Newcastle are planning a surprise move to bring David Ospina to Tyneside in the summer, according to Football Insider.
Providing we keep our Premier League status next year, there is likely to be an overhaul of the current squad and no-one’s position in the squad is safe.
While Tim Krul has been a long-term absentee, Rob Elliot has proved to be a more than adequate replacement – saving us on many occasions – but Karl Darlow has looked suspect in the few appearances he has made so far. With that in mind, the club’s transfer committee appear to be looking elsewhere and have the Arsenal deputy in their sights.
The Colombian has seen his game time severely limited since Petr Cech’s arrival at the Emirates in the summer and he is thought to be considering his options. Whether he’d want to make the move...

Aleksandar Mitrovic’s introduction to St James’ Park life has been a harsh one – and it was his 16th-minute red card that ultimately forced Newcastle United on to the defensive and an eventual 1-0 loss against Arsenal.
Despite a magnificent defensive display from the Magpies – their second in succession – they succumbed to an unfortunate Fabricio Coloccini own goal, with an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain cross-shot deflecting in off the unfortunate Toon skipper.
Left with 10 men following Mitrovic’s stamp on Francis Coquelin – which, although a tad harsh, was deserved because it was reckless and added to his two yellow cards earlier in the season – Newcastle fought bravely but simply could not hold out against an Arsenal side desperate to get their title challenge back on track.
Steve McClaren’s side have failed to win any of their opening four Barclays Premier League games, they have not scored in either of the last two,...

After spending hours working out how you were going to fit a Chelsea defender into your Fantasy Football team and still make sure you had a credible strike-force, your dreams were crushed as Swansea City hadn’t read the blueprint. For future notice, Garry Monk, the Blues aren’t meant to concede any goals at Stamford Bridge hence why we all forked out a sackful of precious moolah on Branislav Ivanovic and John Terry you ridiculously bloody impressive 36-year-old weekend-ruiner, (oh and two R’s in Garry looks ridiculous).
While I’m on the subject of Jose Mourinho’s week one bottle-jobs that brings me nicely onto Thibaut Courtois who decided to get himself sent off for a lethargic challenge on Bafetimbi Gomis and in doing so grabbed himself a three game suspension (subject to Chelsea’s recent appeal). Arsenal are generally considered to not be too far away from challenging for the Barclays Premier League title in the 15/16 season. The recent arrival of Petr Cech, mixed with the world-class talent of players such as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil suggests The Gunners are the strongest they’ve been in over a decade, with Arsene Wenger no longer afraid to splash the cash on top players.
The arrival of Cech from domestic rivals Chelsea could finally be the world-class number one goalkeeper Arsenal have been struggling for in recent years, with both David Ospina and Wojciech Szczęsny struggling to nail down their spot in the starting eleven.
But is Petr Cech enough? Is that the final piece in the jigsaw to allow Arsenal to win their first league title since 2004? If not, who else do The Gunners need to sign in order to catch Chelsea?...

Arsenal are into the final of the Barclays Asia Trophy after beating a Singapore Select XI 4-0 in their first pre-season game. A hat-trick from youngster Chuba Akpom as well as a Jack Wilshere penalty gave Arsenal a comfortable victory, and they will now go on to face Everton in the final on Saturday. Arsene Wenger put trust in his young squad, having only named six substitutes for the match and opportunities being given to several youth players.
Several big names were not involved, with the likes of Mesut Özil, Petr Cech and Alexis Sanchez missing out. The youngsters did not hesitate to take their chance though, with Arsenal always in control and rarely threatened at the back against what was a very average Singapore Select XI. New signing Cech is expected to start on Saturday, after youngster Emiliano Martinez was given a chance to impress in their landslide victory.

Newcastle United promised their supporters that “investment” would be made this transfer window – yet barely a month before the start of the 2015-16 season the Magpies have failed to recruit even one senior player.
Although the Magpies hierarchy insist they are taking their time in order to ensure they sign the right calibre of players, Newcastle – along with Crystal Palace – are one of only two Premier League sides yet to recruit a player this summer.
In fact, as of Tuesday July 7th, the other 18 Premier League clubs have signed 49 players between them at a combined cost of approximately £180 million.

