SYDNEY -- Senator Helen Coonan will be sworn in Sunday as the new minister for communications, information technology and the arts, Prime Minister John Howard said in a statement Wednesday. Coonan replaces Daryl Williams, who had previously announced he would not stand for re-election. Brian Rosen, chief executive of the government's primary funding agency, the Film Finance Corp., welcomed the appointment. "Senator Coonan is an avid moviegoer with a really strong interest in the sector," Rosen said in an interview. "We are hoping she will heed the industry's calls for further funding."...
