[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Arrested Development” Season 5, Part 1, including the ending.]
By the time the first half of “Arrested Development” Season 5 draws to a close, one thing is clear: For better or worse, Mitch Hurwitz’s show is trapped in the past. Viewers can take that literally (since events take place during 2015) or figuratively, given how many of the new season’s jokes are callbacks to classic quips from the original series.
The past can work to the series’ advantage — like when George Michael (Michael Cera), thinking Murphy Brown died, exclaims “Fuck you, 2015!” as if that was a bad year (cough2016cough) — but it’s also an additional problem. Given all that’s happened off camera with “Arrested Development,” it’s impossible not to bring some of those feelings into watching the new season, especially when Hurwitz invites them in with gags about Jeffrey Tambor’s role on “Transparent.” More troubling for longtime admirers of “Ad” is the New York Times...

If you haven't yet watched the new episodes of "Arrested Development," steer clear of this article! But if you have tuned in to Season 4, chances are you might have some questions about some of the jokes. (Don't worry, it happens to the best of us.) We've gathered the most Something-Searched "Arrested Development" questions from the first day of streaming and found some answers for you.
1. Was that really Justin Grant Wade, who played Steve Holt in the first three seasons? When Gob's son, Steve Holt, reappeared in Season 4, he was barely recognizable -- as Michael so gently put it, he looked fifty years old. In real life, Wade still looks his age (he's 29!). He just wore a bald cap with a wig to make it look like his hairline had drastically receded for Season 4.
2. Was that watermark an error? Whenever the new season integrated a clip from Seasons 1-3, which was often,...

Welcome to "Arrested Development" Rewatch. Leading up to the release of Season 4, Zap2it will be taking a look back at the 53 episodes that made "Ad" one of our most beloved TV comedies. Watch the first three seasons of "Arrested Development" on Netflix. Today we're covering the third episode of Season 2, "The Immaculate Election," which premiered March 20, 2005.
"Arrested Development" Season 2 continues down its strange, hilarious path in "The Immaculate Election." From George Michael's cringe-worthy "Star Wars" tapes to the introduction of Mrs. Featherbottom -- she's as gorgeous as she sounds -- this episode really digs into some of the weirdest aspects of the Bluths, and it's a fan-favorite because of that.
Plot: Ann tries to get George Michael to run for student body president, which Michael fully supports -- until he realizes his son isn't as popular as Ann claims he is. Then he and Gob do their best...

[Note: This episode landed "Arrested Development" the enviable honor of being named the "Worst TV Show of the Week" by the always humorless Parents Television Council. Among the PTC's complaints: "one or two plotlines cross the line by involving the institutions of marriage and family in such a negative way that it becomes offensive to adult viewers and potentially damaging to children who see it." "Bringing Up Buster" establishes or deepens a couple of long-running "Arrested Development" themes, in particular Lucille and Buster's unnaturally close relationship. Their dynamic was one of the most reliably hilarious (and creepy) comedic wells the show could turn to throughout its run, and the roots of all of that are here. It's also a great showcase for the Bluth siblings, who have a rare moment of common ground in talking about Lucille.

It’s finally happening!
The wait has been long, and it has been hard, but now the ball is officially, 100% rolling on our return to the Bluth family in Arrested Development.
We thought we were getting a movie (viewers of the original three seasons will of course know why), and then creator Mitch Hurwitz did us one better, and announced that we’d be getting an entirely new fourth season, which would lead into the long-awaited movie.
And now production on the new season has begun, and the first photos from the set have started to emerge, giving us a look at Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, a sheet-covered never-nude David Cross, and what looks to be a cameo from the guys from Comedy Central’s Workaholics.
Joining Bateman, de Rossi, and Cross will be the whole Bluth/Fünke family: Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Alia Shawkat, Tony Hale, Jessica Walter,...

Friends of the actor who played Steve Holt in Arrested Development have launched an online campaign calling for him to appear in the miniseries and film. Justin Grant Wade played Gob Bluth's illegitimate son on the show, but has apparently not been invited back for the upcoming Arrested Development reunion. Two of Wade's friends have now started a 'Save Steve Holt' website in hopes of convincing Arrested Development bosses to revive the character. Wade filmed a video appeal for the 'Save Steve Holt' website to personally encourage support for the online campaign. "With the help of my friends and the support of people like you, I would love to reprise my role on the much-beloved show," Wade told Arrested Development. (more)...

