Motel Hell is available now on Blu-ray. That information alone should be enough to send horror fans shrieking into the streets to party until the wee hours of the morning. And we here all want to get into the festivities as well.
To celebrate the release of Motel Hell on Blu-ray, we've compiled our Top 9 Chilling Chainsaw Kills. Of course this is in reference to the iconic chainsaw scene in the climax of the film. There was something simply unforgettable about Rory Calhoun wielding a ridiculously long chainsaw while wearing a pig head like a Halloween mask. Classic!
But before we get to our top horrific movie chainsaw kills, we have some honorable mentions to share with you. We've got to go way back to find some of the earliest on-screen chainsaw kills. We came up with Dark of the Sun (1968) and The Wizard of Gore (1970) for two of the first buzzsaw butcherings.

There are perhaps no more prolific actresses out there than horror icon Debbie Rochon. She has a list of credits to her name over 230 movies long and it's always growing. But she recently completed filming her directorial debut, Model Hunger, and can't wait to unleash it on the world.
Model Hunger stars Lynn Lowry, Tiffany Shepis, Carmine Capobianco, Brian Fortune, Michael Thurber, Aurelio Voltaire, Suzi Lorraine, Babette Bombshell, Geri Horn and Jayne Caswell. Rochon also enlisted the talents of well-known composer Henry Manfredini (who did extensive work on the Friday the 13th series) and a crew that she described as the best of the best for creating Model Hunger.
With such an extensive acting career, one wonders why Rochon never directed in the past as she's been in the entertainment business for most of her adult life. What finally triggered that desire to get her working on the other side of the camera?...

This just in from the Bill Oberst Jr. camp. Oberst (Take This Lollipop, Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies, Children Of Sorrow), one of our favorite genre actors has officially signed with Amsel, Eisenstadt & Frazier for theatrical and commercial representation.
By signing with the agency, Oberst joins a list of talented actors including a couple of my personal favorites Danny Trejo (Grindhouse, Machete, From Dusk Till Dawn) and Sid Haig (House of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects, Rob Zombie's Halloween).
This is exciting news for horror fans as it will undoubtedly open up many more acting opportunities for Oberst and will hopefully land him some much deserved higher profile gigs.

Many people, myself included, hate hospitals. They're generally scary places where people die any second of the day. Then there's that smell. The emergency room chaos. Oh, and the vengeful spirits that prowl the halls don't help much either!
Below you'll find the latest artwork for The Hospital written by Jim O'Rear and Daniel Emery Taylor. Taylor also co-directs the film with Tommy Golden. Check out the official The Hospital Facebook page for more.
John Dugan (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and April Burril (Chainsaw Sally) star.
Synopsis
Old St. Leopold’s Hospital has many urban legends surrounding it, but the residents of Bridgeport all agree on one thing: tortured souls roam its abandoned halls. The mystery proves too much for a pretty young student who decides to investigate for her senior class project. Unfortunately, she does not find ghosts. She, instead, finds Stanley… serial rapist, murderer, and psychopath. As the...

Hey there, Fiends! The sinister summer is upon us, and another excellent Dungeon show is in the can! Just wanted fans of the show to know a few things. The first involves the name of the show. When I began this venture, I placed my name on the show to get our names out there.
The truth is, though, everything we do belongs to All Of You. So, from this day forward, my name will be stripped from every title. We will be The Dungeon of Deadly Delights. It's your Dungeon. We do this for the fans. Second, I am in talks to make The Dungeon a television show! More on that when it becomes available.
So last week on the radio show, we spoke to my friend and show sponsor F/X legend Robert Kurtzman. Bob spoke about some history on certain films like Night of the Creeps and Phantasm 2.

The Chainsaw Sally Show recently aired the final episode of their eagerly anticipated web series' Season 2. The stars of the production were gracious enough to sit down with Dread Central and talk about the adventures of creating this indie production.
Director and co-star of The Chainsaw Sally Show Season 2, JimmyO Burril, joined us with the three beautiful stars of the show, April Burril, Debbie Rochon and Nicolette LeFaye.
JimmyO (who directs and also stars as uber-villain Angel Eyes) talked about just how it felt to wrap season 2 of the show without knowing if we would ever see Sally again. "Our crew is tiny," JimmyO said. "It's eight people, including us (himself and April). And we took Sally up to the conclusion we wanted. It’s a satisfying ending, but it leaves it open for more. If we go back to Sally, I think I want to take her to a city.

