President Donald Trump is taking his act on the road, heading to India for a rally and some deal-making on the subcontinent.
An eager Commander-in-Tweet fired off a few messages before departing, and told reporters gathered at the White House for his departure that he expects a huge turnout for his public appearances in Ahmedabad.
“I hear it’s going to be a big event. Some people say the biggest event they’ve ever had in India. That’s what the Prime Minister told me, this will be the biggest event they’ve ever had.”
While on the lawn, the President also took time to congratulate Bernie Sanders, albeit more respectfully than he did online, leaving out the “Crazy” nickname. He also announced online a big South Carolina rally for Thursday in his never-ending roadshow.
We’ll update as more communications roll in. The tweetstorm so far:

Attorney General William Barr said that Donald Trump’s tweets about Justice Department criminal cases “make it impossible for me to do my job,” a rare criticism of the president coming from a sitting cabinet secretary.
“I think it’s time to stop tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases,” Barr told Pierre Thomas, ABC News’ chief justice correspondent.
ABC News and Thomas, landed the first sitdown interview with Barr since the furor over the Justice Department decision to reverse itself on a sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone, the former Trump associate who was convicted on seven counts of witness tampering and lying to investigators last year.
The network and its streaming channel, ABC News Live, aired a special report on the interview at 4 p.m. Et. More of the interview will air on Thursday on World News Tonight With David Muir and then on ABC News Live.

It’s not every day that a degenerate former swinger and serial scumbag who built a career based on a single line of bullshit and self-fellation so constant and vigorous that it is practically a yogic art form stands before the bar of justice, but here we are. Roger Stone is, as he loves to be, in the center of a national political scandal, and with his sentencing approaching in just days, Stone hoped the Trump “Justice” Department would save him from a well-deserved sentence of seven to nine years in prison.

President Trump has found his dream attorney general in William Barr. We already knew this, considering how Barr worked last year to obscure special counsel Robert Mueller’s findings (and then some), but the bromance between the president and the head of the Justice Department, which in a functioning government would operate independently, just keeps getting richer.
The latest chapter came on Tuesday, when Barr intervened in the case of Roger Stone, ostensibly because Trump tweeted that it was “horrible and very unfair” that federal prosecutors recommended a seven-to-nine-year prison sentence for Stone,...

Frustrated by continued efforts by the Democratic congress to find a reason to impeach him, President Donald Trump fought back today, saying that an investigation should be mounted on the book deals signed by former President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.
The $65 million in multiple book deals spawned a best-seller for Michelle Obama, with Barack Obama’s memoir scheduled for some time next year.
Trump, speaking in the White House Oval Office on Friday, also called for an investigation into the Clinton Foundation, and put in a jab against Obama for ruining the White House air conditioning system, which he says can’t maintain a comfortable temperature.
The irritation by Trump was likely in response to the Democrats in the House Judiciary Committee stating that they were conducting an “impeachment investigation,” even after obtaining little new information from their big move, this week’s interrogation of Robert Mueller.

Former special counsel Robert Mueller issued several reminders during his testimony before Congress on Wednesday. Russia wanted to put in Trump in the White House in 2016, he said, which we already knew. We also knew that Trump’s campaign welcomed this help, that Trump made concerted efforts to impede the investigation into the matter, and that, three years later, Russia is still working to interfere in American elections. As Mueller put it Wednesday, it’s happening “as we sit here.”

Here's what is known: Former special counsel Robert Mueller will appear before the House Judiciary Committee for three hours of testimony and question-taking this morning, followed by two hours in front of the House Intelligence Committee this afternoon.
Here's what isn't: whether Mueller will fully answer the questions posed of him by Democratic and Republican legislators, and whether these two hearings will be much to see.

Robert Mueller doesn’t want to testify. The public statement he delivered late last month made that clear. “The report is my testimony,” he said. “I would not provide information beyond that which is already public in any appearance before Congress.”

So far, this morning has largely been a retweet storm from President Donald Trump. Columnist Byron York from the Washington Examiner and Ned Ryun from the American Majority, a conservative grassroots consultancy, were particular favorites of the Trump Train.
The President also found time to put in a call to Us manufacturers to consider bringing their business back to domestic production if tariffs were causing them grief.

It’s been a busy day for President Donald Trump on Twitter. All alone in the White House (or so he claimed) and waiting to hear from “Cryin’ Chuck and Nancy” about getting together, there was a lot of time to review the state of the union, past and present enemies, and an upcoming television appearance.
The Commander-in-Tweet started his day with a review of “the failing New York Times” story on the FBI and its plans to look into him concerning Russia, which, ironically, resulted in it discovering no connection.
He labeled former FBI director James Comey as “Lyin’ James Comey,” using a theme and variation on the prior “Leakin’ James Comey.” He also used the term “total sleaze” in describing the former FBI chief, saying it was “a great day for America” when he finally fired him.
That was the warm-up. Trump then turned his attention to Bob Mueller’s investigation,...

In a pre-election prayer, The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre beseeched the Lord to inspire voters to rebuke the “fascist” in the White House, to give strength and wisdom to special counsel Robert Mueller, and to go Old Testament on those “who collaborate with the darkness.” All of that in the show-closing vanity card in the closing credits for Thursday’s Big Bang Theory episode.

