General Hospital fans are in for a treat as the show brings some exciting casting updates. A new character, Giovanni Palmieri has stirred interest, particularly for Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy).
However, it appears that Trina Robinson, played by Tiana Ali, could be the one for him. Another notable return is that of Nicholas Chavez, who played Spencer Cassadine. Chavez has confirmed his exit, but a recast is likely to happen. The exit of Chavez sparked comments from his co-star, Tabyana Ali, who stated she hopes to work with him again in the future.
Adding to the excitement, the character of Mac Scorpio, played by John J York, is returning after the actor’s successful recovery from cancer. The show also introduces various characters for the wedding scenes, including the Cerullo contingency from Bensonhurst, Brooklyn.
Giovanni Palmieri, played by actor and musician Giovanni Mazza, is set to stick around when the rest leave.

Baby Boy has plenty of sex and drugs, but no rock and roll. An abrasive, gripping and dark descent into the heart of London’s underbelly, this tale of a typical suburban man succumbing to his worst impulses suggests Taxi Driver meeting Uncut Gems. Yet the locale and the feel are undeniably British, with experienced low-budget Director Greg Hall (whose Dn association predates this website) turning in a particularly harrowing look at how easy it is to fall back on one’s inner weaknesses. Told with a great sense of empathy from a screenplay by George Russo who also puts in a terrifying central performance, Baby Boy makes great use of a dual-lighting scheme, carefully co-ordinated camerawork and fantastic acting to flip the script on traditional masculinity in favour of something far more nuanced and interesting. Ahead of today’s online premiere, we had the chance to talk to Hall about making violence believable,...

Teaming up with Essex heavyweight Bernard O’Mahoney at the height of the 1980s rave scene, Tucker could do no wrong. A voracious appetite for money, drugs, and a glamorous lifestyle soon develops, fueling his growingly audacious ventures and seeing him join forces with Pat Tate and Craig Rolfe to capitalise on the drug-boom. Packed with fights, revenges, and explosions, the ultimate origin story brings Rise of the Footsoldier full circle, and tackles many of the franchise’s previously unanswered questions.

A solid Brit gangster film more in the old-school vein of “Get Carter” and “Mona Lisa” than the dog-on-hind-legs Guy Ritchie idiom, Title notwithstanding, our protagonist is an upstanding kind of tough guy — but the criminal world isn’t about to let him go straight. Actor Philip Barantini’s first directorial feature is nothing wildly original in content or style. Still, it punches both elements across with a satisfying low-key confidence, and does not shrink from occasionally letting things get pretty rough. Saban is releasing to U.S. on demand and via digital platforms on May 22.

The story follows a former criminal just released from prison and his attempts to help his family by reconnecting with his daughter and clearing his brother's debt. Run down pub? Check. Geezer who’s got himself in too deep? Check. Grizzled British actor formerly of Eastenders? Check. Crime lord who underestimates the anti-hero? Double check.
Despite ticking every box in the London gangster movie checklist, there’s a lot to like about director Philip Barantini‘s debut feature.

His sleazy little brother, Sean (Russo) has been looking after their pub while he’s inside, although dabbling in the coke dealing business was not a wise move – he’s now in deep Barney with Roy Garrett (Robert Glenister...

With its brooding atmosphere and a charismatic Craig Fairbrass, this hard-edged drama is a cut above the genre’s usual suspects
If you were just judging this film by its cast, its cheesy marketing materials, and the barebones pitch (ex-con tries to go straight but is dragged down by his shiftless brother), hopes would not be high for this British crime thriller. Indeed, with its downbeat narrative trajectory, substantial helpings of violence, and high frequency use of the naughtiest of swearwords, this certainly feels like another outer-borough-set wodge of slicey-dicey post-pub entertainment.
But sometimes a seemingly unprepossessing genre film comes along that has finer qualities than you would expect. Such is the case here. Directed by former actor Philip Barantini and written by Greg Hall and George Russo (who also co-stars as the seedy brother), this has refined touches throughout, starting with the slightly distorted sound design and brooding, unsettling...

