America's Next Top Model: All-Stars 17.11 "Highlights" Review
Hey, you know what this hideous season of Top Model needs?
Why, an episode that recaps every absurd, maddening minute of the hours of our life that we've sunk into this show, of course! Yes, "Highlights" was Top Model's typical late cycle look back at the good times, the bad times, and the times that made me want to throw my TV out the window. I don't typically watch clip shows, as there's very rarely any interesting information that gets presented, but because I love/appreciate everybody who reads and comments on my weekly reviews, I figured "why the heck not?". You're all top models in my eyes, my little pot ledoms.
And...there wasn't anything that stimulating that came from the new footage. At all. I mean, if you're into arguments about time on the phone or finding out that Alexandria has 13 besties (!), then hey,...

I'm not going to play, last night's episode of America's Next Top Model made me want this All Star cycle to be over with quickness. Not only am I over trying to suspend my disbelief that most of these girls were the chosen as "All Stars," but as of yesterday we found out Kelly Cutrone will be replacing Andre Leon Talley as a judge next season. Alright, I won't postpone this any longer, let's dive in.
As with the last two episodes, the girls are in the limo cab on their way back to the model house and are discussing the night's elimination results. Lisa says she was surprised she won. I don't know what kind of Toddlers and Tiaras thing she's got going on with her hair in these interview clips, but it needs to go.
The girls seem very surprised about Sheena's sashay away and keep saying,...

Sheena has prowled back to parts unknown, taking her Kimora Lee dreams with her. What does this all mean, yo? As we open this next episode of the campiest "Antm" cycle ever, we receive an interpretation from Lisa: It means -- cue digital drum roll -- no one is safe. And here comes a brand new Omg, girl! Kristin Cavallari has sashayed her bad-girl butt into the Top Model house to talk about how to deal with haters! The takeaway: Just be a bitch, gurl, because it can earn you sick cash! Bre listens to all this and realizes the...

Another week, another dramatic episode with a bunch of models (who make us want to skip that cheeseburger for dinner) trying to get another shot at fame on America's Next Top Model: All-Stars. The ladies were all on edge coming into the third week, because after big personalities like Brittany and Sheena getting the boot, no one was safe. And tonight was no different, as the girls tested their on-camera poise along with their sense of balance while standing up high (and we don't mean their self-esteem). Reality Stars Get Together: An unfamiliar voice called the girls at the top of the show, and it turned out to be Dancing With the Stars' Kristin Cavallari. Why was she there? Good question. She...

Tonight on America's Next Top Model: We learn Kristin Cavaralli's lessons on how to be a reality star, how to get interviewed by Mario Lopez, what "booty tooch" means, and what Tyra thought of her Saturday Night Live parody. Oh, and some modeling happens in there somewhere. On Stilts!
After winning best photo for showing her chewed up food to the camera in the Pink's Hot Dog challenge, Lisa points out what the rest of us have noticed: This cycle is supposed to be about personality, yet two of the biggest personalities -- Sheena and Brittany -- were the first to go. The lesson the girls take away from this is, "No one is safe!" The lesson they Should take away is, "This whole thing is bullsh*t so let's just have fun with it." But I'm sure they'll catch on eventually.

Tyra keeps saying this season of America's Next Top Model: All-Stars is all about personality. But in week two, she let another of her biggest, most entertaining personalities bite the dust. What gives?
According to the judges, Sheena didn't embody her branding word, "unexpected," well enough in the Pink's Hot Dogs photo shoot, and that means she doesn't have what it takes to be a walking, talking brand who's even better in photos than in person. On Top Model, expect the unexpected -- especially when it comes to Tyra's elimination logic.
I spoke to Sheena yesterday. Read on for her thoughts on her unfulfilled expectations for the All-Star cycle, the show's suspicious "agenda," what "unexpected" means to her, and more.
Congratulations on being an All-Star. It's too bad for us that you didn't last as long as some of the other girls.
Oh, don't cry for me, Argentina! I'll be fine!

Um, I am still recovering from last night's episode of America's Next Top Model. It took me three — yes, three — hours to watch the show last night because there were too many amazingly awkward screen-shots to take. This morning, I had 94 pictures from last night's show on my iPhone — 94 pictures of awkwardness mostly of a bizarre sexual nature. Go to the bathroom, grab a drink and maybe a snack and settle in for this recap.
We start in the van talking about the awesome prizes up for grabs this season. Virginal Shannon seems to be the most psyched and even comes across as a little scary if Lisa's face is any indication.
Angelea says she doesn't care that Brittany was sent home. Alexandria laments over the fact that so many people don't like her and want her to go home but says she knows that a lot of people...