No Rachel Maddow, no problem for MSNBC. The Rachel Maddow Show extended its winning streak over all of cable to four nights on Friday, despite Ali Velshi filling in as its host.
Buoyed by last week’s tsunami of news related to President Donald Trump and the Russia investigation, Trms was the most-watched program on cable again as the work week ended. As surely as dawn follows darkness, the Commander-in-Tweet was back on his Twitter megaphone this morning for his usual Sunday messaging.
President Donald Trump spent most of his tweets today focused on his arch-enemy, the “Failing New York Times,” owing to its big story about White House Counsel Don McGahn and his alleged cooperation with the Mueller probe.
Today’s jihad against the Times follows yesterday’s Trump Twitter takes on social media outlets that are allegedly stifling conservative voices, making it a media-focused weekend. That’s not surprising, given that more than 300 newspapers attacked him on Thursday in coordinated op-eds that questioned his treatment of – wait for it – the media. Perhaps that left some lingering bad feelings.
Today’s tweetstorm so far:

Updated: Just one day into the trial of his former campaign chief Paul Manafort, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to demand Attorney General Jeff Sessions immediately pull the plug on Robert Mueller’s Russian election-tamper probe.
“This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further,” Trump tweeted before Day 2 of Manafort’s trial got underway. “Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to the USA!”
Sessions, of course, recused himself from the Russia election probe, and Manafort is on trial for business dealings not directly related to Mueller’s Russia probe. Trump, however, connects the dots, via Twitter. This as the White House works hard to impress upon the press the distinction between the Russia election tamper probe and the Manafort trial.

Washington — President Donald Trump called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to end Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of possible campaign collision with Russian interests in the 2016 election.
“This is a terrible situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should stop this Rigged Witch Hunt right now, before it continues to stain our country any further,” Trump tweeted on Wednesday morning. “Bob Mueller is totally conflicted, and his 17 Angry Democrats that are doing his dirty work are a disgrace to USA!”

Trump has been lashing out more frequently at Mueller, as he has characterized the special counsel’s work as biased against him.

Stephen Colbert devoted more than 12 minutes to President Trump's poorly received summit with Vladimir Putin in Helsinki on Monday's Late Show. The late-night host opened with an animated musical number, inspired by vintage movie theater concession ads, in which the candy responded to Trump's comments at the post-summit presser by singing: "That was beyond all reason / And pretty close to treason … Bob Mueller make it go away."
Colbert spent his whole monologue breaking down Trump and Putin's comments at the presser and the responses from both political parties. The host aired a clip ...

The Donald Trump and David Lynch mutual admiration society truly has commenced.
After the Twin Peaks co-creator praised the former Celebrity Apprentice host this weekend as potentially being “one of the greatest presidents in history because he has disrupted the thing so much,” it was only a matter of time until the Great Disruptor weighed in.
What’s as odd as a Lynch plot line is that Trump took a rare understated approach to responding to the compliment from the former Barack Obama supporter, Oscar nominee and professional contrarian. No online purging like what Trump did to former NBC pal Jimmy Fallon after the Tonight Show host expressed regrets about the way he had the then-candidate on his late-night show in 2016. No capitalizations. No Elephant Man, Wild at Heart or frustrated Emmy-nomination jokes. No digs at other Hollywood directors or mention of that other Tinseltown Trump fan Roseanne Barr.
Nope.

PopPolitics: Mark McKinnon on How ‘The Circus’ Finds a Narrative in a Torrent of Trump News (Listen)
Washington — The recently completed season of Showtime’s “The Circus” ended with the episode “Their Brand Is Crisis,” delving into how President Trump and the White House are coping with the protracted Russia investigation — which is to say, they’re attacking its credibility.
Mark McKinnon, co-host of “The Circus” along with Alex Wagner and John Heilemann, tells Variety that the context for Trump’s constant attacks on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation as a “witch hunt” have a lot to do with making sure that the president can maintain a political advantage, particularly if Democrats win back control of the House.
“If there is a Democratic House, which is certainly a possibility, and Bob Mueller lays out something, it doesn’t matter what that something is, I guarantee Democrats are going to move to impeach,” McKinnon says. “So Donald Trump knows in the long range, what he needs is...

If you tweet with poor spelling and grammar from time to time — you might be crazy. That was certainly the implication on the set of “Morning Joe” Wednesday morning. After President Trump released a typo-laden tweet this morning, show co-host Mika Brzezinski suggested it raised new questions about his mental fitness for office. “He’s renewing his attacks on Bob Mueller this morning in writing, in a series of misspelled tweets which should tell you something about state of mind,” said Brzezinski. Joe Scarborough weighed in on Thursday about the departure of White House Communications Director Hope Hicks. The “Morning Joe” host warned that Robert Mueller and his special counsel investigation would be coming for her. “She’s got to get ready for Mueller. She’s got to get ready for a trial. I mean, it’s, things could get ugly,” said Scarborough. “We had two reporters yesterday come on our show saying their sources inside the Mueller investigation say things are starting to move at a very rapid pace. Bob Mueller is not nibbling around the edges anymore. He’s going straight in and he’s...