Those 18 clubs have signed an average of close to three players each and have spent, on average, £10 million. The Magpies and Palace meanwhile have parted with £0 and brought in precisely nobody.

Real Madrid are edging closer to completing the signing of David De Gea from Manchester United according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Los Blancos are reportedly close to agreeing an initial fee of £18 million for the goalkeeper with an additional £3.5 million due to be paid based on performances and achievements.
The report claims De Gea has made up his mind after taking time off to assess his options. There’s little doubting that he has made himself more than at home in Manchester but the chance to return to his home city of Madrid looks like it was too good to turn down.
If he does leave like Marca say he will, the 24-year-old will become Rafael Benitez’s first signing of his reign at The Bernabeu. The deal is expected to be announced when the transfer window officially opens in July.

Petr Cech has reportedly told Chelsea that he would like to join Arsenal this summer according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
The 33-year-old fell behind Thibaut Courtois last season in the London club’s ‘keeper pecking order, spending much of the campaign on the bench. And with the Belgian proving to be every bit as good as his reputation had suggested, Cech will now have to leave Stamford Bridge in search for first team football.
And there hasn’t been a shortage in the number of clubs reportedly interested in the Czech Republic man’s signature with the likes of Paris Saint Germain and Manchester United both keen. But it looks like London life appeals to the former Rennes man which has to be one of the main reasons behind his apparent desire to move to The Emirates Stadium.

Having already been linked with Newcastle’s highly-rated and hotly-wanted winger Rolando Aarons this morning, Arsenal are busy once more in the rumour columns, having apparently agreed a deal to nick Petr Cech from Chelsea.
The 32 year old ‘keeper has grown unhappy at Stamford Bridge having seen Thibaut Courtois promoted to first choice after a phenomenally successful spell on loan with Liga champions Atletico Madrid and rumours surfaced in the summer that he wanted out. Arsene Wenger is apparently the man who has answered his call.
According to reports regurgitated by the Daily Star, the Czech international will be on his way to Arsenal after a deal was agreed in principle to send him across London.
“It’s believed Wenger has already held talks with the Blues, and according to some reports, has agreed a deal to sign the veteran goalkeeper in January.”

Deadline Day; there’s nothing quite like it. Whether you’re a Newcastle, Spurs, Nottingham Forrest or Luton supporter, fans go through the same emotions until 11pm creeps in.
Deadline Day in theory is a dreadful way to do business and run a club: managers are awake even earlier before training to outline the day ahead, agents and players rush to get a move organised and a bumper contract and players are valued at much higher prices than they were even a week ago.
This year, Jose Mourinho can probably sit back and relax knowing the major signings were made in July and that the only business might see Petr Cech leave. It will likely be different for Arsene Wenger and Louis Van Gaal, who should have a very stressful day ahead.
There’s only 12 hours left so expect a chaotic evening, and you can expect a lot of things to happen…...

In our last Chelsea poll, you voted overwhelming in support of Chelsea’s ability to win the league this season. 88% of you think Jose Mourinho’s side stand a great chance of Premier League victory next May, while only 12% believe there is still work to be done.
Our next poll is a follow-up to an article posted yesterday related to Mourinho’s need to sell one foreign player from his squad in order to meet the Premier League’s quota for non-homegrown players for the season. To clarify, a Premier League squad is only allowed to have 17 players who are over 21 years old and not developed in England, aka have spent a minimum of three years playing in this country prior to their 21st birthday. Chelsea’s squad currently has 18 such players, meaning one will either have to be sold or spend the season twiddling his thumbs.

Petr Cech is going through the most challenging time in his career, having lost his place as Chelsea’s first choice keeper for the first time since joining the club back in 2004. Naturally, being a world class talent and determined professional, he’s responded to such setbacks in the best possible way. Reports last week had him turning up for additional training sessions on his day off, determined to prove to Jose Mourinho that he deserved to be back between the posts on matchday instead of his Belgian rival, Thibaut Courtois.
Cech is also active on Twitter, and being a footballer, often attracts trollish messages from supporters of rival clubs. One such user decided he’d have a pop at Cech’s recent displacement. Instead of ignoring such empty provocation as most mere mortals would, Cech instead opted to fire back with a magnificent retort.

