Rome, Sep 24 (Ians) England dropped into the League B of UEFA Nations League after a 1-0 away defeat to Italy while Germany were stunned by Hungary with a 1-0 setback on home soil.
England sat bottom with two points in Group 3 of League A before Friday’s game, while Italy ranked third with five points. The two finalists of Euro 2020 played out a goalless tie in the first leg.
Italy entered San Siro without injured Marco Verratti and Sandro Tonali, as Jorginho pulled the string in the midfield and Giacomo Raspadori partnered with West Ham man Gianluca Scamacca up front. Harry Kane spearheaded England’s three-forward line flanked by Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden, reports Xinhua.
It was a tedious first half as both sides failed to create too many opportunities, and the most promising chance emerged in the fourth minute when Scamacca saw his header hit the woodwork.

Football Manager 2016 is due for release on November 15 and with 2015/16 season well underway (in real life) it’s time to think about who FM16 will select as their best players on the new game.
The beautifully-accurate football simulation doesn’t tend to get many things wrong therefore the players who make this list should be proud of their achievements and start to believe (if they don’t already) that they’re the finest footballers on the planet.
Last year’s top 15 list featured, Toni Kroos, Arturo Vidal, Radamel Falcao and Robin van Persie yet due to the influx of talent currently on offer in world football, I have predicted that they will just miss out on this year’s list. Other big players such as Thomas Muller, Thiago Silva and Alexis Sanchez once again missed the cut although will still be key players on this year’s release.

After strong rumours on Friday night that Bastian Schweinsteiger was on the verge of a move to Manchester United to reunite with former Bayern Munich boss Louis Van Gaal, his current club have publicly confirmed that an agreement has been reached between the two clubs.
Bild had reported on Friday night that a deal amounting to €20 million was on the table, and Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has now confirmed that the deal is heading towards completion.
That follows swiftly on from Bayern’s new signing Joshua Kimmich letting the cat out of the bag during his press conference when he said he was “disappointed Bastian will leave us this summer.”
Rummenigge admitted that the club’s hand was effectively forced when the German asked to be allowed to take on another challenge before the end of his career.

World Cup fever swept the summer with its superfluous amount of "Hottest World Cup players" listicles and the introduction of "The Team"—the German soccer team that came out on top. Now, to relive the glory, the German Football Federation (Dfb) filmed Die Mannschaft (The Team), a 90-minute movie that goes behind the scenes of the blood, sweat, and tears-soaked Germany's World Cup win. Produced by German filmmakers Martin Christ, Jens Gronheid, and Uli Voigt, the film will include rare footage, behind-the-scenes clips, and interviews with the 23-man team. There have some unbelievable players to grace the Beautiful Game throughout history. Whether it be Pele, Ferenc Puskas and Alfredo Di Stefano in the 1950s, Diego Maradona in the 1980s or, in the last 20 years, the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo and Ronaldinho, we have been treated to witnessing some true footballing genius.

The footballing world was stunned last night when a ruthless Germany humiliated Brazil 7-1 in Belo Horizonte. Five goals in the space of half an hour dashed the World Cup host’s hopes of winning the tournament in their own backyard before even the half-time whistle had sounded as A Seleção crashed out in ignominious fashion.
It was a night of milestones: the scoreline represented Brail’s joint-heaviest defeat, alongside their 6-0 loss to Uruguay in 1920, and was the biggest ever World Cup semi-final loss suffered by any team and more notably, Brazil’s reverse was their first on home soil since losing to Peru 1-0 at the 1975 Copa America.
It wasn’t even a contest: Thomas Muller, Miroslav Klose, Toni Kroos and Sami Khedira put Germany out of sight within 30 minutes as the disbelieving Brazilian fans could only watch on in anguish – some crying in the terraces.

