After Trump Campaign Posts Video Referencing A ‘Unified Reich,’ Biden Blasts Use ‘Hitler’s Language’
Former President Donald Trump’s campaign deleted a video showing the words “unified Reich” from social media, which caused an uproar.
On May 20, Trump’s Truth Social account shared a 30-second campaign video that displayed a message about a “unified Reich” in America if he becomes president again this November.
The video, deleted from Truth Social and Instagram on Tuesday, had also been posted to the former president’s Instagram account.
It contained a series of headlines predicting “what happens after Donald Trump wins” and “what’s next for America,” with responses like, “Economy Booms!” and “15 Million Illegal Aliens Deported.”
The somewhat blurred text appeared beneath the headlines two times in the clip.
“Industrial strength significantly increased … driven by the creation of a unified Reich,” the text read.
The term “Reich” means “realm” or “empire,” which is often associated with Adolf Hitler’s Third Reich, which began in Nazi Germany...

Poppy Harlow is exiting CNN after a morning show failure and sixteen years with the network. She had experienced a shakeup in 2022 and things just continued to go downhill. Now, she has made the decision to leave. Keep reading for all of the details.
Poppy Harlow Exiting CNN After Morning Show Failure
After sixteen years with CNN, Poppy Harlow is leaving and a lot has to do with a big shakeup that occurred in 2022. She had spent over five years co-hosting CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto and they made a great duo. Then, she was moved to an early morning slot alongside Don Lemon and Kaitlan Collins for CNN This Morning. Lemon had come from anchoring his own primetime show whereas Collins was a correspondent. Unfortunately, the match did not light and Lemon was starting to get into trouble. He then made an inappropriate comment about former presidential candidate, Nikki Haley.

Poppy Harlow, who has been with CNN since 2008, is exiting the network after 16 years, having announced her decision in a memo to colleagues on Friday, April 26. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CNN CEO Mark Thompson revealed the news during the network’s 9 a.m. editorial call before Harlow emailed her co-workers to confirm her decision. “Mark, Amy [Entelis], and the CNN management team have been wonderful and have given me the space to make this decision. I am very grateful to them,” Harlow wrote. “CNN gave me the opportunity to travel across this country and around the world — often at the worst of times, but when humanity also shows the best of itself.” Harlow joined CNN in 2008 and served as the anchor for CNNMoney.com, while also reporting for CNN and CNN International. She became a New York-based CNN correspondent in April 2012 and, in 2017, took over as co-anchor of CNN Newsroom with Jim Sciutto.

While some surprises can be nice, The View fans were not okay with the network’s latest decisions. Recently, fans expressed their anger over the latest episode that was aired.
Scheduling Shake-Up
Unexpectedly, The View had a major scheduling mix-up that left fans up in arms. When the fans went to watch their regularly scheduled program, they were in for a rude awakening. Unbeknownst to them, the panelists were taking some time off the air. Little did they know, the episode airing was a month-old replay, but fans caught on quickly. Understandably, the sneaky move left many fans raging upon the discovery of the show not being live. Although fans are enraged, the daytime TV network is offering a return date to appease the masses in the meantime.

Undeniably, nobody likes sloppy seconds, but The View fans in particular are not having it.

If you turned on ABC with hopes of hearing The View cohosts’ fiery takes on the latest news Monday morning (of which there is a lot), well, you were probably disappointed to see that the show wasn’t live or new. Unfortunately, that will continue to be the case all week, as the show is on a bye week, with reruns airing all week while the hosts have a bit of a spring break off. On Monday, it was the February 15 episode featuring Jennifer Lopez as the guest of the day that aired. On Tuesday, April 23, the show will again show its episode from March 12, which featured Tamron Hall and Patton Oswalt. Then, on Wednesday, April 24, the network will re-air its March 14 episode with actor Ice-t and CNN’s Jim Sciutto, and on Thursday, April 25, fans can revisit the show’s April 2 episode featuring Valerie Bertinelli, Sonequa Martin-Green, and Wilson Cruz.

