Tim McGraw received the Tom Hanks Caregiver Champion Award last night from Tom Hanks himself – virtually – during the Elizabeth Dole Foundations’ third annual Heroes and History Makers event, honoring America’s 5.5 million family caregivers of wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans at home.
McGraw accepted the honor on behalf of family members and others who care for injured and ill veterans. “These men and women deserve our deepest gratitude,” he said. “And to our nation’s Hidden Heroes, our military caregivers, thank you for standing by your veteran. We recognize that you serve, too. America stands with you.”
“Tim, himself, knows what it is like to have a loved one count on him for their care,” Hanks said. “He has lived that life consumed by endless cycles of tests, trials, and treatments. Tim’s personal experience now drives him to make sure no other caregiver faces that reality alone.

That's one of Tom Hanks' first-ever questions to Andrew Luck ... straight-up wondering how much the Indianapolis Colts Qb has been made fun of in his life. Don't worry ... Luck played off the awkward question well -- "It goes both ways!" -- and the two had a pretty fun first encounter Wednesday nonetheless. Hanks and Luck were together for an event at The Children's Museum...

Newman's Own Foundation, founded by the late actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, is launching a campaign to encourage good deeds that could help make our world a better place.
Inspired by Paul Newman, who was the quintessential humanitarian and philanthropist, the Foundation is challenging people to be “Newmanitarians” by giving back because, as Paul Newman said, “It’s just the right thing to do.”
In recognition of reaching the milestone of $500 million donated to charity, Newman’s Own Foundation has launched a #Newmanitarian campaign, calling for acts of kindness. This can include small gestures of being kind, doing good deeds, and extending generosity towards others. Individuals are asked to visit Newmanitarian.org and take a pledge to give back.
Newmanitarians can then share the pledge and their good deeds on social media.

New York -- When Fox News Channel made its call of the election for Barack Obama at exactly 11 p.m. Et, it was the culmination of a series of events that began when the exit polls were released a little less than six hours earlier.
While exit polling favored John Kerry exactly four years ago Tuesday and turned out to be dead wrong, Fox News Channel's decision desk and executives said this time, things were different.
"The first results of the exit polls, which were available to us after 5, gave a really strong indication for Obama," said John Moody, executive vp of news editorial at Fox News Channel. It was Moody's final call, seated at the network's decison desk, that awarded states to the candidates. Shortly after 10:30 p.m., it was clear that Obama would reach 270 and the White House.
