- In January 2020, the musician was arrested by the GNR for the crime of domestic violence. The arrest was made by the Center for Investigation and Support for Specific Victims (NIAVE), of the GNR of Lisbon, which received complaints from the victim, Bárbara Barbosa, 30, who has been with the artist for seven years and with whom he has a son. The woman denounced an alleged climate of psychological coercion to which her partner was subjecting her, in particular preventing her from getting a job, or even from relating to friends. Bárbara Barbosa also denounced being the victim of alleged physical aggressions, perpetrated by Armando Gama in front of her youngest son.
- In 1961 he studied accordion and in 1968 he made his first composition on the viola. In 1970 he formed his first ensemble: LoveBirds, studied piano and solfege at the Academia de Música de Luanda.
- In 1983, during the singer's participation in the Song Festival, he started a relationship with presenter Valentina Torres. They lived together for 26 years and had two children, Ana Carolina (born January 31, 1987) and António (born February 9, 1991). They broke up in 2010.

In 2019 we saw him back at Festival da Canção as an interval act, singing his 1983 entry with a new musical arrangement produced by Nuno Gonçalves.
