- Anand Babu was born on August 30, 1963 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. He was a director and actor, known for Atrangi Re (2021), Bommalattam (2012) and Urumi: The Warriors Who Wanted to Kill Vasco Da Gama (2011). He died on September 19, 2023 in India.

- Indian film director Bharathiraja expressed his grief on the passing away of Babu. "In the film industry, he should have become a huge star. In an accident on the film set, he was in bed for over 30 years.".
- After making his debut in Bharathiraja's En Uyir Thozhan (1990), Babu appeared in a few more Tamil films before being paralyzed following a failed stunt sequence.
- In June 2004, director Ponvannan revealed that he was going to make a film based on the life of his friend, Babu, and that he would use the profits from his film "Gomathy Nayagam" to fund the venture. However, the film eventually did not materialise.
- Director and actor Bharathiraja had also met Babu when he was undergoing treatment in the hospital and aided him financially.
- Babu acted in the film titled 'Manasara Vaalthungalaen'. For an action sequence in the film, Babu had to jump from heigh. Even though the director suggested the actor use a body double, Babu attempted the do the stunt on his own. Babu stumbled and collapsed after taking a heavy blow to his back while attempting a high jump.