As we all know by now, America's Next Top Model: All Stars is not all about taking pretty pictures, it's also focused on building yourself as a brand and establishing an empire, which explains why each of the models had to design their own hot dog this week and sell it in a photoshoot which represented them as a person. Watch Nigel explaining the new cycle below: Each of our remaining models meets a branding expert who gives them a word that fans would use to describe them and that they must aim to build their brand on. Kayla is slightly offended when she suggests her word should be 'Lgbt' but the expert tells her that was "five years ago" and she is given 'free' instead. The other words are: Lisa (daring), Sheena (unexpected), Shannon (trustworthy), Dominique (survivor), Allison (unique), Angelea (persistence), Bre (girlfriend), Camille (more)...

Last season on America's Next Top Model: Regular Folks, you started to see signs that maybe they were taking this fashion thing seriously after all. Sure, there was the requisite Top Model goofiness attached to the season because, well, this is Top Model, but the show took steps to gain a bit of legitimacy. You had the bee beauty shoot, actual couture fashion being showcased, and a fairly decent group of models, so when it was announced that cycle 17 was going to be an all-star extravaganza, I had to get a little excited.
I mean, surely America's Next Top Model: All-Stars would cut down on the silly photo shoots to really give these girls the boost they need to enter the next stage in their career?
Y'all, "Ashlee Simpson" (the episode) was a hot mess. Not a campy, crazy, ooh-girl-that-was-so-fun type of hot mess; no, this was a...

Poor Brittany was the first casualty of the "America's Next Top Model" all-star season. On the way home from judging, the girls go bonkers over the prizes for the winner of the season. There's a quick montage of all the girls saying they deserve to win. I just wish one had been like, "Naw, I should get like fourth place."
Branding (unfortunately, not with cattle prods)
At the Model Manse, Alexandria says she's "a misunderstood star." Snerk. Whatever you need to tell yourself to sleep at night. Um, what is with the talking-head interviews where everyone has on Chemo Patient Chic? Weird.
Anyway. Tyra shows up with Martin Lindstrom, a "brand strategist genius" (Tyra's words). He is there to school them about their individual brands, which he says should boil down to one word that he assigns them. Lisa gets daring, Sheena gets unexpected and then Martin tells Kayla her...

I can't believe it's already time for another season of America's Next Top Model. Last night's premiere picked up right where I remember it leaving off - which is to say, ridiculously.
Our fearless leader, Tyra Banks, tosses and turns in her bed as visions of RuPaul — no, wait — visions of herself emulating past contestants dance around her head.
She wakes to tell us it's not a nightmare; it's a reality. She went back through all the old cycles and brought back our favorites for a season of Antm All-Stars (or mostly the people who caused some kind of controversy)!
This season is gonna get cray because not only are the All-Stars coming, but a whole slew of B-d list celebrities will be giving the girls pointers, possibly trying to hit on them and definitely trying to pimp out their new clothing line (Kardashians, I am looking at you).

America’s Next Top Model has gone the Top Chef route and gone All-Star on viewers.
Because it is Antm, the returning contestants were a mixed batch of talent and infamy. Is Lisa D’Amato really an All-Star or do they just want to bring back the girl who peed in a diaper? The ultimate icing on the drama cake would have been Jade Cole from Cycle 6 coming back, but she rejected the offer. Drats!
The enthusiasm of the live audience and the returning contestants was really infectious, though, so much so that I enjoyed "Nicki Minaj" more than any other Antm episode in recent cycles.
It was also really fun to see some of my favorite contestants like Bre, Laura, Brittany, Sheena, Isis, and Allison back in the game.It didn’t seem like they shared my sentiment, however.. Aside from a few happy faces, most of the models...

