In the days since Donald Trump was indicted, his allies have had a unified demand of his GOP primary rivals: Promise to pardon the Donald — or else.
It’s not an accident: In the days leading up to his arraignment, the former president worked the phones to vent about the case to his allies and discuss the way forward. According to a person familiar with the matter and another source briefed on it, Trump had one repeated request for his supporters: Go on TV and social media and trash Ron DeSantis...

The just unsealed indictment of Donald Trump over classified documents alleges that the former president “put at risk the national security of the United States”
Looking at over 20 years in prison and millions in fine if found guilty on the 37-counts, current White House candidate Trump is facing claims from the feds that he blatantly lied about his use of the top-secret material in an effort to “obstruct the FBI and grand jury investigations.”
Read the full unsealed Trump indictment here
One of the most surprising aspects of the indictment was the number of documents kept at Mar-a-Lago that were at the highest level of secret classification. The documents contained details of various military activities and top-level plans, including a potential “plans for a possible retaliation in response to a foreign attack.”

Republicans — the party that decided it was pretty much fine that a violent mob stormed the Capitol to try to overturn Donald Trump’s 2020 election loss — are clutching all of their pearls over the leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that overturns Roe v. Wade.
Indeed, in a delicious bit of projection, they’re claiming that the leak amounts to… wait for it… an “insurrection” against the judicial body.

Jeff Zucker’s abrupt resignation on Wednesday as CNN’s president has put a spotlight on Allison Gollust, his longtime lieutenant and the network’s chief marketing officer.
Gollust, who had worked with Zucker for decades and rejoined CNN in 2013 as his “closest colleague,” has been identified as the woman with whom Zucker had a “consensual relationship” that he did not disclose to CNN owner AT&T in apparent violation of company policies.
“Jeff and I have been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years. Recently, our relationship changed during Covid. I regret that we didn’t disclose it at the right time,” Gollust said in a statement on Wednesday. “I’m incredibly proud of my time at CNN, and look forward to continuing the great work we do every day.”

Starting April 6, McEnany will appear regularly on the program along with Harris Faulkner, who has been a regular presence on the show since its launch in 2014, as well as Emily Compagno, a co-host, and a rotating panel of guests. Donald Trump’s rally in Henderson, Nv, didn’t get the kind of coverage that his most recent events have for one good reason: It was indoors, with many of his supporters not wearing masks and not socially distanced.
Out of health concerns, the major broadcast and cable networks kept their correspondents outside the rally.
“NBC News reporters did not go inside the rally and we will continue to follow and monitor prevailing public health guidelines regarding large indoor gatherings as we have since the start of the pandemic,” said a network spokesperson. An ABC News source said, “We do not go inside rallies.” Fox News’ Jonathan Hunt reported from outside the event.

“We begin tonight, this is now officially a Fox News alert, Night 2 of the worst infomercial ever made,” said Sean Hannity kicking off his show Tuesday by kicking sand in the face of the Democrats and their virtual Convention.
“Informercials are a lot more interesting” added the primetime cable newser host after a perky handoff from lead-in Tucker Carlson. Yes, you could see parts of Tuesday’s Democratic Convention, but mainly as another night of a token backdrop for more partisan bombardment.
Once again silently split screening the live feed of the first hour of tonight’s convention like he did on Monday, Hannity started off mocking how the Night 1 ratings were down double digits from 2016 and didn’t take his heavy foot off the gas for the rest of the hour. “Those that did tune into the convention got a predictable dose of poorly produced cult-like psychotic rage, hysteria against all things Donald Trump,...

As his poll numbers have slipped, Donald Trump renewed his complaints against mail-in voting on Thursday, but this time he also suggested that the Nov. 3 presidential election could be delayed.
“With Universal Mail-In Voting, 2020 will be the most Inaccurate & Fraudulent Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???” he wrote on Twitter.
But federal law sets the date of the election as the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. It is not up to the president. To change that date would require an act of Congress, i.e. the Republican-controlled Senate and the Democratic-controlled House. As historians quickly noted, not even during other moments of crisis, like World War II, has the date of the vote been changed.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany defended President Donald Trump’s tweet that targeted a 75-year-old protester who was shoved to the ground by Buffalo police officers during a protest last week.
Per Factcheck.org, Trump on Tuesday tweeted baseless claims about the man, Martin Gugino. The president wrote, “Buffalo protester shoved by Police could be an Antifa provocateur. 75 year old Martin Gugino was pushed away after appearing to scan police communications in order to black out the equipment. @Oann I watched, he fell harder than was pushed. Was aiming scanner. Could be a set up?”

Former Bush administration officials Ari Fleischer and Andrew Card joined filmmakers Barak Goodman and Jamila Ephron for a panel at the Television Critics Association 2002 Winter Press Tour to discuss the latter duo’s upcoming two-part “W,” which will premiere sometime in the spring.

