Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched the Season 10 season premiere of “The Masked Singer,” which aired Sept. 10 on Fox.
“The Masked Singer” kicked off its 10th season on Sunday night with a special episode — and a lotta Lovato. Demi Lovato as “Anonymouse” was the first celebrity unmasked this season — although there’s an asterisk there. Lovato didn’t appear as part of the competition (otherwise they absolutely would have continued into future weeks), but as a one-off.
Lovato, of course, got their start at Disney — a.k.a. the Mouse House — via the Disney Channel movie “Camp Rock” and series “Sonny with a Chance.” So the “Anonymouse” character itself was most definitely a hint to Lovato’s identity under the mask.
Lovato opened the show with a strong take on “What About Love,” as originally performed by Heart. “Just like Michelle Obama, Oprah and Angelina Jolie,...

“I never get anything right! I got one!” a dumbfounded Ken Jeong exclaimed at the end of Wednesday’s second episode of “The Masked Singer” Season 9. Magic struck when the notoriously bad guesser correctly named Howie Mandel as the secret celebrity hiding inside the Rock Lobster costume. Ken was the only panelist who got it right; Jennifer McCarthy Wahlberg and Nicole Scherzinger both went with Martin Short, while Robin Thicke picked Steve-o.
Ken chose Howie because of two clues in particular: the judge’s gavel (referring to his recurring stint on “America’s Got Talent”) and the hospital scrubs (a reference to his role on “St. Elsewhere”). “This is someone who is a legendary comedian — someone who is one of my influences,” Ken stated emphatically after the red crustacean screeched out “S.O.S.” by Abba while running around the stage as if he was being boiled.

After 15 unmaskings so far on “The Masked Singer” Season 3, Jenny McCarthy stands atop the judges’ leaderboard in terms of correct guesses. She’s expertly named six of the costumed celebrities throughout the season, compared to five apiece for Robin Thicke and Nicole Scherzinger, and just one for Ken Jeong. Jenny’s secret weapon was guessing that Jordyn Woods was hiding behind the Kangaroo mask in the face-offs, as she was the only panelist who predicted that shocking reveal. We’re keeping track of the judges’ scores all season long, so scroll down to see the updated tallies.

Talk about prescient: “The Masked Singer” was all about covering up before masks were cool… or mandatory. “It’s the safest show if you’re a celebrity,” quips executive producer Craig Plestis. “We give you masks. It’s a little bit the tagline we’re using: Protect you protect your identity and your health.”
Now, as Season 3 of “The Masked Singer” ends its run with a two-night finale on Tuesday and Wednesday night, the world is in a very different place than it was when the season began back in February.
“I think the Masked Singer weathered the storm of this pandemic but also kind of kept America together a little bit,” Plestis tells Variety. “I really believe Masked Singer was this respite for an hour out of all the trauma that everyone is going through. This is the time we can bond with everyone that’s in the house right now.

That sound you hear are millions of “The Masked Singer” fans gasping in shock. At long last, Ken Jeong made his first correct guess for Season 3 during the semi-finals when he named baseball star Barry Zito as the Rhino. For three seasons now, Ken’s countless bad guesses have made him the punching bag of his fellow judges and the contestants, including recently when the Frog nicknamed him “Dead Wrong” Ken Jeong. We’re keeping track of the judges’ scores all season long, so scroll down to see the updated tallies.

Stop the presses! Ken Jeong was right about something on Wednesday night’s semi-finals episode of “The Masked Singer.” The comedian and consistently worst guesser on the reality TV show’s panel correctly guessed that former baseball star Barry Zito was hiding beneath the Rhino mask. Watch Rhino’s performance of “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw above.
Throughout the season, Ken had also been adamant that whoever the Rhino was must have been on the former CBS drama, “Jag.” So was it true? “Ken, you went out on a limb,” Zito teased in his unmasked interview before revealing the answer. “I don’t know how you pulled it off, but you were dead on. I played a pitcher for the Navy in ‘Jag.’ When Ken started talking about Episode 9, Season 9, I said somebody needs to see their therapist. They have too much of an obsession.”