Scottish actor Gerard Butler touched down in Brazil Monday to watch the host nation face off against the fierce German national team in the semifinals of the 2014 World Cup Tuesday afternoon.
Gerard Butler Attends World Cup
Butler landed in Rio de Janiero Monday and headed to a party where he hung out with former Friday Night Lights actor Taylor Kitsch. The two were enjoying the pre-semifinal revelry in matching navy blue shirts on the roof of Hotel Budweiser in Copacabana Beach.
On Tuesday, Butler headed to the Belo Horizonte to watch the Brazil vs. Germany match where he was spotted wearing the yellow jersey of the home team. Unfortunately for Butler, he didn’t get to see a Brazil victory, as the squad fell in a shocking 1-7 defeat. The loss left Brazil fans in tears and players struggling to explain how they let the game get so far away from them.

It's safe to say that Germany was on a roll when the team kicked off its World Cup game against Brazil by scoring a whopping five goals in the first 30 minutes. Brazil fans watched in disbelief as the Germans made goal after goal, with a sixth goal in the 69th minute and a seventh goal around 79 minutes into the game. Thomas Müller scored first, becoming the 13th player ever to score 10 World Cup goals. U.S. fell to Germany in the final game of the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, yet will still be advancing into the Round of 16.

Though both the U.S. and Portugal end the group stage with four points, the U.S. finished with a zero point goal differential to Portugal’s negative three. Portugal had lost to Germany 4-0.
Throughout the first half at Arena Pernambuco, the American squad weathered a storm of opportunities for Germany to go into the locker-room at halftime in a scoreless draw. However, 10 minutes into the second half, Germany’s Thomas Müller put one away to lift his team ahead. For the remainder of the game,...

Manchester United will not be signing Toni Kroos this summer after new manager Louis van Gaal pulled the plug on the move, according to the Metro.
Kroos was expected to become one of van Gaal’s first signings as United manager but just a few days after being announced as David Moyes’s successor, has passed up on the transfer.
Predecessor Moyes was believed to have been on the verge of snapping up the 24-year-old midfielder before being sacked last month, but his successor has not been quite as keen.
That’s despite the fact van Gaal has worked with Kroos in the past, during their days together at Bayern where they won the German treble.
However, it appears as though the Dutch coach, who will leave his position to manage United after the World Cup, has drawn up a list of his own transfer targets,...

Manchester City engineered a bittersweet victory coming behind after conceding two early goals to upset Champions League favourites and holders Bayern Munich away at the Allianz Arena.
Chilean coach Manuel Pellegrini followed in Arsene Wenger’s footsteps as the second English side in 2013 to win at the German giants albeit in vain. The Gunners revival in March was not enough to keep them in the Champions League last term.

Manchester City recovered from 2-0 down at the Allianz Arena to inflict a rare defeat on Champions League holders Bayern Munich, but still finished behind them in Group D.
James Milner netted the winner after David Silva and Aleksandar Kolarov’s penalty cancelled out Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze strikes.
City made a terrible start conceding on five minutes. Defender Dante picked out Muller with a lovely long ball which the German chested down as he ran infield and away from Kolarov. Joe Hart was swiftly beaten by a low strike across him.
Bayern continued to build on their lead with Brazil’s Dante nodding a Toni Kroos free kick straight at England and City stopper Hart. Ballon d’Or nominee Franck Ribery won a corner with Joleon Lescott putting in a very shaky display in defence.
From that set piece hosts Munich doubled their lead through Gotze 12 minutes in.

Things are starting to take shape in this seasons Bundesliga but that didn’t stop a few surprise results being thrown up this week.
The action kicked off with the first lower Saxony derby in 37 years, as Hannover drew 0-0 with Eintracht Braunschweig. The result sealed the 1,00th goalless draw in Bundesliga history. Hannover sit in 11th spot, with Braunschweig 2 points above the relegation zone.

Bayern Munich extended their lead at the top with a 3-0 win against Augsburg. Boateng gave the hosts the lead with an early goal which Ribery added to before the interval with a free-kick.

