Doug Jones, an independent film programmer with almost three decades of experience in film exhibition, contributed to the development of film culture across the U.S., and a former contributor to IndieWire, died November 2.
The news was announced on Instagram by Vidiots, the Los Angeles non-profit video store and cinema where Jones had worked as a buyer and programmer since May. On November 3, the video store announced that its screenings would be canceled through November 5, due to losing “a dear member” of its team. On November 4, it paid tribute directly to Jones.
“It breaks our heart to share that we have lost the great and wonderful Doug Jones, a beloved and indispensable member of the Vidiots family and a cornerstone of the global film programming community,” reads that statement posted on Vidiots’ Instagram account. “Doug is forever loved by his beautiful son and family, and an enormous network of devoted friends and colleagues.

As part of the Lost production crew, aside from writing the occasional episode, Gregg Nations is the script coordinator in charge of continuity. That's right, I said continuity when talking about a show that takes place in the past, present, and future – all at once.
Amongst other things, it is Nations that catalogs the minutiae that fans sift through religiously looking for clues to the shows meaning (check out LOSTpedia, the temple constructed to reflect those efforts), along with the various bits of background information on each of the many characters on the canvas, historical figure name dropping, and – as fractured as it may be – the overarching time-line (and for all we know, parallel timeline to boot).

A: Yep. Here they are... ParkCityLodging.com. Rent a condo, fill it with your team. Split the cost if you have to. The deeper in town you stay, the more expensive. It's totally possible to find housing once the festivals have announced. If you're not planning on going anyway, it should be ok to wait to book a place. Some people do book months in advance to be sure though. Stay as close to Main Street as you can get for your budget. There's a shuttle for Sundance, don't rent a car. Half the people you want to meet will be on the shuttle with you. If you have any time, Ski or Snowboard. No one is skiing during this week. Mind you, if you have a film there you Should Not Have Any Time. Volunteer. Both festivals need volunteers every year. Get in touch, and see if you can help.
