Manic, magic, madcap … Julie Andrews is superb in the role of the flying nanny, in a film filled with amazing songs
Brilliant, entrancing, exhausting, and with thermonuclear showtunes from Richard and Robert Sherman, Disney’s hybrid live-action/animation classic from 1964 is now rereleased on home entertainment platforms for its 60th anniversary. And it has a brand-new certificate from the BBFC: upgraded from a U to a PG on account of “discriminatory language” from the eccentric seadog character Admiral Boom, who fires a cannon from his roof shouting “Fight the Hottentots!” (an obsolete term for South Africa’s indigenous Khoekhoe people). However the BBFC is evidently not bothered by the foxhunting scene in which the fox has a cod Irish accent, nor by the cheerful suicide reference made by one of the servants: “Nice spot there by Southwark Bridge, very popular with jumpers!”

“I just think it’s an ugly world in general,” he added. “I never cared about rejection, but there’s a ton of rejection.”

The actor-turned-nascar driver told Pedestrian TV in an interview shared on TikTok Sunday that he wouldn’t let his son Mauz, who’s currently 3 years old, start working as an actor at a young age because “it’s an ugly world in general.”
“I would never let my kid go into the business,” Muniz said. “And not that I had a negative experience, because to be honest, my experience was 100 percent positive. But I know so many people, friends that were close to me, that had such insanely negative experiences.”
“I just think it’s an ugly world in general,” he added. “I never cared about rejection, but there’s a ton of rejection.”

The new Apple TV+ series “Constellation” is a space drama, a category in which its deep-pocketed platform has developed something of a preoccupation. But the show also exemplifies a type of series so recognizable it’s become practically a genre unto itself: a story that calls for the concision of a feature film that’s been stretched out to fill a TV-sized number of episodes.
“Constellation” stars Noomi Rapace as Jo Ericsson, an astronaut who survives a deadly collision at the International Space Station — only to experience disturbing visions back on Earth. The what/why/how of Jo’s experience in orbit could make for a gripping mystery, but creator and sole screenwriter Peter Harness stretches these questions over eight hours, killing their momentum and stretching the show’s worthwhile elements far too thin.

The specter of death was all around Paul Schrader as he wrote and filmed “Oh Canada,” starring Richard Gere and Jacob Elordi. The new film, being sold by Arclight Films at the European Film Market, centers around the last days of documentary filmmaker Leonard Fife and is based on the Russell Banks’ novel “Foregone.” Schrader was a longtime pal of Banks since Schrader directed the adaptation of Banks’ acclaimed “Affliction” in 1989. Banks died in January 2023 as Schrader was working on the “Canada” screenplay. “We corresponded up to almost the end,” says Schrader. “My health was bad too.” He contracted Covid-19 and endured subsequent respiratory issues that led to hospitalization.
“We were all dealing with mortality issues as Leonard does in the film. You get to the point where you wonder how many bullets you have left in the gun,” the veteran filmmaker says.

Nicola Peltz Beckham started acting at age 12 but it wasn’t until three years later that she started working with acting coach Nancy Banks. She still relies on Banks to guide performances to this day as well as the tool she packed into her creative process. Every time she lands a new gig, Peltz Beckham journals as the character she’s going to play, writing down their private thoughts, experiences and feelings and answering questions about what their life was like before their name appeared on a script.
“Obviously, 99 percent of the time when you get a script, it doesn’t start the day a character is born. They have a whole life before that. With my journals, I write about my character’s life, imagining the first time they were embarrassed or the first time they kissed someone. What was the first big fight with their mom and what was that relationship like?...

Since she always goes for the headshot, Azealia Banks plainly said The Beatles suck when that wasn’t even the topic at hand. She prefers another 1960s band to the Fab Four. Interestingly, John Lennon himself wasn’t always the biggest Beatles fan.
Azealia Banks hates The Beatles but loves 1 John Lennon song
During a 2021 interview with Rolling Stone, Banks was asked her opinion of cancel culture. She responded with a non sequitur: “By the way, I think The Beatles suck.”
The reporter was confused by the out-of-left-field pronouncement. “I said, ‘By the way, I think The Beatles suck,'” Banks reiterated. “I’m a Beach Boys girl,” she explained. Her comment was likely a reference to the fact that The Beatles and The Beach Boys were chart rivals during the mid-1960s. Because the two groups delved into the worlds of both bubblegum pop and psychedelic rock, they are often compared to each other.

Elizabeth Banks has honored Melinda Ledbetter, the late wife of the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, whom she played in the 2014 film Love & Mercy.
The Pitch Perfect star posted on Instagram. “What an honor to know her, to be invited into her life with Brian,” Banks wrote. “She was a force. She gave me such great advice – on parenting, which house to buy, being an artist. We laughed. She had a good laugh.
“I was just thinking of her the other day when I passed the deli we used to visit,” Banks continued. “This is a reminder to reach out to people you enjoy. Tell them. Her family was her world and my heart and prayers are with them.”

Melinda Ledbetter Wilson, the longtime wife of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson who helped guide his personal and career resurgence and was played by Elizabeth Banks in the 2014 biopic Love & Mercy, died Tuesday. She was 77. Her husband revealed the news in a touching social media post.
“My heart is broken,” Wilson wrote. “Our five children and I are just in tears. We are lost. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my savior. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career.” He added in a subsequent post: “She was my anchor. She was everything for us.”
She encouraged me to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything for us. Please say a prayer for her.

Fanatic Feed: Razzie Nominations Revealed, Constellation, Ripley, Apples Never Fall All Get Trailers
It's a big day for highly anticipated new streaming series, two of which just released their first trailers.
First, we have Constellation, the AppleTV sci-fi thriller starring Noomi Rapace and Jonathan Banks.
Rapace plays an astronaut who returns to Earth after a stint on a space station and finds that her life has changed in a number of small, subtle ways.
In his best world-weary "go home, Walter" voice, Banks explains that astronauts have a tendency to become "unstuck" after spending too much time in space.
What does that mean, exactly?
Well, we guess we'll have to watch the spacy drama unfold to find out!
It's tough to discern much about the plot from the trailer, but it looks like the series will enter supernatural horror territory as it progresses.
There's some weirdness involving Rapace's daughter, and the trailer delivers some genuinely spine-tingling creepy kid moments.
It also has lots...

Nearly two years have gone by since we heard that Apple TV+ had ordered a sci-fi psychological thriller series called Constellation, with Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) and Jonathan Banks (Beverly Hills Cop) on board to star in the show. The show has since made its way through production and is now ready to start streaming on February 21st – and with that date just one month away, a trailer for Constellation has arrived online. You can check it out in the embed above.
Created by Peter Harness, whose previous credits include the 2019 period piece The War of the Worlds mini-series and episodes of Wallander and Doctor Who, Constellation is described as being a “conspiracy-based psychological space adventure that explores the dark edges of human psychology”.
The show follows one woman’s desperate quest to expose the truth about the hidden history of space travel and for her to recover all that she has lost.