Through a feature film and an on-line series that was picked up for DVD distribution by Troma last year, Chainsaw Sally mastermind JimmyO Burril and his muse, star and mascot April Monique Burril have made waves by making many messes on screen, using social networking, endless outreach and, most importantly, an emphasis on fandom and family. It has worked enough that season two of The Chainsaw Sally Show is revving up (listen…hear the sound of that chain belt grinding metal and smell the gasoline vapors?) starting today, to give devotees more of the seriocomic sex and bloodletting they adore.

She's baaaack. Fans of the psychotic, sexy siren with a saw will be thrilled to know that April Monique Burril and friends are ready to launch The Chainsaw Sally Show Season 2. Sally and all her friends are back, with more blood-letting, boobs and brutality than ever before. Believe the tagline... "Twice the Blood, Half the Clothes".
Series creator/writer/director JimmyO Burril says viewers will see a Sally they recognize, but perhaps a bit evolved. "While still a sitcom, this season is a little darker, a little grittier, with no rules except our own to guide us," JimmyO said. This can certainly be seen immediately in the first episode of Season 2 as Sally gets frisky with a plaything in a scene that evolves into a realistic bloodbath with a 70's-esque feel. "There are some new developments this season and a handful of unexpected twists and turns," added JimmyO. The biggest...

Little Big Boy is, to say the least, a film like no other. It tells the story of acclaimed horror film director Jimmy Duncan, famous for his hot temper aswell as his very exploitative movies. Having witnessed the murder of his mother at the age of seven, Duncan grows up at an orphanage and as an adult works his way up in the movie industry.
Caught up in the downward spiral of his own success surrounded by movie reviewers who refuse to acknowledge his obvious talent, starlet wannabes with absolutely no talent, producers with little patience and people who will do anything and exploit anyone to become famous in an industry where you can count on no-one, we follow Jimmy while working on his fourth feature film “Death Stalker”, which quickly turns into a descent into complete and utter madness as his leading lady leaves the production halfway through the shooting.

Are you ready for another blood bath?
I hope so, because on November 13 and 14, at the Texas Theatre in Dallas, Texas, Doa Blood Bath Entertainment is presenting Blood Bath 2: The Film Festival - and this time, it's personal. I'm joking, of course. But seriously, this year's fest is the real deal. If you are a fan of independent horror, you'll want to be there if at all possible.
This is going to be a big event. The fest is staging the world premiere of two feature films: Kodie, the much-anticipated killer teddy bear flick, and The Super, a movie that will surely scare anyone that enjoys apartment living. There will also be the American premiere of Fell, from director Marcus Koch. Other features showing this weekend include the award winning flicks Walking Distance from Houston's Mel House, Exhibit A-7 from Adam Minarovich, and Dead Hooker in a Trunk, the...

Nicolette Le Faye is a Maryland based actress whose out to make a name for herself in the indie horror film scene while staying true to her Maryland roots and doing things her way, even if isn't the most popular choice. She stole scenes in Chris Lamartina's President's Day, a gory fun little film in which a killer in an Abraham Lincoln costume kills off those running for student body president. Nicolette was so convincing as the school bi*ch, you would think she was one in real life! She is also featured in The Chainsaw Sally Show directed by Jimmyo Burril and co-starring the legendary Debbie Rochon. We hope that Nicolette continues to take risks, push boundaries and never confirms to someone else's vision of what they think she should be. We had the chance to ask her a few questions about her work. Here is what Nicolette Le Faye had to say.

