With the upcoming worldwide release of the modern creature feature comedy Cute Little Buggers I was lucky enough to spend some time with the film’s director Tony Jopia to talk about his influences, bringing the bunnies to life and having fun on set.
How did first get in to filmmaking?
When I was 9 years old I was asked what I wanted to do at school. I remember seeing Airport 1975 (1974) and then not long after another film called the The Poseidon Adventure (1972). They both kind of set a firm seed in my mind that making moves is what I wanted to do. My father used to wake me up at midnight to watch all the creature feature movies that used to appear late at night. I had school the next day yet he would still wake me up at midnight and say, “Come and watch this”. It was the...

Mario Bava turns from spooky gothic tales to a relentlessly violent murder spree in the glossy world of high fashion. The large cast gives us a fistful of prime suspects, while the main draw is Bava's powerful direction and razor-keen images - and in this excellent transfer, the colors can only be described as hallucinatory. Spoilers! The Doctor and Clara meet Maisie Williams in The Girl Who Died. Here's our review of Doctor Who series 9 episode 5.
This review contains spoilers. Our spoiler-free review is here.
9.5 The Girl Who Died
To badly paraphrase the show itself, a good episode of Doctor Who lives or dies on its story. Fortunately, The Girl Who Died has a very good one. And lordy, that ending should have started some serious commenting by the time you read these words.
After all, The Girl Who Died - the first half of the third two-parter in Doctor Who series 9 - actually seemed all but done 35 minutes in. That's when the Mire - this week's baddies - were sent scurrying to their doom with the aid of electric eels and Benny Hill.
You've just got to love this show. Next week, can we have tin openers and the hits of Black Lace?...

The third episode of The Voice UK saw twins audition along with Esmée Denters, who had a recording contract with Justin Timberlake's label. And the lead singer from Black Lace had a go as well!
Digital Spy rounds up the best reactions to this week's auditions from judges Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones, Rita Ora, will.i.am and the all-important fifth judge - the world of Twitter:
1. Rita Ora's hair is still provoking the Twitter-verse:
Don't know that I can take another 2-3 weeks of Rita Ora's ridiculous hair #TheVoice
— Patricia Pecol (@PatiGreen) January 24, 2015
What is going on with @RitaOra's hair on The Voice?
— Channon Turner (@ChannonRTurner) January 24, 2015
Rita Ora has been wearing the same top for 3 weeks now. Must be getting a bit smelly. At least make it look like separate days #TheVoice

We're into our third week of blind auditions now and when the coaches aren't giggling about Rita Ora making a fart sound on her chair or grousing about the Welsh Mafia which is apparently led by Sir Tom Jones, they're bashing their buttons pretty heavily indeed to add members to their teams.
In fact, six acts - Daniel Duke, Emmanuel Nwamadi, Esmée Denters, Joe Woolford, Liss Jones and Stephanie Webber - made it through to the battles, while we sadly had to say goodbye to five hopefuls. But who had the best audition? Here we go with our attempt to rank again...
1. Emmanuel Nwamadi
Song: 'The Sweetest Taboo' - Sade
Team: Team Ricky
Alright, we'll admit it - the minute Emmanuel said he was inspired by the Spice Girls, we were on his side (even if his choice of favourite song was frankly bizarre - 'Mama'? Really?) But we had...

2. Josh McDonough - 19, Epsom
Song: 'Waves' - Mr Probz
What you need to know: Josh was a competitive swimmer but now teaches the sport to kids. Oh, and his granddad...

The frontman of party hit-maker band Black Lace tries his luck in front of the judges of The Voice UK this weekend.
57-year-old Dene Michael from Leeds was the 'Agadoo' band's lead vocalist from 1986.
He and the band continue to perform around the country, and Dene also has a show on local radio in York, playing '80s hits.
Ahead of his audition, the singer explains that he had a Black Lace-themed wedding complete with Hawaiian shirts. His bride walked down the aisle to 'Agadoo' and left to 'Do the Conga', while their first dance was to 'Superman'.
Dene met his wife in Benidorm when he was performing in a Take That tribute band.
This weekend, he performs George Benson's 'Never Give Up on a Good Thing' for Ricky Wilson, Sir Tom Jones, Rita Ora and will.i.am.

Have you ever heard a parent say, “I’m not especially fond of children, but I love my own!”? That’s kind of how I feel about zombies. So when I got the offer from Blanc/Biehn Productions to make my feature directorial debut, guess what…
Yep: zombies!
If you’ve followed my career as a horror critic, you know that while I try to be as fair and balanced as possible, I’m always at a slight disadvantage when reviewing zombie flicks because they’re my least favorite.
So why, when actress-producer-uberwoman Jennifer Blanc-Beihn and highly imaginative executive producer Lony Ruhmann approached me earlier this year about writing and directing a saucy suspenser based on one of Lony’s loglines – “pinup girls vs. zombies” – did I say yes?
Anyone who knows me well enough to know I don’t love zombies should also know that my passion for style,...

