From “Cooking Papa” and “Food Wars: Shokugeki No Soma” to “Delicious in Dungeon” and every Ghibli film in between, anime has a rich history of wholesome food porn. Yet even so, it might still come as a surprise to some fans of “Spy x Family” that the show’s first theatrical outing would revolve so heavily around a cooking competition.
It’s not just any cooking competition, mind you. After it looks like spy extraordinaire Loid Forger might be taken off Operation “Strix,” the mission that first brought his found family together, he decides to help his adopted daughter Anya win a coveted prize at Eden Academy, thereby ensuring that the Forgers can stay together for at least a little bit longer. The ever-perceptive Loid quickly realizes that the key to victory lies in making the principal’s favorite meal, a rather “elegant” pastry named Melemele. And so off the...

An HBO series from A24, starring Park Chan-wook, & Robert Downey Jr., scarcely requires marketing. However, the latest trailer for The Sympathizer, based on Viet Thanh Nguyen’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, excites fans to watch the show.
The Sympathizer | Official Trailer 2
A Spy Has Countless Faces in the Latest Trailer of HBO & A24’s ‘The Sympathizer’
The trailer for The Sympathizer makes it hard to figure out what is happening, which is the film’s goal. The buzzy upcoming Max series crosses genres and tones, tilts from tragic to satirical, and covers the complicated history of the post-Vietnam War era—all anchored by a mysterious, unknown spy (Hoa Xuande) in its center.
The fact that Downey portrays multiple different scary avatars of American imperialism is only the tip of the iceberg regarding The Sympathizer’s several levels of mystery and deception.

The radical post-apocalyptic sci-fi lesbian fantasy you need this season, A. Hans Scheirl, and Dietmar Schipek’s Austrian odyssey Flaming Ears has been newly restored in 4K and is arriving next month. Released in 1991 and set in 2700, Kino Lorber will release the “cyberdyke” avant-garde science fiction film at Metrograph beginning November `18 and we’re delighted to premiere the exclusive new trailer.
Set in the burnt-out, all-lesbian city of Asche, the overlapping tales of three women unfold: comic book artist Spy (Susana Helmayr); pyromaniac pervert performance artist Volly (co-director Pürrer); and utterly amoral, reptile revering alien Nun (co-director Scheirl). With comparisons to Lizzie Borden’s Born in Flames, B. Ruby Rich put it best: “Imagine the film that J.G. Ballard might have made if he’d been born an Austrian dyke, and don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
The 4K restoration was performed in 2020 by Kinothek Asta Nielsen e.

When the 77th Golden Globe Awards announce their list of TV winners on Sunday, January 5, look for some of the big names to be HBO’s “Succession,” Amazon’s “Fleabag” and HBO’s “Chernobyl.” The 11 television prizes are often tough to predict as voters don’t usually follow the lead of their older sister, Emmy. Instead, Hollywood Foreign Press Association members tend to gravitate toward the newest shows and hottest stars. Scroll down to see Gold Derby’s final winner predictions in all 11 TV categories listed in order of their racetrack odds, with projected winners highlighted in gold.

The clock is ticking on The Good Place Season 4 Episode 7.
A year has passed for the Good Place residents and judgement day is here. Literally.

Did Team Cockroach help turn the humans into better people? Or will their failure doom the human race forever?
Saying the stakes are high is an understatement.
This was by far the best episode of The Good Place Season 4. The time for dilly-dallying is over, and Eleanor and her friends threw caution out the window to give the experiment one final shot at succeeding.
It comes as no surprise that Simone spent the entire year collecting data on the neighborhood.
Maybe, this isn't the Good Place. Maybe, it's a test. My best guess...it's some kind of experiment. We're being observed in a closed environment.

Simone steps up and fights for what she believes is right on The Good Place Season 4 Episode 6.
Not all of the four humans are deserving of The Good Place, and to Simone, it becomes abundantly clear.
Related: The Good Place Season 4 Episode 5 Review: Employee of the Bearimy
Brent's insensitive behavior throws the entire experiment into jeopardy and makes the humans question what kind of system would place Brent in The Good Place, to begin with.
Given how intelligent Simone is, I'm surprised she didn't question everything sooner.
She migh have spent her first couple weeks in the Good Place believing she was in a coma and treading the line between life and death, but once she came around, she went back to the Simone we know and love from The Good Place Season 3.
During Team Cockroach's time in the fake Good Place, it was a bit harder to distinguish what kind of person everyone was.

A review of this week’s The Good Place, “Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy,” coming up just as soon as you get me a glass of hot pig urine…

The Good Place Season 4 Episode 4
The Good Place season 4 episode 4 “Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy” ends with a moment that suggests a set up to one of the most tried and true methods in the sitcom handbook: the odd pairing. Michael and Jason stand on a railroad handcar, wearing their finest zootsuit attire, and preparing to race into hell to rescue Janet.
A Michael/Jason pairing, whether it be for a series of scenes or an entire episode, is a thrilling concept for The Good Place to explore. But before the show gets to that, take a moment to appreciate what “Tinker, Tailor, Demon, Spy” does for both Michael and Jason’s character development before it inevitably gets them together next week.

Mystery Men creator Bob Burden has completed a Kickstarter campaign.
The cartoonist has achieved funding for the Thrilling Visions vol 2: Pandemonium Blvd.
The book will include sketches, doodles, illustrations and anecdotes from throughout his career.
"This book is about creativity," he told Newsarama. "Surrealism. It's about having fun.
"There's memoirs. Anecdotes. Tutorials. Reflections. Epiphanies. All one or two pages, here and there. Just like in the first book.
"I like to think of Pandemonium Blvd as an art gallery showing inside a book - an art gallery with drawing rather than paintings and sculptures. Or, a gallery of artworks with the artist's comments, descriptions and illuminations."
Burden's campaign raised $16,034 (£9,782) over a $8,500 (£5,186) goal.
He created the Mystery Men as part of his Flaming Carrot Comics series. The characters became the subject of a 1999 cult film starring William H Macy, Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, Eddie Izzard and Hank Azaria.