Goals from Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, and Thomas Muller saw Bayern Munich obliterate Manchester City in a dominant Champions League performance.
The treble-winners opened the scoring after just seven minutes through winger Franck Ribery. The France international cut inside from the left and hit a low drive which beat City ‘keeper Joe Hart at his near post.
The host weren’t given a sniff in the first 45 minutes and went into the break surprised how the deficit was just one goal.
City came out with more tempo in the second-half – winning a succession of corners from good high pressure on the defence. But their bright start to the half wasn’t enough as Bayern doubled their advantage in the 56th minute.

Many were hoping for ‘El Clasico’, but Wembley Stadium is set for a German takeover on Saturday night, in what promises to be a monumental occasion for the Bundesliga, as familiar foes Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund contest the UEFA Champions League final.
For Bayern Munich, the match offers a chance of redemption, as the newly-crowned German champions were beaten finalists in the competition in both 2010 and 2012. Last season’s defeat, at the hands of Chelsea, hit the club especially hard and many on-lookers accused the side of lacking a killer instinct. However, the team’s performances in this year’s competition, culminating in their spectacular 7-0 aggregate win over Barcelona in the semi finals, demonstrate that Bayern are now ready to make amends. Clearly, given their success in the domestic league and their performances in the Champions League, they will enter the final as the favourites to lift the trophy.

Bayern Munich will once more be without centre back Holger Badstuber for Saturday’s Champions League Final against Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund. The German has been sidelined since December.
Daniel Van Buyten and Jerome Boateng have been rotated at the heart of Bayern’s defence in his absence alongside Dante, and van Buyten is expected to get the nod to partner the Brazilian.
Toni Kroos will miss out after picking up a muscular injury in the quarterfinal clash against Juventus, so Arjen Robben will continue on the right, with Thomas Muller expected to take his place behind lone-striker Mario Mandzukic, who is preferred to Mario Gomez.
Dortmund will be without influential midfielder Mario Gotze, who will miss the final with a thigh injury.
Kevin Grosskreutz is expected to fill in, while Marco Reus will play behind Robert Lewandowski.

On 16 January 2013 it was announced that one of the most sought after managers in modern football, Pep Guardiola, was to become manager of German giants Bayern Munich at the end of the 2012-13 campaign. Since this announcement, Bayern have gone on to seal the Bundesliga and reach the finals of both the Champions League and Dfb-Pokal (the German interpretation of the Fa Cup).
Some may say that a squad that has been able to achieve so much whilst spending so little – in comparison to the likes of Sheikh-owned clubs such as Psg and Manchester City, anyway – are obviously doing something right. Thus, no changes need to be made, right?
But when the likes of Pep Guardiola comes knocking and coach Jupp Heynckes informs that he will be retiring from football management at the end of the current campaign, the decision is a no-brainer. The young Spaniard will begin his 3-year...

We tune in every weekend to watch our favourite teams in action whether it be on TV, at the grounds, listening by radio or following the minute-by-minute updates on the laptop or smartphone to watch the ‘best league in the world’. However not everyone agrees with this banner that many of us get carried away with; many people will sit and argue saying that Real Madrid have beaten the potential Champions-elect of the Epl and thus proves that La Liga is stronger than its English counterpart, or the fact that the reigning Champions of England proved to be the whipping-boys of their Champions’ League group. One way of looking at who has the stronger league would be to look at the strongest possible starting XIs that each league could feel and compare to see which is stronger, on paper at least.
Which team is stronger; that led by the record-breaking brilliance of Ronaldo and Messi,...

Luis Gustavo is expected to replace him in Jupp Heynckes’ starting XI.
Juventus could be without striker Mirko Vucinic, who is a doubt with a fever, while fellow forward Sebastian Giovinco picked up a knock in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Inter Milan.

