While reality TV hit some roadblocks this year, truly docu-soap style genre remains as lively as ever, and the year 2024 didn’t disappoint.

One thing about it, two things for sure, reality TV will never die. Between new spinoff series, a focus on senior dating and the end of major talent’s journeys on programs, reality TV kept us binging or heading back to our screens every week.

As 2024 closes out, TheWrap wanted to review the shows that set the tone, were cult-followed and had amazing plots and cast members. Take a look at the list below.

Bergie and Taylor shared heartfelt Instagram tributes to each other, reflecting on their love and growth over the past year.

Carsten "Bergie" Bergersen and Taylor Smith are arguably the best couple to come from Love Island USA season 5 well, except for winners Marco Donatelli and Hannah Wright and the reality TV royalty finally hit an important milestone as a couple on Saturday, Aug. 24: their one-year anniversary.

For those who are unfamiliar with how this perfect pair came to be, after exploring connections with islanders like Anna Kurdys, Kassy Castillo, Carmen Kocourek and more and having a rather rocky journey on the show Bergie found the girl of his dreams during the infamous Casa Amor twist.

For a competition series like The Traitors, it’s important for cinematographers Siggi Rosen-Rawlings and Matt Wright to keep the players as immersed in the game as possible. While the players compete in a series of challenges and conspire with each other to root out the traitors, the pair is hard at work making sure they remain as out of the way as possible… while also keeping track of where the drama is happening.

This season of The Traitors has some of reality TV’s biggest stars coming together to play the psychological competition game of treachery and deceit, along with host Alan Cumming. The series was nominated for four Emmys, including Outstanding Cinematography for “The Funeral”, which both Wright and Rosen-Rawlings say was one of the most theatrical episodes that showed off the skills of every department.

Only 10 people remain in the game, which seems high since only two episodes remain.

The ninth episode of The Traitors 2 arrives on February 22, and the season finale debuts on February 29.

Adding Kate Chastain from Below Deck helped increase the level of drama, and Phadea Parks from The Real Housewives of Atlanta/Married to Medicine just asked Kate to become a Traitor.

If Kate turns down the offer, she is eliminated from the game, making her the latest victim to be Murdered by a Traitor.

The Traitors 2 can have more than one winner

As a reminder, The Traitors is a show that can yield multiple winners. If the Faithfuls make it to the end and have eliminated all Traitors, they split the prize money.

Since none of the cast members were eliminated during last week’s episode of “The Traitors,” that meant we still had two traitors and 10 faithfuls running around the castle at the start of this week’s hour. The episode began with Phaedra Parks and Parvati Shallow considering whom to murder, with their only possible choices being Trishelle Cannatella, Carsten “Bergie” Bergersen, Mercedes “Mj” Javid and Kate Chastain. Fans can compete in a Traitors-inspired game during the Cruise of Deception and win up to $50,000.

Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly, two-time Survivor winner Sandra Diaz-Twine, and Bergie from Loe Island USA are already attached to the endeavor.

Peacock’s Emmy-winning The Traitors has been renewed for season three, with Alan Cumming on board to return as the reality competition series’ incredibly fashionable host. The renewal was a no-brainer as the show, and all its cutthroat backstabbing, tops the list of the streaming service’s most watched unscripted series.

The renewal was announced halfway through season two. New episodes stream on Thursdays at 6pm Pt/9pm Et, with the season finale set for March 7, 2024.

Not once in his two-season run on CBS’ “Big Brother” did legendary player Dan Gheesling see his name written down for eviction. More than a decade later, it is still an impressive feat in the annals of reality competition history.