As CNN races to catch up with the streaming world, its strategy in launching CNN Max — more than a year after the failure of CNN+ — will be a hat trick: offer news on its main subscription platform while preserving as much of its fast-declining linear audience as possible.
The pressing need to get CNN into the streaming space is obvious. Competitors like Fox News have already begun building an audience on their own streaming services. And adding news to the Max platform gives Warner Bros. Discovery a significant leg up over competitors like Netflix and Disney+, which currently do not carry live news at all.
“There is only one CNN and a significant number of U.S. homes have cut the cord. So if you don’t have a robust streaming solution, you can’t reach them,” Dave Morgan, CEO of cross-channel TV advertising firm Simulmedia, told TheWrap.

The new Warner Bros. Discovery streaming platform Max announced Thursday the addition of CNN Max, a 24/7 news service that will be free to subscribers.
The streaming news offering will launch Sept. 27, just over a year after the hastily aborted launch of CNN+. That project, which launched in May of 2022, was shut down three weeks later as the Warner Bros. merger with Discovery was freshly underway.
“CNN Max will leverage CNN’s reporting excellence, global newsgathering, and live programming from CNN US, CNN International, and feature original programming built specifically for Max,” the company said in a Thursday release. “CNN Max will be a new seven-day-a-week/24-hour service and be part of an open beta for news that will enable experimentation with product features, content offerings and original storytelling, all with the input and feedback from the Max community.”
The service will feature known CNN anchors and new programming built specifically for the streaming platform.

CNN, whose brief foray into subscription streaming was snuffed out shortly after the close of the WarnerMedia-Discovery merger in April 2022, is officially getting real estate on Max.
A new offering, CNN Max, will be added to the streaming service in what Warner Bros. Discovery called an “open beta” on September 27. It will consist of a 24/7 stream pulled from the news network’s U.S. and international feeds, with a sprinkling of original fare, with user feedback welcomed. For many reasons, some having to do with contracts with pay-tv operators, it won’t be a full-over-the top version of linear CNN, and certain talent and new shows like the new 9 p.m. hour hosted by Kaitlan Collins will not be in the mix.
Wbd CEO David Zaslav hinted at the new venture during the company’s quarterly earnings call several weeks ago, saying news and sports make SVOD platforms “come alive.

Kate Bolduan’s next shift on CNN hasn’t started quite yet, but she’s acting as if it has. A group of cameras is flocking around the news anchor in a New York studio that has recently been updated, and she presses producers to let her rehearse a story she needs to have mastered by the time she gets on air. “We don’t want to get this half right,” she tells those listening to her.
Neither does the news network.

CNN News Central, the network’s new daytime programming blocks, will begin its roll out next week.
The New York-based morning block, airing from 9 Am Et to noon Et, will debut on Monday, April 3, with anchors John Berman, Kate Bolduan and Sara Sidner.
The Washington, D.C.-based block, airing from 1 Pm Et to 4 Pm Et, will debut on April 17, with anchors Brianna Keilar, Boris Sanchez and Jim Sciutto.
The revamped daytime lineup is intended to replicate the feel of election night, with heavy use of graphics and visuals, highlighting correspondents in the midst of newsgathering. CNN will launch its new dayside lineup in April as CNN News Central, an effort to highlight its newsgathering and coverage of breaking stories and events.
The network announced in January that the lineup would feature anchor trios in the 9 a.m. Et-noon and 1 p.m. Et-4 p.m. blocks. They will appear in newly designed studios featuring heavy use of graphics and emphasizing updates from correspondents in the field.

