The Series: "Veronica Mars"
Where You Can Stream It: Hulu
The Pitch: When "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" went off the air in 2003, fans were left with a longing for a powerful heroine who fought back against injustice. Despite the problematic nature of that series in hindsight, there is no denying what it meant to so many viewers to see a female character like that on television. Though 2004's "Veronica Mars" wasn't based in the supernatural world, it's often been called the spiritual successor to "Buffy" for good reason. Veronica showed us once again that trauma and loss will affect you, but they don't have to define you.
The series ran for three seasons, first on Upn, and then on The CW.

Kristen Bell will return as the titular detective in a Hulu series revival of Veronica Mars, sources tell Variety. Rob Thomas, who created the original Upn/CW show, will serve as writer for the mystery-drama, with Warner Bros. as the studio. The deal is reportedly not finalized as of this writing, and no further casting or plot details have been reported.

“Veronica Mars” could be making its long-awaited TV return.
Sources tell Variety that a revival of the series is currently in the works at Hulu with original series star Kristen Bell poised to return as the titular detective and original series creator Rob Thomas serving as writer. Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, would be the studio. Sources caution, however, that the deal for the series is not yet final. It is also unknown if any other original series stars besides Bell would return or what the plot of the series would be.
Among the matters complicating the deal is that Bell currently stars in the hit NBC comedy “The Good Place.” Should the “Veronica Mars” project move forward, it would need to shoot around her schedule for the latter show, meaning it would likely be a limited series consisting of eight to ten episodes.
Both Hulu and Warner Bros.

The "Veronica Mars" cast is reuniting for Rob Thomas's previously-announced meta-spinoff "Play It Again, Dick." With filming on the eight-episode web series now complete, Buzzfeed has revealed that all your favorite stars from the cult-favorite Upn detective show are set to reprise their "Veronica Mars" roles in the spinoff alongside lead star Ryan Hansen, who will play both a fictionalized version of himself and his "Veronica Mars" character Dick Casablancas. "Play It Again, Dick's" meta conceit will see Hansen attempting to capitalize on his "Veronica Mars" fame (and current Kickstarter-funded revival) by creating a spinoff series entitled "Play It Again, Dick," in which Kristen Bell (playing a "skewed" version of herself) has begrudgingly agreed to reprise her role as Veronica. Also on board for the series are a host of "Veronica Mars" cast members including: Jason Dohring as Logan Echolls and Jason Dohring Percy Daggs III as Wallace Fennel...

Some castmembers from the prematurely canceled TV series were on the edge of their seats too — to see if their characters would make the cut.

There are several things you should know about "Veronica Mars." First, you should know that it's great. While I think the full run of the show, seasons one through three, is uneven at times, particularly towards the end, the high points are so high, and the basic heart and soul of the show is so durable, that I am completely puzzled as to why it was ever anything less than a ratings gargantuan. Second, you should know that the new film leans heavily on the relationships of the characters in the series, and at least in script form, it never felt like it was slowed down or over-explained for newcomers. It's very much a next chapter of "Veronica Mars," and that should have fans very excited. The film's arriving in theaters tomorrow, and unfortunately, Netflix Instant doesn't currently have the show in its library. You can find it at iTunes and Amazon Prime,...

There are a lot of fun, fangirl reasons that Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) is the right match for Veronica Mars (Kristen Bell) -- one of the most epic first kisses in TV history, ridiculous on-screen chemistry, their 'shipper name is LoVe, etc.
But there is so much to it than that. Logan and Veronica belong together, and with just over a week until the "Veronica Mars" movie premiere, here's why LoVe will hopefully be rekindled in the feature film.
On the show, long before LoVe started connecting as characters, even when Logan was being a complete unprintable-word to Veronica, the two actors positively sizzled on screen. That's the foundation for the pairing. Bell has more on-screen chemistry with Dohring than she has with Chris Lowell (Piz), Teddy Dunn (Duncan) and Max Greenfield (Leo) put together.
The relationship, however, was a lot more complicated than smoldering looks and hot make-out sessions.

The 'Veronica Mars' movie plot is outlined; hopes for Krysten Ritter and Francis Capra, among others
"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell (pictured together above) took part in a Twitter chat Thursday (March 21) to answer fan questions about the upcoming "Veronica Mars" movie, which has over $3.75 million raised on Kickstarter.
Here are some highlights:
Question: Will Vinnie and Cliff be back? Please say yes.
Thomas: That's the plan. I hope they both say yes.
Question: Will the #veronicamarsmovie still have the same snarky humor as the show did? And Will Weevil be making an appearance?
Thomas: Yes to the first. And I sure hope Francis/Weevil will be in it. I'm planning on it.
Question: Is there a script for the movie yet? If not, do you know at this stage what direction it'll take?
Thomas: Movie is outlined. First 40 pages are written. I definitely know the direction.
Question: Will veronica be dating anyone? or married?
Thomas: She will open the movie with a boyfriend.

