on CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Wednesday, Jan. 23. They're seen covering a big match for a player who's found dead soon after (in a tennis ball firing machine, no less), and for both Evert and Davenport, the opportunity was something they couldn't resist.
Evert tells Zap2it she's a friend of series star Elisabeth Shue. "She plays in my pro-celebrity event every year, and she's really good, one of the best celebrity players I know. I think she had mentioned they wanted [John] McEnroe for this, and I said, 'Well, Ok. Have a good show.' Then my agent got a call from the producer, and I said,...

Chris Evert is much happier as a sportscaster than she used to be.
The winner of singles titles in three Wimbledons, six U.S. Opens, seven French Opens and two Australian Opens is nearing the third year of her Espn deal as a Grand Slam tennis commentator. Shortly after retiring from the game, she joined NBC Sports in a similar role, but she admits it took more distance from her days of competing to get comfortable with her TV job.
"I may not be the sharpest tool in the box," Evert muses to Zap2it, "but I know what I see in a match. And I know I'm instinctively pretty spot-on when it comes to strategy and what's actually happening on the court, what the players are trying to achieve and what their styles are. That's my contribution, trying to share something maybe before it happens, or telling viewers something they can't see.

Bode Miller and the kids of the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program. Hublot president Ricardo Guadalupe (right) donated $10,000 to Miller's family charity, the Turtle Ridge Foundation. Spotted playing a charity doubles match at New York City’s Sutton East Tennis Club on Monday: two-time Olympic silver-medal ski racer Bode Miller along with Grand Slam tennis doubles champ Justin Gimelstob, Olympic silver-medal fencer Tim Morehouse, and Gossip Girl guest star Sebastian Stan. The crowd under the bubble at center court included a boisterous group of kids from Harlem opposite what appeared to be, um, potential trophy wives (i.e., models). This motley crew had assembled for what turned out to be one of Miller's first public appearances since September, when, after racing independently for two years following his 2007 season, he announced his return to the U.S. ski team with hopes of making one last bid for Olympic gold come February.
