His girlfriend Victoria Mary Clarke has announced a Twitter appeal for his teeth to be fixed, promising that he will front an advertising campaign in exchange for the job.
"Shane is keen to find a dentist, so he can start in Hollywood film," she wrote. "Pogues/Shane fans who are great dentists please apply!"

The Pogues' official Twitter page also backed the project, writing: "Alert! Job offer of lifetime. Any Pogues/Shane Mac fans who are great dentists please tweet @Victoriamary to work on the great man himself!"
