A feature length documentary about the 2021 fatal overdose of TV relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman’s teenage son is in production via Steven Cantor’s Stick Figure Entertainment and Rubber Ring Films.

Berman’s 16-year-old son, Sammy Chapman, died after taking a pill he bought through Snapchat that was laced with fentanyl. A synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine, fentanyl is 50 to 100 times more potent, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (Nih). Chapman’s February 2021 death garnered national attention.

“Nationwide, fentanyl overdoses are the leading cause of death for adults between the ages of 18 and 45 and over 300 people die every day in America from Fentanyl poisoning,” says Sam Chapman, Berman’s husband. “The drug that killed our son Sammy was delivered to a house like a pizza.”

Filmmaker Matthew Mishory, founder of Rubber Ring Films, will direct the docu, which is currently in production.

Even Mariah Carey's ex can't help but jam out to her classic hits. On June 30, Nick Cannon shared a TikTok featuring his and Carey's twins, 12-year-old Monroe and Moroccan, teaching him the dance moves to "Touch My Body." He captioned the video, "Only Right!! In the TikTok, Cannon watches his daughter Monroe show him the steps before joining in the fun. At first, he goes the dad route of being silly (and almost loses his sweatpants), but he soon falls into step with his daughter. Meanwhile, Moroccan joins his dad as his twin's backup dancer.

Dr. Laura Berman is mourning the loss of her teenage son. On Monday, Feb. 8, the New York Times best-selling author and sex therapist confirmed on Instagram that her 16-year-old son Samuel Berman Chapman passed away from a drug overdose. Vega, has landed at NBC. Written/co-executive produced by Laurie Silverstein, the show centers on a brilliant, young, successful lawyer who suddenly finds herself forced to go into a practice with her mother, a pioneering female attorney with whom she has a love/hate relationship. Attorney Elizabeth Bradley, who starred on David E. Kelley’s NBC reality series The Law Firm, serves as producer. Bradley started her legal career in the law firm where her mother was a partner, and the two later launched a successful practice together, Bradley & Bradley, Llp. Vega V. Vega is produced by Warner Bros TV and UnbeliEVAable, with Longoria, George W. Perkins, Sunta Izzicupo and Ben Spector executive producing. Beauty & The Beast qualifies as a police drama, and the network tried out medical drama Emily Owens, MD last fall. Now it is teaming with Eva Longoria for a legal drama project that will feature the CW’s signature soapy elements. Nigel Lythgoe Productions, a joint venture with American Idol's 19 Entertainment, already has reality projects in development for Alice Cooper, Pussycat Dolls founder Robin Antin, sex and relationship expert Dr. Laura Berman and Kim Kardashian. Los Angeles, California (X17online) - American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe has begun developing unscripted television projects under his new production company, Nigel Lythgoe Productions, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Oprah Winfrey’s cable network Own is announcing six new shows to advertisers at its first upfront presentation. The network has struggled to gain ratings traction since it launched in January, though the channel is renewing four of its programs. The new titles, along with official descriptions:

The network is yet to share details about it, though it is expected to be a talk show. OWN has been slow out of the gate, barely outperforming the channel it replaced, Discovery Health. I caught up with Lady O and her stars on the TCA red carpet -- including Bff Gayle King, Lisa Ling, Cat Cora, Dr. Laura Berman, Suze Orman, 'Your Own Show' hosts Carson Kressley and Nancy O'Dell, and the show's producer Mark Burnett -- to hear all about their big launch and what's up next.

For someone whose sort of job it is to be aware of all the new TV that's on each weeknight, it's really a little embarrassing how frequently I just put on some reruns while doing other things around my apartment. This means that I barely pay attention to TV anymore unless it's something I really want to watch, it's sort of like a flickering box of lights that makes my apartment feel not so boring for a little while at a time. I hope everyone out there survived their New Years celebrations more or less intact. I'm a bit in the "less" column myself, but I had fun and that's what's really important. I think. Anyway we're diving back into a whole new year of television that is, at least so far, not significantly different than the previous year of television. Kind of anti-climactic really. Now, my newly acquired cast makes it really tricky to type, so with pre-emptive apologies for mistakes, here's you Monday night TV:

8:00pm: "Antiques Roadshow" on PBS. 15th season premiere. They're in Miami Beach, which doesn't make much sense since most of the antiques we have here are people, not furniture. Maybe they'll go around evaluating people's meemaws.

Hollywoodnews.com: Oprah Winfrey welcomed 2011 by launching her eagerly anticipated Own Network and, so far, the critics are being kind.