WhatCulture goes continental with a European football round-up.
Germany
It was the opening weekend of the new Bundesliga season and Dortmund look to secure their third consecutive title; this time without the attacking talents of Shinji Kagawa.
The champions got off to a bright start with a convincing 2-1 win over Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park. Marco Reus scored before a 75th minute equaliser from Gebre Selassie, who signed following an impressive Euro 2012 tournament. It was left to Mario Gotze to notch a late winner for Dortmund and get the three points.
Their time as league leaders lasted until Saturday, when Bayern Munich trashed new boys Greuther Furth 3-0 away from home. The Bavarians suffered a painful finish to the 2011-12 season but they looked comfortable as Thomas Muller and Mario Mandzukic both netted, before Thomas Kleine added to Furth’s misery with a late own-goal.

Today is a potentially huge day in the history of English football. The national team is looking to get past the quarter final stage of a major tournament for the first time in 16 years, 20 years if you take into account tournaments on foreign soil. Everyone is asking can they win? Will they win?
Semantics aside the answer is yes. As long as you are in it when the shouting starts then anything can happen.
The problem is how do Roy Hodgson and his unlikely lads go about beating Italy then Germany then Spain or Portugal. Three quarter finals so far have shown three teams so terrified of losing they didn’t even bother trying to win. They set out to play what has now been coined “the England way” which was formerly known as “the Chelsea way” which many moons ago was mocked by Jose Mourinho when he was in...

The Chelsea Football Club from Fulham, London has won its first ever Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Champions League title in its 107-year history in dramatic fashion over Bayern Munich on Bayern's home turf.
The game was tied 0-0 at the halftime mark and remained that way for much of the second half, until Bayern's Thomas Muller scored the first goal at the 83' mark to put Bayern up 1-0. But late in regulation, Didier Drogba put in a goal for Chelsea and the score remained tied through all of regulation and 30 minutes of extra time.
At that point, it goes to a shoot out - five shots on goal for each club. Through the first four, each club made three and had one saved by its goalie. For shot five, Bayern's Bastian Schweinsteiger stutter-stepped and boinked his shot off the goal post, leaving it to Drogba again. And his shot did not miss,...

The Champions League final is upon us. Chelsea have the chance to become the first team from London to ever win the European Cup and at the same time qualify for next year’s tournament. Roberto Di Matteo can make himself a Stamford Bridge legend, succeeding where Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant, Carlo Ancelotti and Andre Villas-Boas all failed, with the bonus of finding his temporary status upgraded to permanent.
Both teams have a lot of key men missing through suspension, and injury doubts linger over their replacements, but here are the five men who could cause Chelsea another Champions League final heartbreak.
1. Franck Ribery & 2. Arjen Robben
Bayern’s two best players, remarkably similar in style and personality, it’s amazing they don’t get on better!
Ribery is naturally right footed, but equally adept with his left. He will start on the left wing with license to roam right across the pitch,...

On a bad night for Manchester Bayern Munich displayed trademark efficiency to defeat City 2-0 at the Allianz Arena. Two Mario Gomez tap-ins gave the German side three points and moved them top of Group A with two wins from their opening two games. Manchester City had two strong penalty appeals turned down but on balance were outclassed by their opponents who could realistically have won by four or five. Manchester United also threw away a two goal lead to draw 3-3 with Fc Basel.
What a tough group Manchester City have – Napoli, Villarreal and of course their opponents for this game, Bayern Munich. The Sky Blues’ European journey was just beginning but a loss to Die Roten would put Roberto Mancini’s side 5 points behind the Germans just two games in. It was a huge task for the visitors –the toughest match of the group stages as not only...

German National Football Team takes third place at World Cup
A German sports agent named Michael Becker is making some interesting claims about the current lineup Germany's national football team.
Der Spiegel quotes him as claiming there's a "bunch of gays" in the new lineup and under the leadership of new head coach Joachim Löw there's some sort of gay conspiracy afoot.
Becker comes off as quite the patriarchal blowhard in this piece. He has an apparent axe to grind since his big client is the German team's injured captain Michael "the bulge" Ballack.
Michael Ballack
Ballack wasn't able to play at the World Cup, but that "bunch of gays" seemed to do quite well without him – securing a third-place finish. And that's not all, young player Thomas Muller got the World Cup's coveted Golden Boot award for most goals by an individual player. (For more on the World Cup generally,...
