Hosted the first late night show on CBS TV in Los Angeles in 1948. Her
announcer at the time was future talk show host, Johnny Carson.
Turned down the role of "Miss Kitty" on the Gunsmoke TV series.
Polly's photographer in modeling was Tom Kelly, 'Tom Kelly Studios [us]' who
photographed Marilyn Monroe's famous "Nude" photo in the late 1940's.
Initially, Kelly wanted Polly for that photo, but she refused due to
the nudity.
In the mid 1940s Polly made a record with then newcomer, guitarist 'Les
Paul', in his garage. That same year she was on the cover of "Down
Beat" music magazine.
Polly and her sister Maryellen Sennett were the leading act as "The Darling
Sisters" in the late 1940's at the "Corriganville" Ranch, owned and
managed by western actor "Crash" Ray Corrigan. Where the ranch was is now
Simi Valley, California.
Her father William E. Goebel was a top executive with Howard Hughes.
Miss California in the Miss America Pageant in 1945.
She was part of the 1940s Country/Western singing team the "Darling
Sisters" with her sister, Maryellen Sennett.
Made history as one of the acts (The Darling Sisters) who opened the
Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, operated by gangster Bugsy Segal. This was
the first of the modern hotel/casinos.