Fill your lungs with the memories of smoke machines and polished wood, as we fondly reflect on those nights of youthful innocence – the beloved school disco.
Such nauseating disco excitement is impossible to belly up to as a grown up: unless you’re dabbling in Class A’s, which we’re definitely not advocating.
Before we begin the fun and games here, it’s important to mention the one pressing issue of the school disco, which still haunts to this day – the agony (or elation, depending on who you were) surrounding the build up to the obligatory slow dance. The trauma and urge to vomit hotdog all over the school hall remains in the deepest darkest parts of every child’s subconscious today, no matter how buried. But of course there were ways to escape: the best thing to do at this point was to congregate in the...

It's been a whopping 30 years since Spitting Image first hit our screens on ITV in 1984. The satirical puppet show quickly became one of the most-watched shows of the 1980s and early 1990s.
I wasn't able to fully appreciate the series when it was first on TV. When I watched it in the early '90s as a child, I found it funny mainly because of the silly puppets, even if I didn't quite understand what was going on. But in retrospective viewings, it still holds up as a genuinely hilarious satire of politics, entertainment, sport and general UK culture of the era.
It's quite incredible to think that Spitting Image hasn't been on air since 1996. To put that into perspective, the Spice Girls had only just been unleashed, Tony Blair hadn't been elected yet, and Lorde had only just been born.
As a show that is heavily reliant on topical...

Review by Jonathan Weichsel, MoreHorror.com
I gave Jared Lee Masters’ film Slink a rave review over at Film Radar earlier this year. That film is a tight little thriller that manages to be funny, sexy, and creepy all at the same time. After watching Teacher’s Day, I can safely say that I am a fan of Jared Lee Master’s work. But, I do like Slink a little better.
"Teacher’s Day" is Jared Lee Masters’ take on the slasher. After a teacher is fired for connecting with one of his female students on Facebook, he murders the dean, and then goes to the house of the female student, where there is a sleepover party taking place. The rest of the film is a kind of a take on Slumber Party Massacre, where the young women are killed off one by one by the angry teacher.
Like Slink,...

In a lot of ways, CBS' Tuesday juggernaut "NCIS" is the little show that could. Spun-off from episodes of "Jag," it premiered in the fall of 1993 and chugged along for many seasons, well under the radar of TV critics and industry watchers.
Then, in season seven, it started to top the ratings among scripted shows on U.S. television, then in the 2012-2013 season, it became the number-one most-watched show of the year, averaging over 20M viewers per episode.
Whether your favorite "NCIS" fan likes to wear, play with or display show merchandise, there's a little something for everybody.

Black Lace sing Superman. Now with the accompaniment of Henry Cavill. Well, we liked it...
Well, this made us giggle. Given how serious Zack Snyder's now in cinemas Superman reboot Man Of Steel is, we figured a bit of light relief wouldn't hurt, and thus Machadaynoo has cut parts of the original Man Of Steel to the irreplaceable sound of Black Lace singing Superman. We're simply surprised that nobody has tried this before.
And yes, we expect to be slaughtered in the comments for running it. But we're still cleaning up the coffee from our desk where we spat it out while watching this. We can but hope for a longer version when the DVD comes out...

The 5th annual Sydney Underground Film Festival, which was held back on Sept. 8-11, has released their list of award winners.
Rather than the traditional types of awards given out to fests, Suff likes to give out more flamboyant accolades, such as the Unique Aesthetic Award, Most Provocative Film, the Clever Bastard Award, Bloody Good Filmmaking and Most Charming Protagonist. In addition, the fest hands out multiple Audience Choice Awards for films per each short film program.
The big winner this year was Last Days Here, directed by Don Argott and Demian Fenton. This documentary about the return of rock singer Bobby Liebling took home the Best of the Festival Award. Runner up, though, was Peter Sasowsky’s Heaven and Earth and Joe Davis, another documentary, this one profiling the titular scientist.
Some other notable award winners were: Tyler Baptist’s Mantis in Black Lace for Most Provocative Film, George Nagle...

For their 5th annual event, which is set to run Sept. 8-11, the Sydney Underground Film Festival is looking a little more demented than ever. And that’s saying a lot for this scrappy, still relatively young fest, which typically offers ample twisted cinematic offerings.
The fun kicks off with the Opening Night film, the demented superhero comedy Super, written and directed by former Troma go-to screenwriter James Gunn (Tromeo & Juliet); then ends with the Closing Night wallowing in Sydney’s seedy underbelly, X, by homegrown filmmaker Jon Hewitt.
Crammed between these two excursions into violence and depravity is a lineup filled with perverse visions, scandalous public figures, sickening horror, experimental pop culture remixes and more.
For Bad Lit: The Journal of Underground Film, the highlight of the fest is Usama Alshaibi‘s Profane, a complex psychological, psychosexual, spiritual morality play about a Muslim sex worker who endures a “reverse...