We're here, "America's Next Top Model" fans. The newest cycle and probably the one we've most been looking forward to - all-stars. After a terrifying open where Tyra is apparently being haunted by the past contestants, we meet our girls:
Shannon Stewart (Cycle 1), Camille McDonald (Cycle 2), Brittany Brower (Cycle 4), Lisa D'Amato (Cycle 5), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Bianca Golden (Cycle 9), Dominique Reighard (Cycle 10), Isis King (Cycle 11), Sheena Sakai (Cycle 11), Allison Harvard (Cycle 12), Laura Kirkpatrick (Cycle 13), Angelea Preston (Cycle 14), Kayla Ferrel (Cycle 15) and Alexandria Everett (Cycle 16).
Here is our photo gallery if you want to check out the all-star ladies.
I'll have to confess - Cycle 7 was the first one I watched, so the girls from prior to that one are new to me. I apologize if I don't know what they're all about right away. But let's get to it!
Highlights from the intros

To prepare ourselves for the crazy, perhaps catastrophic premiere of America's Next Top Model: All Stars, let's familiarize ourselves with the contestants. We know a lot about these ladies from their time on the show, but what have they accomplished since then? What mysterious mystical force convinced them to take another shot at the much-coveted and often laughed-at title? Was it Tyra?
Some of these questions will be answered throughout this week, when we take a look back at the lives of these All-Star contestants. We'll also highlight a few of their best moments on America's Next Top Model.
We've got a little taste of Hawaii for you today, with the sexy Sheena Sakai up next.

Well, Top Model fans, we're still a week and a half away from opening up the specially wrapped present crazy aunt Tyra left us, which is sure to feature more than enough hot mess antics, ridiculous delusions, and frustrating decisions. The present, you ask?
America's Next Top Model: All-Stars.
Ahead of the show's premiere on September 14th, I thought we could channel all the excitement and anticipation for the fireworks that are sure to come with a little early pontificating. Before us, we have 14 models of various capabilities and experience, but there can be only one to take the title and with it, the prizes, which include a spread in Italian Vogue and the chance to be a guest correspondent for Extra. Just which of these women do you think will come out on top?
At this stage in the game, I think I'll be putting my money on.

When Tyra Banks announced that Cycle (Season) 17 of "America's Next Top Model" would be an "All-Star" edition featuring past contestants, we were concerned that the show would be more about catfights and less about the catwalk. The show's name is "America's Next Top Model," not "America's Second Chance Top Model." How would these also-rans (many of whom are in their late 20s or even 30s) succeed in an industry that embraces youth and is always looking for the next new face? The cast shots were recently released, and fall back upon the stereotypes the girls portrayed in their prior seasons. Click on the "Launch Gallery" button below to see the photos: Conservative Shannon is portrayed as an angel, while icy Camille dons a sparkly bodysuit. Party girl Lisa is doing the splits, masculine Dominique sports a tie, bombshell Sheena poses provocatively, country bumpkin Laura holds a fishing pole, and wide-eyed...

When "America's Next Top Model" announced that the next cycle would be an "All-Stars" round, we couldn't be more pleased. In fact, we wondered what took so long?
The show taped a fashion show in Los Angeles on Wednesday (May 11) with all the judges and, hello, the models who are returning to battle it out for what they believed was theirs in the first place.
We're most surprised that delusional, but hilarious Jade Rodan from Cycle 6 wasn't included. And we're sad to see that they've invited "Why the long face?" Alexandria Everett from the current Cycle as she was extremely annoying and we haven't been able to enjoy her elimination long enough.
Who are we excited to see again? We thought Cycle 11's transgender contestant Isis King could stand another chance. And we're happy we'll be able to see if farm girl Laura Kirkpatrick has become worldlier since Cycle 13. And finally,...

There are so many reasons to thank you, Ty-Ty. You’ve provided us with reality ridiculata for 16 straight cycles. You call them cycles. And you created an “all-star” cycle inviting back previous “models” who will once again fight to “win” the title of America’s Next Top “Model.” I simply cannot wait to watch these “human beings”! But I have another reason to thank you: According to the all-stars line-up circulating the Web, you actually recruited some of my suggested alums! (Though The CW is not making any announcements yet.) That’s right: Cycle 4′s Brittany Brower, Cycle 5′s Lisa D’Amato,...

