Caitlin Clark Offered $5M To Play Alongside Former NBA Stars In Ice Cube’s Big3 League
Image
Caitlin Clark has already broken barriers in college basketball, and now she’s broken one in pro sports, even before leaving the NCAA.

Ice Cube’s professional Big3 league has offered the Iowa Hawkeyes’ point guard $5 million to play in the 3-on-3 half-court basketball competition. She would be the first woman to compete in the league stacked with former NBA players.

After TMZ initially reported the news, Cube confirmed it on Twitter, writing, “BIG3 made a historic offer to Caitlin Clark. Why wouldn’t we? Caitlin is a generational athlete who can achieve tremendous success in the BIG3.”

The deal would reportedly allow Clark to still play in the WNBA after the 10-week Big3 season is over.

In January 2017, Ice Cube, along with entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz, announced the launch of the Big3, promising that it would feature some of the best players to ever play the game. Cube and...

Image
Exclusive: Ice Cube is teaming with Jesse Collins Entertainment on a sports docuseries revolving around his successful Big3 sports league. Ice Cube will star in and produce via his Cube Vision with Jesse Collins Entertainment.

Ray Romano To Play College Hoops Coach Jim Valvano In Biopic
Image
Exclusive: Ray Romano will star and produce a new film about the extraordinary life of American basketball coach and broadcaster Jim Valvano.

The script will be written by Jim Strouse, whose credits include Grace Is Gone and The Winning Season. Romano will produce with game1’s Basil Iwanyk, Greg Economou and Mark Ciardi (The Rookie). The Valvano family will provide key resources for the film, serving as executive producers.

Jimmy V’s life is the ultimate underdog story, peppered with courage and optimism when facing long odds. It starts with Valvano’s meteoric coaching ascent, including his astonishing run to the 1983 NCAA Championship with the North Carolina State Wolfpack. The team won a last-second victory over a heavily favored Houston Cougars team that had all time NBA greats Hakeem Olajuwon and Clyde Drexler on its roster.

Valvano’s optimism never wavered, even when he received a tragic cancer diagnosis. His...

‘The Last Dance’ Week 3: The Dream Team, the New Jordan Rules, and a Three-Peat
Michael Jordan, Dennis Rodman, Phil Jackson, Steve Kerr, and Scottie Pippen in El último baile (2020)
As we kick off this week’s installments of ‘The Last Dance,’ Michael Jordan is the league’s elder statesman and undisputed king. At the 1998 All-Star Game, Larry Bird is his coach, and Magic Johnson is a TV commentator. The men whose feats Jordan once strove to match are long gone from the court, and a 19-year-old Kobe Bryant — the event’s youngest-ever competitor — is nipping at his heels. (Leading to some hilarious pot/kettle locker-room banter where an indignant Jordan preaches about Kobe’s ball-hogging.) He glad-hands and breezily...

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Will Kareem Abdul-Jabbar break the NBA curse on ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’? It might be a tall order
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
When Kareem Abdul-Jabbar begins to compete in the upcoming 26th season of “Dancing with the Stars” he’ll be the fifth NBA player to have challenged for the Mirror Ball Trophy. Will he have what it takes to win? The new season begins on April 30, so before he and his competitors start competing on the dance floor, let’s consider the pros and cons for this contender.

Pros:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played for 20 seasons in the NBA for the Milwaukee Bucks (1969-74) and then the Los Angeles Lakers (1975-89). During his career as a center Abdul-Jabbar was a record six-time NBA Most Valuable Player, a record 19-time NBA All-Star, a 15-time All-NBA selection, and an 11-time NBA All-Defensive Team member. In 1996 he was honored by the NBA as one of the 50 greatest players in history. So Abdul-Jabbar has spent decades accumulating fans who might eagerly vote for him, and he...

‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’: Which sports have the best track records?
Josh Norman
Seven sports are represented by the 10 athletes on “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes,” including some of the show’s staples. But which sport’s athletes have done the best on the show? You can probably guess. Let’s look at these seven sports’ “Dancing” histories.

Football (Josh Norman)

As everyone knows, football is by far “Dancing”’s favorite sport. They don’t even try to hide it. Nineteen football players have hoofed it before this season, and while they haven’t all made it to the business end of their respective seasons, football has produced four winners, three runner-ups and two third-place finishers. So, no pressure, Josh, to follow in these pigskin players’ footsteps.

See ‘Dancing With the Stars: Athletes’ – Everything you need to know about season 26 of ‘DWTS’

Figure skating

Figure skating is “Dancing”’s second favorite sport, though it’s still well behind football. Before this season, six...