Monaco and Paris St Germain have joined the hunt for Chelsea’s disgruntled goalkeeper, Petr Cech, who was relegated to the bench in favour of Thibaut Courtois for the team’s Premier League victory over Burnley last Monday.
While Jose Mourinho has repeatedly stated his wish for both keepers to stay at the club and fight for their place, the situation is complicated by his need to sell one foreign player from his squad in order to comply with Premier League quotas. Having been Chelsea’s first choice for over a decade, Cech was left disappointed not only to lose his place to his young rival, but also in Mourinho’s refusal to inform him ahead of time. With Cech now 32 years old, Chelsea may see now as the ideal time to cash in on the veteran keeper before his form and value start to decline.

Chelsea’s Premier League title bid gets underway at Burnley this evening with the Blues having been made favourites by most bookies to lift the trophy next May. With several high profile signings in the bag, including a much-needed new striker in the imposing shape of Diego Costa, the team are certainly looking in good shape to hit the ground running.
While Jose Mourinho has a history of outstanding success at the club and a deep squad at his disposal, there are nevertheless some big questions which need answering before we can properly assess whether his team has what it takes to take the title. Being expected to challenge for every major trophy on the domestic and European stage will certainly take its toll and every weakness in Mourinho’s squad is sure to be tested from the very beginning, especially with so...

In the grand scheme of Jose Mourinho’s achievements in world football, if he manages to convince anyone to part with any money at all – whether that’s in terms of a transfer fee or a slither of his unjustly gigantic wages – for Fernando Torres, it would immediately be deemed the greatest moment of his starry career to date.
That is the objective that faces the Portuguese manager, as his club’s transfer policy of buying as many emerging foreign stars as possible – without intention to ever play them in some cases – and the latest decision to bring Didier Drogba back to the club means that the first-team squad has one too many foreign players to comply with the Premier League and Champions League rules relating to the home-grown quota.

Any side with ambitions of winning the Premier League title needs to have a solid spine, a dependable goalkeeper first of all, the likes of Peter Schmeichel, Petr Cech or Edwin Van Der Sar. Two reliable defenders willing to put their body on the line for the team, the likes of John Terry, Jamie Carragher, Nemanja Vidic, Sol Campbell or Vincent Kompany. A striker that can put the ball in the back of the net is surely a must too, Thierry Henry, Alan Shearer, Didier Drogba, Wayne Rooney or Cristiano Ronaldo, possibly.
But for any great team, perhaps most crucial of all is to have solid central midfield base. Petr Cech’s agent has today suggested his client could quit Chelsea and join either Paris Saint-Germain or Monaco this summer, according to the Evening Standard.
The two French clubs have made an enquiry into the availability of the goalkeeper this summer, who remains uncertain of his future at Stamford Bridge.
The Czech shot-stopper has been the Blues’ first choice keeper ever since joining from Rennes in a £7 million deal in 2004, but his position at the club is now under threat from Thibaut Courtois.

The 22-year-old has been offered a new contract at the SW6 outfit and has previously insisted he will only consider staying in west London if he can be assured of regular first team football.

On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has today admitted he is unsure whether he will return to Stamford Bridge once his spell at Atletico Madrid is over, according to the BBC.
Courtois was signed by Chelsea from Genk in 2011 but has yet to make a single appearance for the Blues, instead spending each of the last three seasons on loan at Atletico.
And now, ahead of his side’s crunch Champions League final encounter with rivals Real Madrid, the 22-year-old has admitted it “may not be the healthiest thing” for him to return to west London.

The young goalkeeper, who has established himself as No.1 for Diego Simeone’s side, fears his playing time will diminish should he return to Chelsea this summer, given the form of Petr Cech.
Courtois said:
“The two of us want to play everything. Nobody will be happy to play...