It’s the tale of two Fox television shows that never quite cut it on the major network, with “Terra Nova” barely squeaking out one season, but the cult-adored “Arrested Development” making it to three (with a film project and new series in the pipeline).
First, “Terra Nova” may not have that extra lifeline that fans were hoping for, as it looks like Netflix is going to pass on bringing the prehistoric family drama to its subscription-based services. Netflix started thinking about adding the series to its repertoire of upcoming scripted shows, but perhaps a storied production that included a $10 million-$20 million budget on its twice-delayed two-hour premiere, got the service, which is still reeling from some poor business decisions last year, to rethink the proposition.

"Arrested Development" will be making its return. Whether the relatively minor character Steve Holt will also return is still up in the air. But the famously outspoken and passionate fans of the series are trying to ensure that the the illegitimate son of George Oscar Bluth Jr. and student-body president is brought back into the fold for the revival. Steve Holt! 'Arrested Development' fans launch campaign to bring back TV's favorite illegitimate son
Justin Grant Wade! Just doesn’t have the same ring, does it? But that hasn’t stopped friends and fans of the actor — who played the compulsive name announcer, letterman jacket wearer, and illegitimate son of Gob Bluth on Arrested Development — from mounting an online campaign to bring back Wade and his character when the show returns via Netflix in early 2013 and in the feature film to follow.

Fans of "Arrested Development" are rallying in support of one of the show's most beloved (albeit minor) characters.
While the community was ecstatic over news of the show's return, it appears that Justin Grant Wade, the actor who plays George Oscar Bluth Jr.'s illegitimate son Steve Holt[!] has yet to be invited back.
And so the Save Steve Holt movement was born. Armed with a website, a blog and some Steve Holt t-shirts, fans are hoping to pressure the show's producers into bringing Grant Wade back to the show.
The actor himself appears in a video on the website and confirms that he has yet to be asked back for the upcoming fourth season and feature film based on the series. He's also grown quite a beard since we last saw him.
According to Grant Wade, a portion of the proceeds of t-shirts sold from the site will go to "a very good cause.

Specifically, the actor who played Steve Holt. Justin Grant Wade, the actor who played the fist-pumping jock and secret Bluth, has yet to be contacted by the show's producers about appearing in the upcoming Netflix episodes and big-screen adaptation. (Big-screen sequel? Big-screen continuation? Is there a proper term for such a thing?) So he and two of his friends have started the Save Steve Holt campaign, with the goal of using the show's rabid online fan base to guarantee him spot in the upcoming projects. How will fans help? By tweeting with the hashtag #savesteveholt, writing to entertainment sites, and also purchasing eighteen-dollar t-shirts. (Please do not purchase an eighteen-dollar t-shirt.) Now, I love Steve Holt, and Wade seems like a perfectly pleasant guy. And everyone's got to work their grind, I get that. But this all seems a bit... much. A bit hungry. A bit [...]...

Yes, it turns out actor Justin Grant Wade, who since Arrested's premature demise has appeared on Greek and grown a beard, has yet to be contacted about the series' resurrection. So now there's the Save Steve Holt movement. Please, if you're about to burn $18 on a T-shirt for this cause, consider just rewatching some of the show and hanging tight.

Amid the insistent, if still slightly vague clamor surrounding the upcoming return of Arrested Development, you may have noticed the absence of one oft-repeated name—that of “Steve Holt,” the blissfully ignorant, illegitimate Bluth and living catchphrase. As it turns out, actor Justin Grant Wade hasn’t yet been asked to reprise his role as the well-meaning yet frustratingly dense jock, leading Wade and a group of friends to campaign for his return in much the same way that his character campaigned for school president: by repeating his name as often as possible across a variety of social media, beginning ...

Though the Arrested Development TV show was cancelled after three seasons, the Bluths are going to the big screen. Is this good news for other cult-favorites like Pushing Daisies and Veronica Mars?
Arrested Development centers around the wealthy Bluth family. At the center is widower Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman), who becomes the family business' CEO when his father, George Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor), is jailed. Michael tries to raise his son, George Michael (Michael Cera), while dealing with his eccentric clan's antics. The family includes manipulative mother Lucille (Jessica Walter), socially inept Byron "Buster" (Tony Hale), delusional George Oscar "Gob" (Will Arnett), adopted sister Lindsay (Portia de Rossi), her husband Tobias (David Cross), and their attention-starved daughter, Mae "Maeby" (Alia Shawkat). The series' narrated by Ron Howard and also features actors like Henry Winkler, John F. Beard, Mae Whitman, B.W. Gonzalez, Justin Lee, Liza Minnelli, Judy Greer, and Justin Grant Wade.
