Mudvayne kicked off their first full-fledged headlining tour in 14 years at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Thursday night (July 20th). The outing, dubbed “The Psychotherapy Sessions,” features support from Coal Chamber, Gwar, Nonpoint, and Butcher Babies, with tickets available here.
Mudvayne reunited in 2021 after going on hiatus in 2010. While this tour marks Mudvayne’s first run as a lone headliner since 2009, the band did co-headline the “Freaks on Parade Tour” with Rob Zombie in 2022.
The Thursday night set featured Mudvayne performing 15 songs, including seven tunes from their classic 2000 album, L.D. 50. In recent months, frontman Chad Gray has dropped hints on social media that new music is in the works.
Meanwhile, for Coal Chamber, this marks their first proper tour in eight years, following a couple of festival gigs in recent weeks. Dez Fafara and company performed 12 songs, including four each from their 1997 self-titled debut and 2002’s Dark Days.

Dez Fafara, frontman of the bands DevilDriver and Coal Chamber, has revealed that he currently is unable to tour overseas because of heart problems that arose from his 2021 battle with Covid.
DevilDriver are currently touring the States with Cradle of Filth, and Coal Chamber were recently announced as direct support on Mudvayne’s summer 2023 outing. While Dez has been cleared to play stateside gigs, he can’t get on a flight anytime soon.
The singer revealed his condition as DevilDriver pulled out of the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air festival, explaining as follows:
“In 2021, I came down with Covid which left me with heart problems. I had to live downstairs in my house, as I could barely walk more than a few feet without collapsing. I, in fact was saying goodbye to my family at the time and didn’t think I would pull through.

DevilDriver have announced a new album, Dealing with Demons Vol. II, and shared the video for lead single “Through the Depths” ahead of the LP’s May 12th release date.
The album news comes as DevilDriver are set to launch their co-headlining US tour with Cradle of Filth on Wednesday (March 8th) in Tempe, Arizona. The outing runs through March 26th in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with tickets available here.
Hopefully, the new song is a part of DevilDriver’s upcoming setlists. “Through the Depths” is a vicious, black metal-tinged ripper and the first new music from the band since 2020’s Dealing with Demons I — the initial album in the ongoing Dealing with Demons saga. Once again, frontman Dez Fafara’s lyrics are rife with personal reflection and “conversations” between himself and said inner demons.
“‘Through the Depths’ is a conversation between a higher power and humans regarding the power of thinking ideas into existence,...

When we last checked in on Santa Barbara-based metal giants DevilDriver, they were in the depths of a haunted forest set for the gothic, werewolf-filled music video “Dead to Rights” (check out our set visit footage here), a track from their highly successful album Beast. That record ranked among the band's strongest and most punishing efforts, and seemed a tough act to follow... but nevertheless, the moment of truth has arrived this week with their sixth full-length studio release Winter Kills – the band's first after departing long-time label Roadrunner and signing with Napalm Records. Thankfully, this unit seldom disappoints, and with this release they've somehow managed to crank the creative knob even higher. Despite the label transition and Chris Towning replacing Jonathan Miller on bass, Winter Kills isn't a seismic shift in tone from its predecessor, but as far as I'm concerned, this is one of those “if it ain't broke” kinda bands,...

Coal Chamber, the ’90s alt-metal band fronted by current DevilDriver singer Dez Fafara, will reform for next year’s Soundwave festival in Australia. Commented Dez: “Coal Chamber is playing Soundwave Down Under! These reunion shows are for the fans that want to see us again as well as all the people that never got to see Coal Chamber. It is and always will be a very special part of my life, so these few shows are for those people and for us. “If you’re not from Australia, better get a ticket now to come see this event!” Added guitarist Miguel “Meegs” Rascón: “Australia has never seen us, nor have we seen...

As news of his death continues to spread, friends and fans of towering Type O Negative frontman Peter Steele remembered the man with the black sense of humor, even blacker sense of fashion and a bellow that resonated for more than two decades.
"We have lost several artists over the years, but this is a biggie — this one hurts the most," Roadrunner Records A&R man Monte Conner, who first signed the band to the label in 1989, said in a statement posted Thursday (April 15). "Not just because Peter was a great, great guy, but he figures so prominently in the history of this company. He was a tortured soul for most of his life, and certainly for the entire time we all knew him.

Devildriver have commenced recording their fourth, as-yet untitled album. The band –vocalist Dez Fafara, bassist Jon Miller, guitarists Jeff Kendrick and Mike Spreitzer and drummer John Boecklin—are holed up in Edge of the Earth studios in Los Angeles, working with producer Logan Mader (Five Finger Death Punch, Gojira, Divine Heresy). The fourth album follows DevilDriver, The Fury of Our Maker's Hand and The Last Kind Words, all of which earned the band a fiercely loyal legion of fans across the globe. It also marks the band's re-signing with Roadrunner Records, their longtime label home.