Boy, the hits keep on coming for CNN’s semi-new CEO Chris Licht — and we don’t mean the network’s lineup.
CNN just notched its lowest ratings in nine years across all its day parts for the week of Jan. 16 through Jan. 22, 2023, according to Nielsen averaging just 444,000 viewers in primetime, 93,000 in the all-important age 25-54 news demographic and 417,000 in viewers and 80,000 in the demo for total day. It’s the first time since May 2014 that the network failed to reach 450,000 viewers.
By comparison, during the same period Fox News drew 1.4 million viewers and 176,000 in the demo while MSNBC notched 629,000 total viewers and 69,000 in the demo. In primetime, Fox News had 2 million viewers, 256,000 in the demo and MSNBC had 943,000 viewers and 91,000 in the demo.

CNN unveiled a revamped daytime slate and anchor trios Wednesday that aim to take a “fresh approach” to its daytime programming through two new programs.
The network will host a standalone weekday 9 a.m.–12 p.m. Eastern block anchored by John Berman, Kate Bolduan and Sara Sidner out of CNN’s New York studios, while the subsequent 1 p.m.–4 p.m. Eastern standalone program will be hosted by Brianna Keilar, Boris Sanchez and Jim Sciutto.
The new daytime lineup resumes the network’s shakeup under the leadership of CNN Worldwide Chairman and CEO Chris Licht, who stunned viewers in September when he shifted network staple Don Lemon from hosting his own primetime show to co-anchoring “CNN This Morning” alongside Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.

CNN said it would shuffle anchors across its weekday and weekend daytime schedules, grouping them together in new ways the network hopes will attract viewers as it attempts to work its way out of a longtime ratings shortfall.
John Berman, Kate Bolduan and Sara Sidner will lead a three-hour mid-morning program from New York that lasts from 9 a.m. to noon, while Brianna Keilar, Boris Sanchez and Jim Sciutto will anchor a three-hour Washington, D.C. broadcast between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. John King will keep his noontime show “Inside Politics” on weekdays.

CNN, in its latest on-camera lineup moves, has unveiled plans for a new weekday show to run from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., to be anchored by John Berman, Kate Bolduan and Sara Sidner out of the New York City studios.
Also on daytime, CNN CEO Chris Licht has unveiled another new stand-alone news program to run from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with Brianna Keilar, Boris Sanchez and Jim Sciutto as hosts out of the news channel’s Washington studios. The latest changes follow Licht boarding CNN in May 2022 with a mandate to “reimagine” the 24/7 news channel.
“We are leaning into our greatest strengths, showcasing our unparalleled newsgathering operation and giving our anchors the room to be more authentic. We’ve seen how our audience responds to this format, and we believe it will put us in a position of strength going into the evening and primetime hours,” Licht said in a statement.

CNN unveiled an overhaul of its dayside lineup on Wednesday, with plans for morning and afternoon blocks of programming that will each feature anchor trios while emphasizing more energetic breaking news and event coverage.
The approach, the network indicated, would resemble the network’s special event coverage like election night, with a heavy use of graphics and standing anchors, along with ongoing updates from correspondents in the field. A recent example was the way that the network provided ongoing coverage last week of the House Speaker vote.

Sniffling and choking back tears, CNN’s Don Lemon on Friday delivered an emotional farewell as he signed off on his final primetime show, “Don Lemon Tonight,” before moving to anchor the network’s morning show on Monday.
“I was not always perfect, because no one is perfect,” Lemon said after playing a montage of highlights from his eight-year run on primetime. “There are immense pressures that come with this job and in particular this time slot at 10 o’clock, when people are going to bed. So sometimes all I could do — I am going to be honest with you — is just smile and just get to the commercial break sometimes.”
Lemon, who joined the network in 2006 and gained his primetime show in 2014, acknowledged the pressures of his gig. “Sometimes it was exhausting because some of the things that we discuss here are so personal and so consuming, all-consuming,” he said.