Critic Alessandra Stanley wrote in the NY Times that the new network “was most striking for what it lacked: nowhere in that opening gush of feel-good highlight reels, self-improvement plans, spiritual quests, aha! moments, celebrity master classes, and people finding their truths and living their own best lives was there a snicker of malice or a hint of raillery.”

Own, Stanley continued, is “a place where cynicism takes a holiday and mockery hasn’t yet been invented.”

That sounds very much in tune with the tone of Winfrey’s long-running, beloved daytime talk show, which frequently promoted but only occasionally probed.

After seemingly endless announcements and preparation, Oprah Winfrey kicks of 2011 with the launch of The Oprah Winfrey Network.

And as the king-making media empress tries to clarify in her introductory hour, "Oprah's Guide to Own," she is not here to waste your time. She wants her new block of original programming to serve a purpose in your life.

Being Oprah, she's going to get a lot of this right. But so far, there are a few docu-series that seem like they could be a tad misguided -- in the inadvertently hilarious way.

Shows like "In the Bedroom with Dr. Laura Berman," a cartoonishly awkward sex rehab program for middle-aged couples. We haven't seen an episode, per se, but if Oprah's extended preview is telling, it could become required viewing.

"He hasn't touched my genitals in a year," says one woman.

Oprah’s upcoming Own network has a new trailer, and while it’s no “Get with the program, get with Oprah” song, it’s still very Oprah-y. Hugs! Dancing! Tearing up! Kissing people the way you want to be kissed! Maya Angelou! You know, the basics. If I didn’t know this was a trailer for an entire network, I’d guess that it was a trailer for a season of Oprah, which is probably the point. You don’t get to be one of the most powerful women on earth by going off-brand, you know?

Oprah Winfrey is banking on resolutions for 2011 including a commitment to her new channel. Own launches at 12 p.m. Et. Jan. 1, and the network's newly unveiled schedule includes two new reality ventures from tumultuous celebrity families.

"The Judds" will follow country music mother/daughter duo Naomi and Wynonna Judd preparing for their first tour in a decade while exploring their "complex relationship." There's no word on any possible involvement from Ashley, the more subdued Judd.

Also acquired by Own: "Ryan and Tatum: The O'Neals," the docu-drama first reported on in August. The series focuses on the long-estranged father and daughter's attempt to rebuild their relationship by moving in together and attending therapy.

"We're excited these two iconic families are allowing us to chronicle their personal stories as they embark on new chapters," says Own chief creative officer Lisa Erspamer of the two series which will debut later in 2011. "We think...

Time flies. It seems like it was just yesterday when Oprah announced that she would be ending the run of her long-running hit daytime talk show, and heading to the cable TV netherworlds to build her own network.

Roughly 2 months from now, Own, the Oprah Winfrey Network, will launch at noon on January 1, 2011, with an hour-long introduction by the Queen Bee herself.

NY Post: Oprah Winfrey's new cable network will be lean heavily on "Oprah" regulars, if today's programming announcement is any indication.

Own, which kicks off in early 2010--replacing Discovery Health Channel--has finally released some info on its upcoming programming slate.

The shows are grouped under three banners: "Best Life All Stars," "Best Life Experiences" and "Best Life Inspiration."

Here's some info on the shows announced today:

"Best Life All Stars":

--"The Peter Walsh Project," which will feature "de-clutter expert" Peter Walsh, a frequent "Oprah" guest, who'll be joined by a team of experts in helping people tackle their clutter issues.

--"Dr. Laura Berman," features the sex therapist/relationship expert in a one-hour talk show based in Chicago. She's also been seen on "Oprah." "Best Life Experiences":

--"Excellent Adventure" will track a celebrity and their best friend "as they embark on the adventure they have always dreamt of taking together.

Oprah Winfrey will soon be out of daytime but she won't stop hosting her own show. New York -- Discovery Communications on Thursday offered media buyers their first look at what's being touted as the biggest idea since MTV, taking the wraps off the inaugural programming slate for the startup OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network, which features several regulars from "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

Speaking at Discovery's upfront presentation, Own CEO Christina Norman said the channel's programming is being built around three central empowering themes: Best Life All Stars, Best Life Experiences and Best Life Inspiration.

Among the All Stars projects: a Harpo-produced strip helmed by frequent Oprah guest Peter Walsh, who makes his living as a professional organizer/clutter-buster; a one-hour sex and relationships talk show led by Sirius Xm radio host Dr. Laura Berman; and the newsmagazine "Lisa Ling Investigates."