Ezequiel Lavezzi was the difference in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-final as the Argentine scored one and made one to give his side a slender advantage of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
Lavezzi gave the hosts the lead after just four minutes when he volleyed home after an error from John Terry but Eden Hazard levelled from the penalty spot before half-time. In the second period, an inch-perfect delivery from Lavezzi resulted in David Luiz putting the ball into his own net. Late on, Javier Pastore scored a superb solo effort to extend the Parisian’s advantage.
Chelsea started the game in the worst possible fashion as they fell behind after just four minutes. John Terry, fresh from scoring the decisive own-goal against Crystal Palace at the weekend, saw his weak header picked up by Ezequiel Lavezzi, who volleyed home from 10-yards.

Chelsea’s 1-0 victory over Everton on Saturday was the deserved result of a dominant team’s battling performance, fighting to victory against an opponent determined to sit the game out for a point.
Or at least, that’s the narrative Jose Mourinho would like you to believe.
The truth is that Chelsea were lacklustre for large stretches of the game, creating little against Everton’s outstandingly organised defence and needing Petr Cech to be at his best against several dangerous counter-attacks. Mourinho certainly deserves enormous credit for instilling his team with a never-say-die work ethic and greater defensive discipline than the schizophrenic Chelsea sides from virtually every season since the departure of Carlo Ancelotti, but while the Blues remain difficult to beat, there is an increasingly strong sense that they are altogether less confident in their attacking play and opponents are wising up to them.

Jose Mourinho may have claimed in his post-match press conference that Chelsea were always in control against a resilient Everton, but another uninspired display will give cause for concern after requiring a Tim Howard blunder in added time to secure the three points.
A foul by Jagielka on Ramires gave Lampard the chance to whip in a free-kick, where an sliding John Terry got enough of a touch on the ball to distract the American keeper into flapping what should have been a routine collection into his own net.
Everton can count themselves unlucky to lose, and perhaps even not to win after enjoying many of the game’s best opportunities in the first half. The match was played at a rapid pace, but where Everton’s defence coped comfortably with Hazard and Willian’s repetitive movement and reticence in releasing the ball, Chelsea struggled to contain the quick,...

Eden Hazard fired Chelsea to the top of the Premier League table with three goals against an ineffectual Newcastle United.
Chelsea barely had to be at their best to secure victory against a side who showed plenty of willingness but little final product. While small defensive lapses reinforced the importance of John Terry’s organisational skills in absentia, missing his first Premier League match of the season with a muscle inflammation described as ‘half an injury’ by José Mourinho, Newcastle were guilty of wasting the few opportunities they managed to create.
Both sides pushed forward early on, but it was the Blues who created the only chances of note. Eden Hazard gave a hint of things to come with a low strike after being played in by a lively Cesar Azpilicueta, and a Frank Lampard free-kick zipped wide of Tim Krul’s right-hand post. Newcastle face a daunting trip to Stamford Bridge to face an in-form Chelsea side who recently ended Manchester City’s flawless home record, and will be out for revenge against the team that defeated them 2-0 last November.

With Loic Remy suspended and Papiss Cissé and Yoann Gouffran struggling for fitness, Newcastle face a crisis up front and may be required to call upon Shola Ameobi to lead their line.
Cheick Tiote will also be a keenly felt absence in the Magpies’ midfield, with the Ivorian expected to miss two more games through injury. Fabricio Coloccini’s knee injury also makes him a major doubt. Gabriel Obertan may return.
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Fernando Torres will not be risked, although could be in line for a return to the side against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea has made a marked improvement since arriving at Old Trafford from Atletico Madrid in 2011.
After a difficult spell in England which saw his body strength and abilities to cope with the rigours of English football called into question, the Spaniard has put his troubles behind him.
De Gea’s performances have been one of only a few positives from what has largely been a troublesome debut season for David Moyes, who has struggled to step into Sir Alex Ferguson’s shoes.
United have already lost eight times this season, the most games they have ever lost since the inception of the Premier League, and are floundering in seventh.
But while the Red Devils have been struggling, midfielder Darren Fletcher recently singled de Gea out for praise, saying:
He has been fantastic for us. There has not been a better goalkeeper around for the last 18 months.

