It is not a rare sight to see video games often collaborating with cinematic and other similar franchises that focus on a similar genre in order to entertain a larger audience. The same was the case when an unexpected collaboration between Mortal Kombat and DC came back in 2008, leaving fans shocked but glad as they enjoyed fighting against some of the most known superheroes.
What would have made such collaboration even better would be an animated movie, which is something that was actually pitched to Warner Bros, or WB as they own the copyright and trademarks to the superheroes. This was unfortunately shot down, depriving fans of what could have been a great experience watching the movie.

The Tekken video game series is if not the best, then one of the greatest fighting games ever made in the genre, and the success of Tekken 7 is the perfect example to showcase the franchise’s influence. The game is also responsible for bringing the addition of many new fighters that the player could fight with, including Shaheen, a Middle Eastern fighter.
The player base could not have been happier with this addition, which is part of the reason why Bandai Namco chose to include Shaheen once again in the latest installment of the series, Tekken 8. He is also the perfect example of what a regionally-inspired character should be like, as talked about by the director of the game himself, Katsuhiro Harada.

Karachi, Sep 3 (Ians) Indian cricketer turned commentator, Dinesh Karthik prefers Pakistan pacers over India’s. He gave insights on the Pakistani trio of Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi and counted them as deadly on Sri Lankan wickets.
Talking to Cricbuzz, Karthik stated, “Shaheen, Haris Rauf, and Naseem can bowl 90+ consistently and all three are very different. Shaheen Shah, obviously the left arm, has an angle to it and brings the ball back in, Naseem Shah swings the ball both ways, Haris is arguably one of the best bowlers right now at the back end of an inning because of his skid and the nasty bouncer that he’s got.”
On being asked whom he would prefer to bat on these wickets, he found Indian pacers comfortable to face. He mentioned the bounce that the Pakistani trio generated off the pitch as a reason not to play them.

New Delhi, Sep 3 (Ians) Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar was left disappointed by the top-order collapse suffered by the side during their Asia Cup clash against Pakistan, stating that veteran batters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli could have used their feet better against Shaheen Shah Afridi.
India were reduced to 66-4 in 15 overs, with Rohit and Kohli being castled by Shaheen, followed by Haris Rauf taking out Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill. India were taken to a competitive total of 266 in 48.5 overs, thanks to sensible knocks from Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (87).
The left-right handed batting duo stepped up in a pressure situation to stitch an important 138-run partnership, before persistent rain had the final say in the match.“Both the batters (Rohit and Virat) could’ve used their feet a bit better. Rohit Sharma had a big gap between his bat and pad.”
“Shreyas Iyer was a bit unlucky.

Pallekele, Sep 2 (Ians) Hardik Pandya made 87 while Ishan Kishan slammed 82 in a vital 138-run partnership for the fifth wicket in a remarkable recovery act to help India overcome a top-order collapse and make 266 in 48.5 overs against Pakistan in their first match of Asia Cup at Pallekele on Saturday.
But as soon as the mid-innings break began, persistent rain, which had caused interruptions twice during India’s innings, came back with greater force, forcing the ground to be fully covered.
With an inspection at 9 pm local time and cut-off time at 10:27 pm, the inevitable happened when handshakes happened all around, implying that the match was called off as rain had the final say.
As a result, Pakistan, the top-ranked Odi side, has qualified for the Super Four stage of the competition, making the India-Nepal match at the same venue on Monday a must-win for Rohit Sharma & Co to enter the next phase of the competition.

Pallekele (Sri Lanka), Sep 2 (Ians) Pakistan’s left-arm fast-bowling spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi emerged as the stand-out bowler by taking 4-35 in skittling India for 266 in the Asia Cup Group A match at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Though he tested openers Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Shaheen was successful after the first rain interruption in India’s innings. Afridi found some movement to beat Rohit twice and finally got his man when the left-arm pacer got one to nip back and hit the top of the right-handed batter’s off-stump through the gate.
In his next over, Shaheen cramped Virat Kohli for room on an attempted punch, to which the right-handed batter could only chop onto his stumps. It also made Afridi the first bowler in international cricket to get Rohit and Kohli bowled in an Odi match in his electrifying opening spell.

Pallekele, Sep 2 (Ians) All-rounder Hardik Pandya made 87 while Ishan Kishan slammed 82 as the duo helped India overcome a top-order collapse and make 266 in 48.5 overs against Pakistan in their first match of Asia Cup here on Saturday.
Under challenging conditions, India were reduced to 66/4, before Kishan and Pandya stepped up in a pressure situation to stitch an important 138-run partnership. While Kishan mixed sensibility with aggression, Pandya was calmness personified and upped the ante after the wicketkeeper-batter fell.
For Pakistan, pacers Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf were amongst the wicket-takers, even though their spinners and fielders weren’t up to the mark. Just when it felt the game would drift away from Pakistan, the pacers triggered another collapse as India went from 239-5 to 266 all out.