How do they know? The woman is wearing a triple wedding band on her left ring finger — and what do you know? Arnold also has a triple wedding band, as multiple fans noted in the comments.

See Tom Bergeron dropped a big hint about the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ cast — and we think we figured out one athlete

Arnold won last season with Jordan Fisher, so it’s no surprise that she’s back as a pro for the four-week mini-season. Now the question is: Who’s her partner?...

Terrence Ross Feels 'Comfortable' Starting For Toronto Raptors [Exclusive Video]
In December, the Toronto Raptors traded Rudy Gay and, more importantly, his massive contract to the Sacramento Kings. As a result, the Raptors slid second-year forward Terrence Ross into the starting lineup. Thus far, the results have been promising. Ross exclusively told Uinterview that he feels comfortable starting. “I played enough games to really have that confidence and make sure I have the support of my teammates there,” Ross told Uinterview. “So it’s always feeling good going into the second half of the season with the momentum swing and just knowing you put yourself in the best possible position to win.”

Ross told Uinterview that his career highlight took place in January when he scored 51 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. “It’s kind of surreal. I didn’t really believe it happened where I really scored 51 points,” Ross said. “It must have been a misprint or something. It was just…...

Where Does LeBron James Rank Among The Greatest Players Of All Time?
A week ago, this question would have been much easier to answer. Without a championship ring under his belt, LeBron James is merely an explosive all-round forward, a physical specimen and a great player. That is not to say that such a description isn’t impressive, but in the history of NBA many have been considered “great.”

With a ring under his belt however, LeBron James has vaulted himself onto a list of some of the greatest NBA players of all time. Many will argue that he isn’t quite there yet, and that is debatable, but no one can argue that his dominating performances throughout the 2011-2012 playoffs didn’t give him an extraordinary boox.

To begin, it would be advantageous to list players that are definitely above LeBron James. Also, I apologize in advance if certain legends are omitted, but due to the sheer number of greats, it...

'Dancing with the Stars': 6-foot-7 Rick Fox on dwarfing his partner
The moment 6-foot-7 retired NBA player Rick Fox became a rumored Season 11 contestant on "Dancing with the Stars," fans wondered which of the female pros the towering Fox could possibly partner with. Their answer? Cheryl Burke.

Although taller than some of her co-stars, Burke is still more than a foot shorter than Fox -- though not with the aid of the right heels. Fox knows that this could be a problem for some taller guys, but he's already plotting how to use it to his advantage. When Zap2it caught up with him at the "Dwts" casting announcement, he shed a little light on his plan.

"Jason Taylor opened a door for bigger guys, considering most of the female dancers are in the 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-5 range," says Fox of the 6-foot-6 NFL linebacker and Season 6 runner-up. "I've watched a number of his videos, and he really owned his height.

'Dancing With The Stars': Handicapping The New Cast
Though we don't yet know who their partners will be (which, let's face it, is an important factor in deciding who can win and who can't), the celebrity contestants for the new season of "Dancing With the Stars" have been announced. Ever since the launch of the show back in 2005, it has evolved from a charming summer replacement show into one of the most popular reality programs on television.

At this point, they've figured out exactly how to cast these things. In fact, you can even tell how everybody is going to finish based on the role each person plays in the cast. Check out the predictions below.

The Ringer

Role: The professional performer (usually a musician with some kind of dance background) who provides the gold standard for the rest of the contestants. These people are usually the finalists.

Past Versions: Mya, Nick Lachey, Nicole Scherzinger, Aaron Carter

'Dancing With the Stars': Ex-Laker Rick Fox joins the party
"Dancing With the Stars" may have filled its athlete spot for the coming season.

Former NBA player and actor Rick Fox will reportedly be among the 12 people in the cast ABC announces on Monday (Aug. 30). As with all casting speculation, the network isn't commenting, but E! Online reports that Fox is in for Season 11, which debuts Sept. 20.

The 6-foot-7 Fox will be the second former NBA player to compete on "Dwts." The first, Hall of Famer Clyde Drexler, didn't fare especially well; he was the fourth person eliminated in Season 4.

Other all-but-confirmed participants on the new "Dwts" season include "The Hills" star Audrina Patridge, Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino from "Jersey Shore," Brandy Norwood, Jennifer Grey, David Hasselhoff, Michael Bolton, Florence Henderson and Bristol Palin. Kirstie Alley's name has also been floated.

Fox played 13 seasons for the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers, averaging just under 10 points per game for his career.
