The current season of Chicago P.D. has finished filming. While episodes are still left to debut on NBC, the cast and crew have gone home for the summer.
A Chicago P.D. wrap party took place to celebrate the completion of filming. It also gave people a chance to say goodbye to actress Tracy Spiridakos.
Tracy has played Detective Hailey Upton for years, but her final episodes will air this May. Many fans hope it means a return of Detective Jay Halstead (played by Jesse Lee Soffer) to provide some closure.
Jesse was photographed on the Chicago P.D. set recently, as he returned to direct a new episode. It led to rumors that he might step in front of the camera again.
Jesse also appeared at the Chicago P.D. wrap party, taking photos with cast members, crew workers, and fans.
But Jesse wasn’t the most surprising person...

Faris Alrjoob's The Red Sea Makes Me Wanna Cry is now streaming exclusively on Mubi in many countries.Location scouting photograph for The Red Sea Makes Me Wanna Cry.Writing this feels like a vernissage of sorts; the film is finally arriving, or rather departing, into the world.Let me set the scene. The night before the first day of shooting. A group of us are gathered in our cinematographer Mahmoud Belakhel’s hotel room in the south of Jordan—a space that seemed suspended in time, somewhere in the 1970s. Mahmoud and I are crammed between the edge of the bed and a small desk. Alina Musiol, our production designer, stands by the balcony door, looking at us. Luma Al Hamarneh, my producing partner, is on a call (she had two phones at the time that were always vibrating). A slow knock on the door—Leen Hamarneh and Mahdi Abu Salma,...

This post contains mild spoilers for "The Super Mario Bros. Movie."
"The Super Mario Bros. Movie" presented a rare opportunity for Nintendo, who usually keeps storytelling a low priority, to reacquaint us with the "Super Mario" characters we've grown up with and know very little about. That's why it's unfortunate that the animated film mostly maintains a break-neck speed throughout its 90-min runtime, explaining the bare minimum about the lore and the mechanics of this universe, much like the games themselves. However, if you pay attention and look in the right places, you'll find quite a significant amount of retcons and modifications to these characters' origin stories.
Surprisingly, the animated film opens not in the colorful and playful Mushroom Kingdom, but in an alternate reality version of Brooklyn, New York, where the titular brothers (played by Chris Pratt and Charlie Day) are pursuing a career as aspiring plumbers. Failing to meet his parent's expectations,...

This Super Mario Bros. Movie article contains spoilers.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is filled with easter eggs and references. For that matter, the entire movie is basically one big reference, which is part of its appeal and charm. However, the role of a Super Mario Bros. Movie character named Lumalee has already stolen the hearts of many early viewers and caught quite a few Super Mario fans by surprise.
See, Lumalee first appeared in Super Mario Galaxy. A member of the Luma species, Lumalee is the name given to several star-like creatures that appear throughout the game. In Galaxy, Lumalee essentially serves as a vendor. By feeding Lumalee 30 Star Bits, Mario can ask the Lumalee to transform into either a 1-up Mushroom or a life-replenishing mushroom. Super Mario Galaxy 2‘s Lumalee would also offer additional items for more Star Bits.
Aside from the practicality of their appearances, Lumalee are mostly known for being…...

Illumination’s Super Mario Bros. Movie is making headlines for reasons other than Chris Pratt’s distracting portrayal of arguably the most iconic character in video games. According to a new promotion from McDonald’s, an upcoming Happy Meal toy line includes a surprise character not featured in trailers for the film. At least not yet. The character’s name is Lumalee, a cyan-colored Luma who appears in Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2. Lumalees act as shops in the Mario Bros. universe, selling Life Mushrooms and 1-Up Mushrooms. Players can interact with various Lumas throughout Mario’s universe-spanning adventure.
In the upcoming McDonald’s Happy Meal promo for Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. Movie, hungry customers can collect different toys related to characters from the film, including Mario with a Warp Pipe, a fire-breathing Bowser, a Luigi’s Mansion-style Luigi, floating Princess Peach, a barrel-throwing Donkey Kong, Mario Kart-style Mario,...

There has never been a better time to be a VFX vendor. With so much content coming from streaming, high-quality television, feature films and commercials, the demand for visual effects and VFX
artists continues to grow.
Santa Monica-based visual effects studio Luma Pictures, which celebrates its 20-year anniversary this month, has seen an increase in everything from creature effects to animation to set extensions to full sequences.
To keep up with all the additional work, Luma expanded to Vancouver in January, after establishing an office in Melbourne in 2012 to take advantage of the emerging market there. A staff of more than 200 works for the company across all three locations, providing effects for a client list that includes Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, Disney and Warner Bros., and films such as “Elvis,” “Dr. Strange 2” and “Once
Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