"Veronica Mars" has been absent from TV screens since it ended its three-season run in 2007. Until now.
Soapnet aired a marathon of the late, great series on Sunday (April 15), and begins airing a daily two-hour block of "Veronica" at 5 p.m. Et Monday. And yes, we've worn out our DVD sets of the show and streamed episodes online, but there's something about having the show on television again that just makes us a little bit happier.
Re-watching the pilot, it's amazing how self-assured it is. We find out in Kristen Bell's opening voiceover that her after-school job is "tailing philandering spouses or investigating false injury claims," but the show takes its time in doling out Veronica's rather eventful back story. For the first eight minutes or so, about all we know is that Veronica is an outcast at school whose dad used to be the sheriff and had a...

Last year I was able to check out and review their third collection of horrors (Read: DVD Review: After Dark Horrorfest III: 8 Films To Die For), and was rather excited to check out their new slate this year! Instead of cramming every review into one mammoth review, this year we'll take it one flick at a time, with this little opener stuck at the top of each one.
Picture yourself at a party with all of your closest friends. You're drinking, laughing, and having an all-around great time.

Remember that movie that came out a couple of years ago that was going to jet propel Hayden Christensen into mega-stardom? No? It was that one where he was able to teleport himself anywhere in the world and they shot it in multiple countries. No, well, it seems that a sequel is on the way!
I thought Jumper was pretty terrible. I was bored from the beginning and that boredom didn’t disappear throughout the whole movie. I don’t find Hayden Christensen to be a very charismatic actor and to be honest, although it looked visually pretty good, the whole experience was pretty lame. Jumper hosted a pretty cool cast which also included Jamie Bell, Samuel L. Jackson, Rachel Bilson, Michael Rooker, Diane Lane, AnnaSophia Robb, Max Thieriot, Teddy Dunn, Jesse James and was directed by Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity).
IMDb scores the movie at 5.9 from 68 000 + votes at...

Now in it's fourth year, Horrorfest, the annual cinematic showcase for After Dark Films, has established something of a reputation as a platform for fresh, daring filmmakers to get themselves noticed. More than just a simple market for nasties, the After Dark label stands for quality by way of authenticity, delivering horror films by genre lovers for genre lovers. In addition to this yearly frightfest, After Dark recently announced a new venture to develop their own projects, in partnership with SyFy, NBC, and Lionsgate, titled After Dark Originals. Aiming to do for horror what the Sundance Institute did for the American indie, the eight slate series will begin production next month with a view towards theatrical release later this fall.
Titles featured in this year's Horrorfest include:
The Reeds
Starring: Anna Brewster, O-t Fagbenle, Will Mellor, Danny Caltagirone, Scarlett Johnson, Emma Catherwood, Geoff Bell

Veronica Mars ran for three seasons; two on Upn and the last on the CW. The show revolves around a young teen detective who solves both large and small cases. The series stars Kristen Bell in the title role and also features the talents of Percy Daggs III, Jason Dohring, Francis Capra, Enrico Colantoni, Ryan Hansen, Teddy Dunn, Michael Muhney, Tina Majorino, and Brandon Hillock.
Shortly after the CW cancelled Veronica Mars, series creator Rob Thomas said that he wanted to continue the show's story as a movie. Bell was on board, as was show executive producer Joel Silver. Unfortunately, the project hasn't been made and it doesn't look like that's going to change.
At the recent TCA press tour, Futon Critic's Brian Ford Sullivan asked Thomas about the movie. He said, "I would write it if anyone would finance it. If anyone's interested...

Not unlike the puzzles that a certain teen detective has solved, the possibility of a Veronica Mars movie is somewhat of a mystery. Will it ever be written? Even more importantly, will a studio actually back a film based on a little-watched TV show? It won't take a "Nancy Drew" to solve this one, just a writer that can't seem to get this character out of his head.
Veronica Mars is the longtime pet project of series creator Rob Thomas. It began as a young adult novel, with a male teen detective as the main character. After writing other projects for television (Dawson's Creek, Cupid), Thomas developed it as a series with a female protagonist and Kristen Bell in the starring role. Other series performers include Enrico Colantoni, Percy Daggs III, Jason Dohring, Francis Capra, Ryan Hansen, Teddy Dunn, Michael Muhney, Tina Majorino, Brandon Hillock, Kyle Gallner, Tessa Thompson, Julie Gonzalo,...

Before becoming the voice of Gossip Girl, Kristen Bell starred in the cult series Veronica Mars. After two years on the CW, Veronica Mars moved to Upn where it was paired with America's Next Top Model. The drama followed Veronica Mars as she quickly and cunningly solved crimes just like her police chief father. The short lived series spawned careers of our favorite Veronica Mars stars that can currently be seen on any major network. Kristen Bell recently signed on to NBC hit show Heroes, Enrico Colantoni currently stars CBS’s hit Flashpoint and who can forget Chris Lowell who joined Kate Walsh’s Grey's Anatomy spinoff, Private Practice on ABC. Veronica Mars fans were delighted to hear that their favorite television show might just become a motion picture when creator Rob Thomas gave the movie the green light. Rob Thomas the creator of Veronica Mars fought to keep his...