Pallekele (Sri Lanka), Sept 1 (Ians) Ahead of India’s opening match in the Asia Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan on Saturday, captain Rohit Sharma insisted that his team has to play at its best in the competition and focus on getting things right on-field as any side is capable of beating anyone on any given day.
“There are six very competitive teams in the Asia Cup and on a given day anyone can beat anyone. Rivalry is there for people to talk about. As a team, what we see is we have an opposition to play tomorrow and see what we want to do. What is going to help us is to keep doing the right things on the field,” he said in the pre-match press conference.
Pakistan recently became the top-ranked Odi team and came into the highly-anticipated clash on the back of thrashing Nepal by 238 runs in the tournament opener in Multan.

Wanted to see Afghanistan spinners’ overs off and accelerate against their fast bowlers: Shadab Khan
Hambantota, Aug 25 (Ians) After Pakistan secured a thrilling victory in the second Odi against Afghanistan, all-rounder Shadab Khan said his plan was to see off the overs of their spinners and go for the runs against the faster bowlers.
In chasing 301, Shadab made 48 off 35 balls and brought Pakistan back in the hunt in the 49th over when he smashed a four and six on two full tosses against fast bowler Abdul Rahman.
With 11 runs needed off the final over, he was run-out by Fazalhaq Farooqui at the non-striker’s end, after moving out of the crease before the ball was bowled. But Naseem Shah (10 not out) and Haris Rauf held their nerves to take Pakistan over the line with a ball to spare.
“When you’re a senior player, you go through these stages again and again. Sometimes you fail, sometimes you succeed. I try to be as calm as possible.

Colombo, July 24 (Ians) Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah shared seven wickets between themselves while Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood smashed half-centuries to put Pakistan in a commanding position over Sri Lanka at the end of Day One in the second Test at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground on Monday.
For Sri Lanka, the decision to bat first backfired massively as they were bowled out for 166 in 48.4 overs, their lowest first-innings total at the venue. In reply, Pakistan reached 145/2 in 28.3 overs, trailing Sri Lanka by merely 21 runs.
For the hosts, only in-form all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva managed to go past 50, making 57 and sharing an 85-run stand with Dinesh Chandimal were the only notable points in a disappointing batting performance.
In Pakistan’s dominating bowling performance, mystery spinner Abrar bagged four wickets for 69 runs in 20.4 overs. He was well supported by Naseem, who picked three wickets for 41 runs in 14 overs.

Galle, July 15 (Ians) Left-arm fast-bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi’s return to the Pakistan Test team after a year out due to a knee injury has pleased his captain Babar Azam the most ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka starting on Sunday at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
Afridi will be playing in Tests for Pakistan after almost a year since he injured his right knee caused by landing awkwardly at the boundary trying to stop the ball in the first of the two Tests, co-incidentally against Sri Lanka at Galle last year.
Though he recovered to play the Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia last year, Shaheen again twisted that previously-injured right knee in the final against England, ruling him out of the home season.
“I am particularly pleased with the return of Shaheen Shah Afridi. Besides his wicket-taking abilities, his presence always motivates and lifts the side.

Melbourne, Nov 13 (Ians) After captaining England to their second Men’s T20 World Cup triumph in his first major tournament as the captain, Jos Buttler credited the victory to the side enjoying the rewards of a long journey with some changes over the years.
England’s white-ball revolution in 2015 culminated in Eoin Morgan winning the 2019 Odi World Cup at home. But that has now converted into absolute domination with Buttler now carrying that legacy successfully with a five-wicket win over Pakistan at the McG on Sunday.
The win also makes England the first team in history of men’s international cricket to hold both 50-over and 20-over World Cups at the same time, and unarguably the best white-ball side in the world.

The win also makes England the first-ever side in men’s international cricket to hold two World Cup trophies at the same time, after Stokes played a pivotal role in the 2019 Odi World Cup final win at home, with ‘Sweet Caroline’ being played at the McG.

Sydney, Nov 8 (Ians) Former Australian opener and the current Pakistan team coach for the Icc T20 World Cup here Matthew Hayden has castigated Aaron Finch’s side for not preparing enough for the “premium event”, whereas every side across the world had pulled out all the stops to ensure the best preparation for the showpiece event.
On the eve of Pakistan’s semifinal clash against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the charismatic former opener said, Finch’s side lacked freshness.
“The Australian team has some thinking to do. There has to be some freshness. And I think one of the great strengths of Australian cricket has been its ability to be able to recognise when to make that gear change into a different playing roster,” opined Hayden.
“Just 12 months (back), we were sitting here talking about the T20 champions and that was Australia. Here we are again on the eve of another semifinal.

Colombo, Sep 21 (Ians) Legendary Sri Lankan batter Mahela Jayawardene has said the emergence of teenage pacer Naseem Shah has been the biggest positive for Pakistan along with a fit-again Shaheen Shah Afridi ahead of the Icc T20 World Cup in Australia next month.
While skipper Babar Azam’s form with the bat is a bit of a concern for the semifinalists of the 2021 edition of the tournament, Jayawardene feels the Pakistani quicks, especially Shah and Afridi, are match winners on any given day.
The 19-year-old Shah scalped seven wickets at an economy of 7.66 in five matches during the Asia Cup in the UAE and his big-hitting too — he smashed two sixes against Afghanistan that played a crucial role in Pakistan’s victory — has come in for praise.
“I’ve been following Naseem for a while now,” Jayawardena said on The Icc Review. “Obviously, they have used him a lot in red-ball cricket,...