Jim Sciutto, CNN’s chief national security correspondent and co-anchor of its morning Newsroom newscast, has been absent from the show for the past two days in what is said to be a personal leave.
A network source said that Sciutto will return in a few weeks.
His leave follows reports that the network conducted an internal investigation earlier this year, after an incident in which he suffered a serious fall overseas. The Daily Beast reported earlier this week that it took place as Sciutto was returning from a Ukraine reporting trip and he has recovered, but the network asked him to address a “personal situation.” CNN has declined to comment.

Don Lemon will lose his primetime CNN show on weeknights to co-anchor the network’s reimagined morning show with Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins, the network announced Thursday.
The new morning show will debut later in the year with a new name, format and set — and signals the end of “Don Lemon Tonight” after an eight-year run. CNN did not announce any plans for how it will fill Lemon’s primetime slot, which has long lagged behind Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” in the ratings.
John Berman and Brianna Keilar, who currently anchor the network’s ratings-challenged “New Day,” will shift to other roles at CNN later in the year.
CNN CEO Chris Licht, who had previously signaled that he planned to shake up the network’s morning programming, praised his newly named team. “There is no stronger combination of talent than Don, Poppy and Kaitlan to deliver on our...

CNN is breaking up with an old habit that has defined cable news for decades.

My name is Joe Bel Bruno, and I’m addicted to the news. CNN has been my habit of choice.
Lockdowns during the pandemic gave news junkies exactly what we needed — constant access to the relentless pace of 2020’s turbulent events — Covid breakouts, the George Floyd shooting, Black Lives Matter protests, and the presidential election. The dramatic theme music played before a “Breaking News” banner splashed across the screen was intoxicating for folks like us.
It came time to cut back when watching that much CNN programming gave me a sixth sense into exact phrases Dana Bash would use to frame a position and what color tie Don Lemon will wear the next night. Not to mention, a worried friend even told me it’s time to cut back. The network basically trained me as a viewer what to expect, the cadence of shows, and how to consume their reports.

CNN has switched into full-battle mode to cover the fast-moving implications of the fighting in Ukraine, the first large-scale invasive war in Europe in more than 70 years.
After months of preparation, the invasion by Russian forces began before dawn, following a TV address from Russian president Vladimir Putin in Moscow. It was followed just minutes later by explosions in several towns across Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv (aka Kiev).
The WarnerMedia-owned CNN had similarly readied its own troops at points inside Ukraine and across the border in Russia, from where the invading forces sprang.

CNN mid-morning anchor Poppy Harlow is going to take a hiatus from working on her program to tend to a legal matter: studying the law at Yale University.
Harlow, who has been with CNN since 2008, will be pursuing Yale Law School’s one-year Master of Studies in Law, a program aimed at people who are not attorneys but want to become more familiar with legal studies and apply knowledge of the law to the work they do. The degree is open to journalists. Linda Greenhouse, the longtime New York Times reporter who covered the Supreme Court for many years, attended the program. Harlow’s last regular day on air for now will be August 20.
“I’m here to stay for good as a journalist, but I wanted to learn more about the law,” Harlow explained in a recent interview. “I really felt that over the last year and a half.

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-wy), who refused to stay silent about Donald Trump’s false claims that the 2020 election was stolen, was ousted from House Republican Leadership on Wednesday, as expected, with a big contrast in how the moment was covered by cable news networks.
In the 9 am Et hour, CNN focused almost entirely on the pending vote, MSNBC devoted slightly less coverage, while Fox News largely stuck to other stories, including the unfolding gas pipeline shutdown and gas shortages in the southeast. Fox did go live for Cheney’s remarks after the closed-door vote, but after a few words, anchors Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino then went on to other stories.
“I will do everything I can to make sure the former president never gets near the Oval Office,” Cheney told reporters afterward.
Cheney was ousted after GOP members expressed unhappiness with her criticisms of Trump and his role in the Jan.

