Pregnant star Marla Sokoloff was overwhelmed with "complete and utter fear" after a blood test showed the possibility of a birth defect in her baby - and she suffered 10 "agonising days" until she was given the all-clear.
The actress, who is married to musician Alec Puro, admits the first four months of her pregnancy went smoothly, but she was "completely crushed" when the results of her second trimester blood tests came back abnormal.
In a blog for People.com, she writes, "My husband and I sat in the genetic counsellor's office discussing our 'options'; if the test was in fact positive for a serious birth defect. They were throwing out everything from spina bifida to Down syndrome.
"I was completely crushed. I was already so attached to my little girl. She has a name. I talk to her, I sing her songs... she has to be Ok."
Sokoloff underwent more tests to check for an infection or defect and admits she suffered 10 "agonising days" waiting for a diagnosis.
She recalls, "I started to feel like I had been punched in the gut. My positive attitude that I tried so desperately to hold on to went flying out the window and was replaced with complete and utter fear.
"The next few days were spent on the couch covered in tears. I literally couldn’t function...
"After 10 agonising days, our amnio results came back showing a perfectly healthy little girl. The abnormal blood work was, in fact, a false positive. I... then returned to my oh-so-familiar state of hysterical crying. Only this time, they were happy tears."
Sokoloff and Puro are expecting their first child this winter.

Everywhere you look ... there's a heart. A hand to hold on to. And "Full House" alum Marla Sokoloff is about to have a new hand to hold on to. People reports the 30-year-old actress and her husband composer Alec Puro are expecting their first child. The couple wed in Nov. 2009 and do not yet know the sex of their baby.
And just who is Marla Sokoloff? Well, some of you may know her as Lucy Hatcher from "The Practice," others may recognize her as Dina Tribbiani from "Friends" and still others might recall she was Jody Lynch on "Party of Five."
But for our money, she'll always be Gia Mahan from "Full House," a friend of Stephanie Tanner's (Jodie Sweetin). You can watch her here play in Stephanie and Kimmy Gibbler's girl band - she's the one on guitar next to Steph. "I Saw the Sign" indeed.
Congratulations to Marla...

In the spirit of Greil Marcus coining the term "punk," can we just start calling soundtracks to indie movies featuring Leonard Cohen, chirping, fey pop and under the radar rock "Pitchfork soundtracks"?
In recent years -- and "Garden State" is the most obvious, if not earliest, precedent -- there's been a glut of soundtracks featuring similar, if not identical, artists to accompany some story of teenage love, the misunderstood outsider or the schlubby 40-something about to learn a life lesson.
The soundtrack to Gavin Wiesen's "The Art of Getting By," while fine and pleasant and all those other adjectives of resignation denoting shrugged-shoulder acceptance, is the latest Pitchfork soundtrack, but inevitably not the last.
And just like all writers have subconscious crutches -- certain tools and devices they lean onto bail them out of a sentence -- so too, it seems, do indie film music supervisors. Want to promote...

Teen slacker, George, thinks he's got it all figured out until he meets "doe-eyed" Sally in "The Art Of Getting By" -- and cue eclectic indie soundtrack. Curiously, this one features a roster of bands who seem like they are years off the apparent target demographic's playlists. With Mates of State, The Shins, Earlimart, Pavement and French Kicks, it feels more like the hit soundtrack of 10 years ago.
Leonard Cohen's "Winter Lady" adds some serious weight and is happily not mindlessly overused like another Cohen song I could name. There are also three tracks from the score by composer Alec Puro ("The Good Night"). The soundtrack is out on June 14th on Rhino and Amazon. The movie opens on June 17th. [film music reporter]
The full track list is below. Here are a couple song's from the soundtrack -- Earlimart's "We Drink On The Job" and "Pavement's classic 90's sadthem, "Here."
