Pussyfoot ( ** 1/2 )
90 Minutes
Official Selection, Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival
A mustached foreigner looking for love in New York City sounds like it could be the plot to Borat. Pussyfoot, the new comedy from first time writer/director Dusan Sekulovic, has already drawn comparisons to the 2006 comedy. This feature, however, began shooting in late 2005, a full year before Borat put Kazhakstan on the map.

Fort Lauderdale, Fl (Cns) -- Pussyfoot, a quirky comedy from newcomer Dusan Sekulovic, had its Florida premiere at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival on Sunday, October 19th. The film, Sekulovic's first, was one of the most buzzed about movies showing during the festival, which continues through November 11th. "I'm so happy," Sekulovic said about his strangely-titled new comedy. "I've seen so many great films and I'm proud my film is part of this festival."
The film is centered around Irwin Pelkalvski, a resident alien living in New York and trying to achieve his American dream of business card status and a Jewish girl with one leg. The Yugoslavian-born Sekulovic, who plays Irwin, mentioned it's been a long process for him to achieve his American dream of getting the film made and seen.
"We started shooting September 2005. We were working at the same time that we were shooting," Sekulovic said.