" Survivor " has done it. So has " Top Chef ." Now, " America's Next Top Model " is getting its own all-star edition. "America's Next Top Model All-Stars" was announced Thursday by creator/head judge Tyra Banks . The show, debuting this fall, features 14 memorable contestants from 16 past cycles, including the most current season. Check out the 14 contestants in the gallery below: With three "mean girls" Bianca (Cycle 9), Dominique (Cycle 10) and Alexandria (Cycle 16) all living under one roof, there will be catfights galore. They'll surely go head-to-head with the outspoken Bre (Cycle 5), Sheena (Cycle 11) and Angelea (Cycle 14). Meanwhile, expect conservative Shannon (Cycle 1) and Southern sweetheart Laura (Cycle 13) to play mediators. As of course, Lisa (Cycle 5) will bring the laughs. However, there were some obvious omissions, including fabulous plus-sized model Toccara (Cycle 3), Jade, the self-proclaimed "undiscovered supermodel" (Cycle 6), and Jael, the edgy girl with rocker flair (Cycle 8). With some of the contestants pushing 30, the winner likely...

You guys, I can’t help it: I’m smizing. How could I not after hearing Tuesday’s news that the CW is launching an all-star edition of America’s Next Top Model? It’s about Ty-time. Talk about long overdue! We’ve seen all-star seasons of shows like Big Brother, The Amazing Race, Top Chef, Survivor, and So You Think You Can Dance — how has it taken this long to reunite some of Top Model’s most broken-down baby dolls?
Of course, how an all-star edition will fare will depend on which alums Top Model casts. In order to draw in viewers,...

The Whip It soundtrack. Not as easy as it looks, this soundtrack compiling malarkey. When I ruminated on which tunes might have trundled their way onto the tie-in record for Drew Barrymore’s roller derby-derived directorial debut Whip It, I got stuck at the grand total of two. The Devo number which shares its title with the Ellen Page-starring movie was one of course, while I also figured that a flick about female roller-skaters represented a most inviting opportunity to smuggle the Anna Karina-trilled/Serge Gainsbourg-penned power pop nugget Roller Girl onto the soundtrack of a major motion picture. But beyond that duo of offerings, I was clean outta ideas. No such difficulties for Whip It’s soundtrack supervisor and long-time Wes Anderson cohort Randall Poster though, as he has managed to er, whip up a 19 song-strong album that arrays veteran stagers next to bright young things,...

Since the debut of America's Next Top Model in 2003, women of all sexualities have been included as part of the televised reality contest. Cycle 1's Ebony Haith had the pleasure of being the first out contestant, who dealt with some homophobia from her housemates when she wanted her girlfriend to visit. She was followed by Cycle 4's Michelle Deighton, who came out as a bisexual, open lesbian Kim Stolz on Cycle 5, and Cycle 7's Michelle Babin, who struggled with her sexuality while on the show.
By the time 18-year-old Elina Ivanova was cast as a competitor on the current cycle of Top Model, she had the pleasure of being known for her modeling ability instead of being known as "the lesbian." In fact, it seemed very much a non-issue in the editing of the cycle, which touched less on Elina's sexuality than on her crush on her fellow contestant,...

"America's Next Top Model" next week episode will be surprising. With the title "Now You See Me, Now You Don't", the ladies pull a disappearing act for this week's challenge. Based on the clip, it can be seen that there is a person who shows up with a full dress and covered by green fabric. This kind of stimulation has the function to show the models a wonderful breakthrough for making a different appearance on television. The green fabric will only make visible the dress but not the models.
Next week in "Top Model" tradition, seven remaining girls (Marjorie, Sheena, Elina, Samantha, Analeigh, Joslyn, and McKey) test their on-camera talents when they shoot their "CoverGirl" commercial with the help of cycle 10 winner, Whitney Thompson. During judging, Tyra Banks will reveal this cycle's overseas destination and one model will be sent home.

The CW network have released a sneak peek into the next episode of "America's Next Top Model" cycle 11 which is entitled "The Fiercee Awards". The snippet takes a brief look into what the judges have to say about Sheena Sakai's latest photo where she replicates the raw emotion when someone is stepping on her dress.
To be broadcast on October 8, the show will take off after Clark Gilmer was eliminated. In the new week, the aspiring models are going to get the chance to do one-on-one photo shoot with host/judge Tyra Banks. They will also be challenged with another photo shoot where they take on Los Angeles' famous Orpheum Theatre.
There, they will be asked to show off their best backstage award show snafu pose from being caught in the restroom as well as revealing raw emotions during a phony acceptance speech. The episode will present some girls...
