Founded Eastern Championship Wrestling (ECW) in 1992. The promotion joined the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) in 1993 and rebranded itself as NWA Eastern Championship Wrestling. In 1994, he very very publicly withdrew the promotion from the NWA and changed its name to Extreme Championship Wrestling. In 1995, he sold the company to Paul Heyman, but remained in an on-air role as ECW Commissioner.