CNN viewers are going to have to get used to waking up with someone new in the morning.
The WarnerMedia cable-news outlet on Monday launches its “New Day” a.m. franchise into a new era, with Brianna Keilar, who has gained notice over the past year with a take-no-prisoners demeanor on CNN’s afternoon schedule, joining the versatile anchor John Berman. A new executive producer will oversee it all: Eric Hall will guide the action from behind the camera.
“We will play to Brianna and Berman’s strengths — being blunt, being candid,” said Hall in an interview. “Calling a spade a spade.”
Since launching in 2013 near the start of the Jeff Zucker era at CNN, “New Day” has played no small role in pushing morning programs toward a tougher, in-your-face stance. The show’s previous anchors, Alisyn Camerota and Chris Cuomo, didn’t shy from interviews with government executives and...

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) tried to do some damage control after making a trip to Mexico with his family while the people in his state are suffering from the aftermath of the historic storm that has left hundreds of thousands without power.
After receiving backlash all day Thursday, Cruz backtracked on his initial excuse that he’d planned all along to accompany his kids to Cancun to “drop them off” and return home. But Cruz later admitted that the public uproar caused him to leave his family in Cancun and return to Texas.

CNN is considering a new day for “New Day.”
Executives have been mulling a move that would put Alisyn Camerota, the “New Day” co-anchor who has steered the program though the bulk of the Trump administration, to afternoons, according to a person familiar with the matter. She could be replaced in her current role by Brianna Keilar, a Washington-based afternoon anchor who has gained attention in recent months for delivering hard-nosed video essays and pushing back at Trump officials in live interviews.
Spokespersons for CNN did not respond to queries seeking comment. NBC News’ Dylan Byers previously reported the potential moves via Twitter.
If the switch is put into place, it would represent the latest shake-up at the CNN A.M. franchise, which vies regularly with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” and Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends.” CNN launched the program in 2013 with a different vision: a counterpart to traditional...

Alamo Drafthouse will be requiring all its moviegoers, coast to coast, to wear masks to its theaters. “When we open, the safety of our teammates and guests cannot be compromised. This is not political,” the chain said in a statement Friday on Twitter.
“We will require that guests wear masks at the theater (except when eating and drinking). Those without masks will be given one,” the statement continued.
The move comes in the wake of AMC boss Adam Aron’s comments yesterday that the chain would not mandate the wearing of masks in areas where the laws aren’t enforcing or insisting upon them because “We did not want to be drawn into a political controversy,” Aron told Variety. “We thought it might be counterproductive if we forced mask wearing on those people who believe strongly that it is not necessary. We think that the vast majority of AMC guests will be wearing masks.

A bevy of working TV-news correspondents from a range of media outlets expressed surprise and outrage after a CNN correspondent was arrested while covering protests in Minneapolis.
Police arrested CNN journalist Omar Jimenez and his crew on air early Friday during a live broadcast in Minneapolis, as they covered riots sparked by George Floyd’s death, sparking intense outrage as well as an apology by Minnesota governor Tim Walz to top executives at the cable-news network . CNN called the arrests a “violation of First Amendment rights.” By 7:40 a.m. eastern, Jimenez had been released and was back on air. Governor Walz told CNN he “deeply apologizes” and said the arrests were “unacceptable.”
But a range of TV-news correspondents were shocked by the act, as Jimenez had done nothing to warrant being removed from the scene. Journalists from CBS News, NBC News and CNN were among those stunned by the maneuver.

Update, 5:21 Pm Pt: More often than not, the “Q” portion of the proceedings has been a way for senators to tee up a way for either side to reiterate their talking points.
Example: A question posed to House impeachment managers by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-vt): Given that the media has documented President Trump’s more than 16,000 lies in office, why should we be expected to believe anything he says has credibility?
Sen. Kamala Harris (D-ca) posed a question that quoted from a line in the infamous Access Hollywood tape, in which Trump was caught on hot mic telling host Billy Bush that “when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.”
Harris’s question, read aloud by Chief Justice John Roberts, compared that remark to President Richard Nixon’s quote that “when the president does it, that means it is not illegal.”