Branizlav Ivanovic’s long-ranged drive ensured Manchester City’s 100% home record ended as Chelsea moved joint-second after a pulsating encounter at Etihad Stadium.
City started the brightest of the two and had a blizzard of chances in the opening first-half but were made to pay for their wastefulness.
Alvaro Negredo burst into the Chelsea box early on but could only blaze over, while Yaya Toure was presented with a tap-in but could not connect with Aleksander Kolarov’s cross.
Toure again missed a good opportunity after some good work down the left from Jesus Navas but his first-time looping shot arched just over Petr Cech’s crossbar after 10 minutes.
Yet David Silva had the best chance for City in the first-half when the marauding Toure bullied his way into Chelsea’s box, his pass across the face of goal finding Silva, who spliced wide.

James Tomkins and James Collins put in heroic defensive performances as West Ham picked up a priceless point away from home.
The Hammers’ defence produced a stubborn display to deny Jose Mourinho’s side their sixth straight win of 2014.
The match started at a frantic pace, Oscar testing Adrian after just 8 minutes with a curled effort from the edge of the box which the Spaniard tipped onto the bar.
Minutes later and West Ham had their first opportunity, Tomkins’ header drawing a good save from Petr Cech after Stewart Downing had whipped in a free-kick.

Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have agreed a swap deal that could see striker Diego Costa arrive at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is on loan at Atletico, will stay in Madrid permanently as part of the proposal that would see Costa head in the opposite direction.
The 21-year-old stopper wants to stay in Spain and will only consider returning to west London if he is given assurances that he will be No.1.
Chelsea wanted to retain the services of the starlet despite the fact he has never played for them, but the Belgian has said he would prefer to by playing for a club that can offer him games.
Petr Cech is still very much No.1 under Jose Mourinho, and it is thought the Portuguese has no immediate plans to make Courtois his first-choice keeper.

Samuel Eto’o became the first Chelsea player since 1954 to hit a hat-trick against Manchester United. A heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge despite Javier Hernandez’s consolation left David Moyes and the Red Devils 14 points off the pace, effectively ending their bid to defend the Premier League title.
Ashley Young drew a low early stop from Petr Cech as United made the better start. Despite that hosts Chelsea went ahead after a quarter of an hour through Eto’o. The veteran African saw his near post shot loop off Michael Carrick and over David De Gea in the opposite corner.
Goalmouth action scarcely followed in this tight, cagey contest. Danny Welbeck scuffed a close range effort straight at Petr Cech late on in the first half after. Cesar Azpilicueta did just enough to put the Red Devils frontman off.

Manchester United travel to Chelsea on Sunday hoping for better than the bore draw the sides produced in August. David Moyes also knows that Jose Mourinho has never lost a home Premier League game in English football. No pressure then.

Eden Hazard’s solo effort and a Fernando Torres goal sent Chelsea top of the Premier League in another ground out win over Hull City. Jose Mourinho’s men completed a double over the Tigers with victory at the Kc Stadium.
Hosts Hull made a strong, composed start as they had against other heavyweight opposition. This approach was typified by wingback Ahmed Elmohamady, who ran at Ashley Cole at every opportunity. Petr Cech held the Egyptian’s swerving strike on seven minutes.
Blues striker Torres then saw a deflected effort off Alex Bruce fly into the side-netting as Chelsea quickly countered. Such instances were rare early on as the Tigers made more of the running.
Jake Livermore forced Cech to palm behind after good holdup play from Yannick Sagbo midway through the first half. The Ivorian striker then shanked wide himself when Elmohamady charged down John Terry’s lazy clearance.

Chelsea kept pace with Premier League top two Arsenal and Manchester City by beating European hopefuls Southampton on the South Coast thanks to an inspired substitution. Oscar set up Fernando Torres and Willian before scoring himself to sink the hosts.
Torres lashed across the face of the home goal with a minute played as the Saints defence were caught napping. Moments later the Blues striker was set away by Gaston Ramirez’s mistake, but Jose Fonte got his teammate out of trouble.
Chelsea continued their dominant start with Andre Schurrle fired narrowly wide. Kelvin Davis then had to come smartly off his line and snuff out the danger from Ramires when Torres played him in.
Southampton settled and threatened through skipper Adam Lallana, but Ashley Cole blocked his effort after tucking in from left back. Torres then lashed over for the visitors after popping up on the left and racing infield.

