We’ve mentioned Freestyle a few times on here on the site, the low-budget film funded by the UK Film Council’s £100,000 Microwave initiatve, and a few of you Stateside expressed an interest in wanting to see the movie if it ever came to your shores. Well, it seems you may just get the chance sooner than later!
According to The Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday: “U.S. boutique indie distributor Phase 4 has bounced for all North American rights to Freestyle, Kolton Lee’s basketball and music fuelled youth drama.”
To recap: Ondene (Lucy Konadu) is beautiful, talented, and destined to study law at Oxford if she gets the required A-Levels. Nothing less will satisfy her domineering mother, Hyacynth (Suzann McLean). When a basketball court is set up near her private school, Ondene is charmed by a charismatic, good-looking freestyle basketball player, Leon (Arinze Kene), and they decide to enter a competition.