The Dow has hit 28,000, its highest mark ever. So President Donald Trump couldn’t resist a dig in his weekend tweetstorm: “Gee, Pelosi & Schitt have a good idea, “Lets Impeach the President.”
The good financial news arrives after a week of Trump media flaming via the impeachment inquiry, a hearing where testimony was heard from people who either knew nothing or repeated information overheard others as a way to prove the truth of the matter asserted.
The Commander-in-Tweet also wants Louisiana voters to go the polls and elect Republican Eddie Rispone to the governership of that state. It’s a crucial contest for Trump, given the recent Democrat victories in Kentucky and Virginia.

“Intelligence gathered by this and other governments leaves no doubt that the Iraq regime continues to possess and conceal some of the most lethal weapons ever devised. This regime has already used weapons of mass destruction against Iraq’s neighbors and against Iraq’s people.”

Mitt Romney, the former — and potentially future — Republican presidential candidate marked his arrival as Utah senator with an op-ed published in the Washington Post that wasn’t too kind to President Trump. “A president should demonstrate the essential qualities of honesty and integrity, and elevate the national discourse with comity and mutual respect,” Romney declared. “As a nation, we have been blessed with presidents who have called on the greatness of the American spirit. With the nation so divided, resentful and angry, presidential leadership in qualities of character is indispensable.

Three months have passed since that fleeting, anonymous New York Times op-ed from a Trump staffer claiming that she or he was busy trying to save us from the president’s agenda and “his worst inclinations.” The piece was largely useless, but it was entertaining. Conservatives who have remained silent about Republican disenfranchisement were inspired, in their own way, to defend voting rights.
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-ca), the House Majority Leader, declared in a letter to the Times that the writer was “thwarting the wishes of the legitimately elected president from within the executive branch.

As press secretary for President George W. Bush, Dana Perino used to deliver the daily briefings from the White House. Now, as an anchor on Fox News, her job is to help viewers interpret the tidal wave of headlines coming out of the Trump administration and Washington, D.C.
Perino has been with Fox News since 2009, not long after she left the White House, but her profile has climbed significantly in the nearly 12 months since she took over the weekday 2 p.m. slot for the news-driven “Daily Briefing with Dana Perino.” She also serves as one of the five panelists on Fox News’ roundtable discussion series “The Five,” a role she’s held since the 5 p.m. show’s inception in 2011.

President Donald Trump has turned once again via Twitter to express displeasure with one of his favorite media whipping boys, Chuck Todd, host of NBC’s Meet The Press.
The president was a tad less harsh than earlier this year, when Trump called Todd a “sleeping son of a bitch” during a rally. But he still mocked the negative questioning by Todd on what the president perceives as positive results regarding his negotiations with North Korea.
This morning on Meet The Press, Todd verbally jousted with the president’s chief congressional negotiator, Marc Short. The conversation covered James Comey, the Mueller investigation, and particularly North Korea. The latter is what raised the president’s ire.
To start the conversation, Todd asked Short whether North Korea could be trusted, given its negotiating history. Todd quoted Ari Fleischer, a veteran of the Bush administration, who noted of North Korea, “Call me a cynic,...

Twitter was divided on Thursday as people voiced their approval — or disappointment — over Sen. Al Franken’s resignation amid multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.
Much like Franken himself did in his emotional Senate-floor speech, many tweeters pointed out the irony that the Minnesota Democrat was forced to resign over his alleged actions while other politicians who have been accused of sexual misconduct — including President Donald Trump and embattled Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore — have not faced consequences. (Trump and Moore have denied the allegations against them.)

The last time we spoke to actor Rob Corddry, he told us how director Michael Bay “kicked his ass” and how he’d tell us about it next time. Now, almost a year after promoting Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Pain & Gain is finally hitting theaters and Mr. Corddry is here to tell us how Bay went about that ass-kicking. Some actors haven’t always taken to Bay’s blunt style, but Corddry embraced it. A director can’t get much more honest than telling one of his actors they “fucked up,” something Bay would tell the creator and star of Children’s Hospital after a take gone wrong. If Corddry didn’t respond to that approach, then he most likely wouldn’t have done a pool stunt for Bay, considering he isn’t a fan of the water. But Corddry is a fan of Michael Bay’s tireless work ethic, and...

An array of familiar faces flitter in and out of Lorene Scafaria‘s directorial debut. Be it Rob Huebel or Patton Oswalt, they all have a minute or two to shine before the apocalypse strikes the world at play; amongst some of those soon-to-perish characters is Rob Corddry, an actor well-known for bit parts and the “asshole” role. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World also shares a connection to another film Corddry has coming up: Michael Bay‘s Pain and Gain, based on a true (and insane) story. The doomsday bit isn’t the common thread, but the voices behind them are. Scafaria’s voice is shaping up to be a notable one, as Michael Bay’s is globally known. We...