As far back as we can remember, Craig Fairbrass has given us that ‘ard man stare that’s become synonymous with the good old British “gangster” movie. This week, Fairbrass is back in the slow-burn drama ‘Villain’ where he plays an ex-con with the desire to go straight – a role in which we don’t see the tall and brooding Fairbrass in all that often.
The film follows the harrowing journey of Eddie Franks (Fairbrass). After being released from prison after 10 years, Eddie attempts to help his family by reconnecting with his daughter (Izuka Hoyle) and clearing his brother’s (George Russo) debt. Despite his best efforts, he finds himself drawn back into a life of crime, with devastating consequences.
We sat down with Fairbrass – who cut an intimidating figure – to talk about his latest film, the public’s love of a good gangster movie, and how the old school...

"I know what I'm gunna do then: I'm gunna knock him spark out, and be back in here for lunch." Lionsgate UK has released an official trailer for My Name Is Lenny, telling the life story of famous bare-knuckle fighter Lenny McLean, who was the first to earn the iconic nickname "the Guv'nor". Josh Helman (seen in X-Men: Apocalypse, Mad Max: Fury Road, Jack Reacher) plays McLean, and the cast includes Chanel Cresswell, Nick Moran, John Hurt, Michael Bisping, Charley Palmer Rothwell, George Russo, and Rita Tushingham. This looks like an entertaining "sports" movie, following in the footsteps of films like Bronson and Snatch. It might also play well as a double feature with Chuck. This trailer is worth a look. Here's the official UK trailer (+ poster) for Ron Scalpello's My Name Is Lenny, direct from YouTube: Explosive & brutal, My Name Is Lenny is based on the true story...

Thor; Blitz; Turnout; Atrocious
One of the great injustices of late 20th-century film criticism was the near universal drubbing dished out to Kenneth Branagh's Frankenstein in the 90s. Recalling the debacle, Branagh once told me that the question he was most regularly asked in the wake of the film's release was: "What are you going to do now that your career is over?" Those of us who had the gall to praise Frankenstein for its gloriously overcooked melodramatic aesthetic (a quality entirely in keeping with Mary Shelley's source novel) were laughed out of court by those toeing the consensus line. It wasn't until the release of the (then futuristic) laserdisc edition that the mainstream critics started to admit that they might have got it wrong after all.
The same qualities that made Frankenstein such a delight lie at the heart of Thor (2011, Paramount, 12), a comic-book adaptation which similarly...

30 Minutes Or Less (15)
(Ruben Fleischer, 2011, Us) Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride. 83 mins
After the heights of The Social Network, Eisenberg is demoted to a lowly pizza delivery boy for this casual caper movie. He's driven to rob banks at the behest of McBride's criminal non-mastermind, with buddy Ansari roped in for comic effect. In fact, comic effect seems to be all this is after. Like a dodgy pizza, it's enjoyable at the time but nutritionally dubious, a bit thin, and just about gone cold by the time it's finished.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (15)
(Thomas Alfredson, 2011, UK/Fra/Ger) Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Benedict Cumberbatch. 127 mins
A very British spy thriller that dispenses with all that hasty pacing and coarse action in favour of well-tailored men talking in rooms. A complex, classy cold war mole-hunt that demands attention, but rewards it richly.

This third-rate Brit lad-flick set in London's trendy Hoxton is sunk by a stupid story and sub-EastEnders dialogue
What went wrong for Ophelia Lovibond? It was all looking gangbusters after a string of entry-level Hollywood roles. Now here she is, bolt-on girlfriend in a third-rate Brit lad-flick. The script is a collaboration between first-time director Lee Sales and two of his actors: a caper about East End boys who bowl around Hoxton hoovering drugs and abusing trendies. The rapport between them is actually pretty spot on – and might have been put to work by a half-decent story. Instead, enter Lovibond as the shopaholic girlfriend of drug-dealing George (co-writer George Russo). They're saving up for a holiday and she's given him her money for safekeeping. Bound to end badly, that, since his coke-snorting outpaces her shoe-buying. Cue endless dreary lines that would make an EastEnders scriptwriter blush: "Swear on your life.
