Type O Negative are widely considered the definitive goth metal band, so it’s only appropriate that on World Goth Day (May 22nd), a new AI-generated video for the group’s song “Halloween in Heaven” has been unveiled.
The late Peter Steele originally penned the track as a tribute to Dimebag Darrell, and it was included on what would be Type O’s final album Dead Again in 2007. Dimebag even appears in the new video, alongside the many rock heroes Steele mentions in the song’s lyrics: “Bonham on drums, Entwistle on bass, as guest morticians / Bon Scott on vox, Rhoads just for kicks, on guitar Hendrix / Lennon sits in with his friend George but where is Morrison?”
“An artificial intelligence video for an artificially intelligent band!” remarked Type O Negative’s Johnny Kenny, invoking the band’s signature self-deprecating sarcasm.

Type O Negative and Valentine’s Day go together. They’re the definitive romantic metal band, and now a live clip of “Love You to Death” has been released for our V-Day enjoyment.
The footage is taken from Type O’s performance at Wacken Open Air in 2007. Originally included on the seminal 1996 album October Rust, “Love You to Death” is arguably the band’s signature song, fusing gothic camp, doom metal, and genuine heartfelt emotion. Not surprisingly, it became an obligatory inclusion on the band’s setlists.
One of the most impressive aspects of Type O was their ability to perfectly render their studio output in the live setting. The late Peter Steele’s command of voice and instrument is profound, as seen in the Wacken clip, and the rest of the band members relish in their respective parts — especially keyboardist Josh Silver.

“Given how much those guys have supplemented my life with joy and awe, that we could give anything back to them is a humbling thing,” Hunter Ginn, co-host of the Radical Research podcast, said on a June episode. To those unfamiliar with the show, it might come as a surprise that the object of his affectionate statement was actually a semi-obscure Midwestern hardcore band named Die Kreuzen. But that combination of unabashed passion and extremely niche tastes is what makes Radical Research — the co-creation of self-proclaimed “incorrigible, irredeemable nerds” Ginn,...

You may know Myke Hideous from the bands The Empire Hideous, SpySociety99, The Misfits and The Bronx Casket Co. He also wrote an autobiography about his life and times in the music industry, King Of An Empire To The Shoes Of A Misfit.
Director Pawl Bazile’s film Living the American Nightmare was released in 2011. The documentary tells Myke’s story in the industry through interviews with fellow musicians.
There’s been a bit of drama surrounding this documentary. Pawl Bazile had this to say about Myke’s interviews in the film:
“One of the funniest aspects of the film is how seriously Myke Hideous takes himself in comparison to the other guys in his band. And when you see that, and as the film cuts back and forth, you see the other guys are really light-hearted about everything and then Myke is staring at the camera intently and pointing his finger.