The Masked Singer‘s Rhino had perfect pitch… just not the kind that was going to help him win Fox’s loopy singing competition.
After all, Barry Zito, formerly of Major League Baseball’s Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants, is a Cy Young Award winner known for his cutter-slider. In his post-baseball career, he’s also a singer/songwriter currently living and playing music in Nashville. But at the end of Wednesday’s episode, Rhino — and Zito with him — was booted during the Season 3 semifinals. (Read a full recap here.)

(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s episode of “The Masked Singer.”)
“The Masked Singer” unmasked and eliminated another contestant on this week’s episode, the final one ahead of the Season 3 finale next week. That competitor was the Rhino, who turned out to be former professional baseball player Barry Zito. And though the former Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants ballplayer has also had a music career, he is primarily known for his time in the Mlb. He said he’s “just as shocked as anybody” that he made it to “The Masked Singer” semifinals.
“I learned in my baseball career that setting goals is great, but being a little too obsessed with results can put me in a dark place. I know that about myself,” Zito told TheWrap. “So my only goal going in was to truly enjoy the experience and not be too caught in winning or being first place.

I’m calling it now: The Masked Singer competitor I think will take home the Golden Mask in Season 3 is Frog.
“But wait, weren’t you just telling us how Turtle should take it all?” you cry? Well, yeah. And I still think he should. But after watching the way the crowd and judges absolutely lit up at Frog’s ribbeting performance in the semifinals this week — just like they have every single time his webbed little feet have hit that stage — I think it’s no contest: The more entertaining act is going to win out over the one with greater vocal talent.

Of the four remaining celebrities on “The Masked Singer,” the Rhino is the one we are most surprised to see in the semifinal on May 13. He is vying for one of three slots in the final against famous folk disguised as the Frog, Night Angel and Turtle. While the other contestants still standing are best known as singers in real life, the Rhino came to fame as an athlete.
Although the four judges got this right, they have been off base when it comes to guessing who the Rhino really is. We think we have his true identity figured out after watching all of his clues videos again as well as his performances.

The Rhino has rallied since he was almost eliminated on the April 1 episode of “The Masked Singer.” He is among the five contenders competing on the May 6 quarterfinal. The Rhino is coming off of his best week ever, with his cover of “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett earning him praise from the four judges.
The previous week he had done well with his version of “10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay & Justin Bieber. Just prior to that had been when he faltered with his cover of “What a Man Gotta Do” by Jonas Brothers. His earlier performances of “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall Horan and “Have a Little Faith in Me” by John Hiatt were all much better suited to his voice.
We’ve been doing some digging to try and figure out who is hiding inside the Rhino costume.

For his final performance, Hayes performed “Story of My Life” by One Direction on Wednesday night’s episode.
Hayes told Variety that he took the “Masked Singer” gig because, coincidentally, his next album — the second in his “Wild Blue” trilogy — will focus on themes of “the unknown and embracing the unknown.”

He won over the studio audience and four judges. We won’t see the Rhino compete again till April 22 when he will face off against the Banana, Frog and Kitty in quarterfinal 2. However, all four should be featured in the special sing-along episode of “The Masked Singer” on April 15.

Masked Singer host Nick Cannon shocked — shocked! I say — the judges of the Fox reality show Wednesday when he announced that that night’s Super Nine double episode would be his last.
As Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger, Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke had varying degrees of success trying to look surprised, Cannon suddenly shouted, “April fools!” Oh Nick Cannon, you card!

Last time we saw the Rhino on “The Masked Singer” he had just found out he numbered among the top 3 in Group C. On the April 1 episode, he returned, along with Astronaut and Night Angel, to face off against the best of both Groups A and B.
This Super 9 are fighting for their places in the quarter-finals. To do so, they must win over both the studio audience and four judges. Of the remaining contestants, the Rhino is the one who has shown the most improvement.
He started off shakily with his version of the John Hiatt hit “Have a Little Faith in Me.” He did a whole lot better with “Nice to Meet Ya” by Niall Horan. And he proved to be quite the showman with his take on “Tracks of My Tears” by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles.
We’ve watched all those performances again as well as the three clues videos.