Chelsea travel to European hopefuls Southampton on New Year’s Day knowing their hosts have only one Premier League win in their last five against the Blues on the South Coast.
That solitary victory for the Saints since 2000 came in March in an all-English scoring affair. Jay Rodriguez and Rickie Lambert were on target at St Marys with Chelsea only briefly level through John Terry under interim boss Rafa Benitez.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team have only picked up one point from the last nine available on home turf and five throughout December. The reverse fixture exactly one month before this second meeting of the season saw Southampton lead early – again through Rodriguez – but then succumb to second half Blues goals from Gary Cahill, Terry and Demba Ba.
Such a lean festive season has seen the Saints slip to ninth place in the table and as many points off the European places.

Far from being billed as Jaws 2, this encounter will be a serious test of both sides’ title credentials as they sit next to one another in the top four. Chelsea have won only one of their last five meetings with the Reds at Stamford Bridge to boot.
This pits Blues boss Jose Mourinho against protégé Brendan Rodgers for the first time in Premier League history, and the Special One stirred the pot when he suggested Liverpool could become champions.

Arsenal and Chelsea are now just separated by a single point after the London clubs played out a tense draw in the final Premier League game before Christmas.
Gunners manager Arsene Wenger tried and failed for the tenth time to beat Blues boss Jose Mourinho. Liverpool lead the way, but just two points separate them, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton as we approach the halfway house of Boxing Day.
Wenger made four changes after being hit for six at Manchester City last time out. Thomas Vermaelen and Kieran Gibbs replaced the injured Laurent Koscielny and Nacho Monreal in defence. Jack Wilshere started a two-match ban and Mathieu Flamini dropped out, so Tomas Rosicky and Mikel Arteta returned.
Mourinho meanwhile had just five survivors from the Capital One Cup quarter-final extra time exit at Sunderland. Only Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Frank Lampard, John Obi Mikel and Willian kept their places.

Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Chelsea played out a cautious draw at the Emirates as Jose Mourinho extended his unbeaten record against Arsene Wenger. Two points now separate the top five with both the Gunners and the Blues firmly in the title race.
A cagey and tactical first half saw Chelsea create the better openings. Two Blues Brazilians combined as Ramires nodded over from a Willian centre. Frank Lampard then volleyed against the underside of the bar when Eden Hazard’s fine ball over the top put him in.
Hosts Arsenal wanted a penalty ten minutes before half time when Theo Walcott went down in the box under the challenge of Willian. Referee Mike Dean waved away appeals, however. Willian also worked Wojciech Szczesny as the interval approached.
Ramires lunged in on Mikel Arteta in the second half on a slick, wet pitch, so match official Dean...

Despite Chelsea closing the gap at the top of the table to two points with victory over relegation strugglers Palace, manager José Mourinho still finds himself with no answers to the chronic inconsistency which has plagued his side’s league campaign so far. An unconvincing victory was secured in the first half after Ramires thumped home from outside the area, but a tense second half in which Petr Cech was repeatedly called into action will only deepen doubts over the Blues’ ability to maintain their title challenge in the new year.
Fernando Torres may have tapped home the opening goal after Willian’s zipping strike was palmed away by the excellent Julian Speroni, but with his other major contribution limited to a well-timed duck out of the way of Ramires’ match-winning strike, Mourinho would be unwise to consider this any sort of turning point in solving his strikeforce’s crisis of confidence.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has ruled out the prospect of making new signings in January – despite the fact he has one of the lowest-scoring strike forces in the Premier League.
Mourinho is aware that his side’s title hopes are hanging by a thread following their sobering 3-2 defeat to Stoke City at the weekend, and the league standings – and the statistics – make for difficult reading for the Portuguese.
Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba have scored only four league goals between them this season and it was once more up to the midfield to come up with the goods against the Potters, with winger Andre Schurrle netting a brace.
The ‘Special One’s’ decision to let Romelu Lukaku join Everton on loan this season looks even more bizarre taking the problems currently being endured by his shot-shy strikers into account, while news that he...