Rachel Grubb Appears In New Web Comic Series “A Life Behind The Mask”
“A Life Behind The Mask” is a comedic look at heroes and villains as they go about their lives in and out of their masks and capes, as they go about the same trials and tribulations of everyday occurrences as we all do except they approach things a little differently than most of us.
The web series will rotate around a different super hero and villain every month as they deal with their everyday lives in and out of their alter egos and try to manage a variety of everyday events in their own unique way and approach.
The series will feature a variety of women throughout the entertainment world that span the spectrum of models, actresses, and scream queens; Comic Book Divas will feature the likeness of the women to bring the characters personalities to life.

April Monique Burril has come up with a very cool, intimidating, unique and downright sexy alter-ego that goes by the name of Chainsaw Sally. April is gearing up for Season 2 of the Chainsaw Sally Show and has several film projects going on, some of which I got to talk to her about. Make no mistake, behind her intimidating alter-persona she is a sweetheart and she's probably going to get me for saying this. I got to hangout with April at Fright Night Film Fest and I came out alive, smiling and sweating a lot (inside joke these for all who attended) Check out my latest "Versus" below to see what all we had to chat about.
Brian S- Hi April, your not in Sally mode are you?
April- Sally mode? Is that a problem? We're not going to have a problem here.... are we? Are We??

In the mood to watch something new but don't have a lot of time to spend in one sitting? Then check out the third and final installment of The Horror Vault Trilogy, which is out on DVD now and contains five separate tales of terror and depravity.
Back in May of 2008 Melissa reviewed the first installment of The Horror Vault (review here), and her advice to the filmmakers was to concentrate on quality over quantity and cut back on the number of films included (Volume 1 had nine films in all). It seems they took her advice as Volumes 2 and 3 both contain five each. Below is the list of what's included in Volume 3:
Synopsis:
Starting off, it's "A Christmas Haunting" directed by Kim Sønderholm and starring Kim Sønderholm, Russ Diapper, Tanja Bønke, Mette Løvendahl and celebrity model Katrine Poulsen. There are also some brief cameos by well known indie stars such as April Monique Burril,...

I’m a fan of low budget indie horror. I break them down into four categories:
1. “Oh my god, I can’t watch any more or I will have a nervous breakdown.”
2. “Where’s the fast forward button – maybe there’s some nudity later??”
3. “I managed to watch without squirming. Yes, there is something here.”
4. “Wow. I see a hint of genius – these guys might have a career ahead of them!”
The Good Sisters (out on DVD February 2 via R Squared Films) falls into category 3. It has most of the low points of indie production (poor cinematography, lack of quality lighting, bad audio, less than stellar acting for the non-leads). But, I was able to sit through it and eek some enjoyment out of the show.
We start out with a nicely done title sequence where Fangoria Radio co-host Debbie Rochon and April Monique Burril (the title characters) are working a Ouija board.

Nvf Magazine founder David Byron recently interviewed a bunch of women (including Pretty/Scary's editor Heidi Martinuzzi) for a book on chicks in horror movies called Queens of Scream: The New Blood.
Also interviewed were Brenna Lee Roth (Killer Biker Chicks, Grind House Glory), Scarlet Salem (Killer Biker Chicks), Bianca Barnett (Albino Farm), Nicole Kruex (aka Nikki Homicide K, Zen: Hunter), Rachel Grubb (13 Hours in a Warehouse), Seregon O’Dassey (Ghost Watcher 2, False Face), Evie Effects, April Monique Burril (Chainsaw Sally), and Monique Dupree (Bachelor Party in the Bungalow of the Damned) plus a special guest appearance by former Hammer Films starlet Ingrid Pitt, whose portrayal of Countess Dracula gave a new meaning to the term Scream Queen long before it became popular for future generations of horror film fans.
The book will be out in July 2009 from BearManor Media

Indie filmmaker JimmyO Burril sent along a new bloody image from The Chainsaw Sally Show, the on-line series spinoff of his 2004 feature, which we last told you about here. He also gave us an update on when fans will be able to view the sanguinary sitcom, starring April Monique Burril in the title role.
“The show will start the first week of September and will run one episode a week for 11 weeks at www.chainsawsallyshow.com,” Burril tells us. “For now, people can follow the Sally Show v-blogs [see the latest one below] on YouTube or at our Forbidden Pictures website. We’re shooting through June, and we have much more killing to do!”...
