He and his wife, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin, were originally buried in Saint Pancras Churchyard, in Saint Pancras section of London, England. Their remains were moved to St. Peter's Churchyard, Bournmouth, England. On the monument it states " Their remains were removed hither from the Church Yard of St. Pancras London a.d. 1851".