Eden Hazard stole the show as Chelsea remained in second place in the Premier League following an action packed game at The Stadium of Light which ended 4-3 to the visitors, but it was a mad two minutes for Phil Bardsley that will no doubt have the fans and Head Coach Gus Poyet talking.
Sunderland tried to take advantage of Chelsea’s poor start numerous times in the opening ten minutes, but it was the result of a Craig Gardner free kick that opened the scoring. The shot fired straight at the Chelsea wall, but Jack Colback timely found the USA international Altidore before firing home his first Premier League goal for Sunderland after 14 minutes.
However, the lead lasted only three minutes, as a poor defensive performance from The Black Cats following a Chelsea corner lead to the equaliser – despite plenty of chances to clear the ball away from danger,...

The 32 teams for Brazil 2014 have been decided and until the Group Stage draw on December 6th the main talking point will be the star players that failed to make it to the tournament.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gareth Bale, Robert Lewandowski and Petr Cech are among the world class players that will not feature on the big stage next year, but it doesn’t take success at a World Cup to become a true great of the game.
The following five players never made it to a World Cup finals but are still considered to be some of the best to grace the game we love, while World Cup success can help to achieve immortality in the football hall of fame it’s not the only way to get inducted.

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard has advised teammate and countryman Kevin De Bruyne to leave on loan in the New Year to ensure he is ready for the World Cup, according to Team Talk.
De Bruyne was Belgium’s top goalscorer in qualifying for next summer’s competition, but has started only four matches for the Blues this season, failing to complete any of them.
And now, Hazard, his club and international teammate, has recommended the youngster seek a loan move to boost his playing time ahead of the 2014 tournament in Brazil.
De Bruyne, who spent last season on loan at Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen, has previously admitted he would be open to another temporary move from Stamford Bridge, something of which Hazard believes would benefit the 22-year-old.
“For sure, playing at a World Cup without having been in action for a year, I think that’s very difficult.

While the absence of the in-form Fernando Torres would be a problem for the Blues, Samuel Eto’o has performed well when deputising. Manager Jose Mourinho looks to be finally getting the best out of the striker and as a result it lifts the burden off the Chelsea midfield to be getting all the goals.
West Brom know all about the threat of Chelsea and how they’ll play, as manager Steve Clarke has long been a friend and former work colleague of Mourinho. He will name his side to nullify to threat of the Blues on the break, and will hope he can spring a counter at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were denied a seventh straight win in all competitions and the chance to go above Arsenal at the top of the Premier League by Yoan Gouffran’s header and a Loic Remy strike. Newcastle United responded to successive defeats with a famous and ground out victory.
Magpies manager Alan Pardew kept faith with eight of the XI that forced Manchester City to extra time in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday. Top scorer Remy returned in attack to partner Shola Ameobi with Papiss Cisse making way.
Davide Santon replaced Massadio Haidara at left back whilst Yohan Cabay started instead of Vurnon Anita in midfield. Hatem Ben Arfa only made the bench.
Jose Mourinho made nine changes from midweek when his impressive second string proved too strong for Arsenal. David Luiz and Juan Mata, who impressed in their respective roles then, kept their places. Key Blues spine members Petr Cech,...

Fernando Torres scored twice on his 100th start for Chelsea as the Blues ran away worthy winners in Germany.
The visitors took the lead through Torres in the 5th minute. The Spanish international headed home at the far post from an Ivanovic corner.
Chelsea had Petr Cech to thank for the side staying ahead at half-time. The long-serving ‘keeper made a number of good saves in the first-half to keep Schalke at bay.
Schalke may feel they should have levelled the game in the second-half when defender Benedikt Howedes had a glorious chance to head home from inside the area, but the centre-back missed the target and Chelsea survived.
The hosts were then made to rue the missed opportunity after Fernando Torres doubled Chelsea’s lead with 20 minutes to play. After good work from playmaker Eden Hazard, the Belgian set up Torres for a simple finish to put the game beyond doubt.
