T.J. Fowler(1910-1982)
- Soundtrack
T.J. Fowler (his real name) grew up in the Detroit metropolitan area
where he played piano in his father's pool hall, and soon began to
organize local jazz combos. His bands backed up several local singers
and performers (including T-Bone Walker) for a number of local record
labels, and Fowler himself soon became known for writing a number of
instrumental pieces and songs that were regional hits. Fowler is also
noteworthy for providing both the technical and practical advice needed
when Berry Gordy organized Motown Records in 1959. After Fowler retired
from performing, he ran a landscaping business in Detroit.
