Actor Y Gee Mahendra’s popular stage play ‘Charukesi’ is all set to be made into a movie. Tamil superstar Rajinikanth made this announcement at the 50th show of ‘Charukesi’ at Vani Mahal in Chennai. He also kickstarted the project with the customary ‘clap’.
Rajinikanth said: “In 1975, when I went to see the play ‘Ragasiyam Parama Ragasiyam’, I was not allowed in. But now I am here as the special guest at the 50th show of ‘Charukesi’. This is all an act of time.:
He added: “Popular actors, including Nagesh, Jayalalithaa, Cho, Visu, and so on, are from the Uaa theatre troupe. It is a disciplined troupe with many educated people and experts from various fields.”
Rajinikanth noted that had “Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan been alive, ‘Charukesi’ would have been another ‘Vietnam Veedu’.”
He continued: “As far as this drama is concerned, the story, screenplay, characters and dialogues are all well placed.

Actor Santhanam, who will be seen playing the lead in director Prasanth Raj’s upcoming entertainer ‘Kick’ has, for the first time, sung a song in his film. Santhanam has sung the song ‘Saturday Is Cominguu’, the lyrics of which have been penned by lyricist Vivekha. Music for the film has been composed by Arjun Janya, who is renowned in the Kannada film industry. The full lyrical video for the song will be released on October 10.

Actor Santhanam’s upcoming film which is being directed by well-known Kannada director Prasanthraj has been titled ‘Kick’, its makers announced on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, actor Santhanam, tweeting the First Look poster of the film, said: “Happy Vinayakar Chathurthi everyone. Here is the first look of my next #SANTA15, titled ‘Kick’.”
The film, the shooting of which began in Bangalore a few months back, continued in full swing in Chennai. The final schedule, which happened in Bangkok for 15 days, was wrapped up recently.
Produced by Naveen Raj under his banner Fortune Films, the film will mark the directorial debut of Prasanthraj in Tamil.

Chennai, Sep 24: The late Tamil acting legend Sivaji Ganeshan, whose birth anniversary falls on Oct 1, will be accorded a very special tribute -- a whistling ensemble will render a number of songs from the thespian's films at a concert here. Actors such as M.S. Bhaskar and Y.G. Mahendran are expected to perform too.
"We will perform 28 songs from Sivaji Ganeshan's films during the course of a three-hour programme. The proceeds from the event will go to Little Hearts, an organisation that works for the upliftment of the underprivileged," R. Arun Kumar, head of the South Zone Whistle Association, told Ians.
