If you're watching the second season of 13 Reasons Why, brace yourself, because the series has a ton of surprises in store for the seventh episode. The first one is the long-awaited return of Jeff Atkins! Granted, his appearance is in a flashback as Clay Jensen gives testimony on the witness stand, but the role Jeff plays is significant.
During Clay's testimony, he's asked about a night he and Hannah Baker spend together. No, the two don't have sex. However, they do embark on something that's just as shocking - they take the drug molly. The whole scenario is Jeff's idea. He thinks the mood-altering drug will loosen up Clay enough to connect with Hannah. For those of you keeping track, this interaction takes place at some point in the late Spring of sophomore year, so that's after the events of the Winter formal but before Jessica's back-to-school party junior year.

Sheri Holland doesn't receive her own episode in the second season of 13 Reasons Why. Instead, she acts as a sounding board for those characters who grapple with facing the truth, just as she learns to do in season one. When we last see Sheri, she decides to call 911 and confess her role in Jeff Atkins's death. We don't get much of her after that call, except for a brief image of her visiting the site of the downed stop sign with tears in her eyes.
But a lot happens to Sheri in the five months after Jeff's accident - that much is obvious from her clothes and attitude - and a much tougher facade replaces the preppy cheer captain. Why is that? The answer is simple: Sheri spends time in a juvenile detention center for her initial failure to report the broken stop sign that causes Jeff's crash.

Netflix's 13 Reasons Why boasts a large cast of characters who we watch develop through flashbacks (Hannah's tapes) and in real time. We are introduced to Sheri Holland in the first episode, and she seems to be a genuine and kind-hearted young lady. Before digging into the events of season two, let's review everything that happens to Sheri and where, exactly, season one leaves her.
We really start to get a sense of who Sheri is during episode six, which is "Tape 3, Side B" in Hannah's series. On this tape, we learn about the Dollar Valentine grams the cheer squad is selling. Sheri encourages Hannah to buy one to see who she matches with. Magnanimously, Sheri steers Hannah away from her top match (Bryce) and later cheers Hannah on when Marcus calls her. In present time, we see Sheri talking to Clay about her English paper that's due. Clay decides...

Still reeling from the loss of Jeff Atkins? So are we. With all of the flashbacks and dream sequences, 13 Reasons Why offers a lot to think about when it comes to Liberty High's star pitcher. For instance, did you realize Jeff's car accident happens prior to the events in the first episode? If you rewatch the season, you'll find Jeff only appears in Clay Jensen's flashbacks. Moreover, Jeff's death is the one Principal Bolan and many of the students are referring to when they mention a drunk-driving incident that rocked the community.
Because Jeff is mentioned in season two, you may want a refresher. Let's break down the six tapes that explain exactly what happened to Jeff Atkins.
Tape 2, Side A
Jeff makes his first appearance in the third episode. He sits in the library with Clay, his peer tutor. At first, the scene takes on the mundane appearance...

If you've been watching Netflix's hit drama 13 Reasons Why, you can't miss hunky jock Jeff Atkins. We first meet Jeff in season one flashbacks, before he passes away in a car accident the night of Jessica's party. We know his character is dead-on-arrival, but the flashbacks Clay Jensen has of him throughout the first season helped him compartmentalize his feelings following Hannah's suicide. Jeff is a very important figure in Clay's life. This begs the question: does his memory live on to help Clay make peace with his current circumstances?
Brandon Larracuente, who plays the role of Jeff Atkins, makes his return of the second season in episode seven, "The Third Polaroid." Atkins's memory is brought back to light with a brief memorial on campus with his former baseball teammates. He's also back in flashbacks Clay has while testifying during Hannah's trial from a night they spent together taking the drug Molly.

There are so many independent black films being made that for us to cover that, occasionally, one slips through the cracks - like I’m In Love With A Church Girl starring Jeff Atkins (Aka Ja Rule) and Adrienne Bailon. No need to tell you what the premise of the film is about, since the title and trailer below pretty much does the job; but the film actually opened this past Friday in theaters (not anywhere near me for sure) and we are only now writing about it (although Tambay did quickly mention it in passing in his overview of black films opening this month, earlier this week).Suffice it to say that the $3 million dollar production - the first feature film directed by Steve ...
