Spoiler Alert: The following reveals major plot points from the Station 19 Season 7 premiere.
Station 19 returned tonight, airing the Season 7 premiere titled “This Woman’s Work,” and as everyone knows, this will be the final season of the firefighter drama created by Stacy McKee.
As sad as that is, let’s look at the positives, shall we? There are nine episodes left after the premiere, and there’s a whole journey ahead of us — and it’s going to be a bumpy ride.
Speaking of bumpy, Jack (Grey Damon) is in a really bad way as the episode opens with him in surgery. Andie (Jaine Lee Ortiz) — on her first official day as Captain — of course is there with him when Grey Sloane’s Amelia Shepard (Caterina Scorsone) steps out to share an update, and the news is good overall. Amelia revealed that they had to remove a piece of...

The sirens you hear on social media are the sounds of diehard Station 19 fans sounding the alarm over the cancellation of the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff.
The loud signal boosting ahead of what will be the seventh and final season of the firefighter drama comes after ABC on Dec. 8 announced that Station 19 will conclude with 10 episodes this year — the show’s shortest order since it debuted — like Grey’s — as a midseason replacement show when it launched in spring 2018.
With Station 19 and Grey’s serving as the only remaining shows on ABC produced by hitmaker Shonda Rhimes — who is now based exclusively at Netflix — why would the network ax one of its Thursday staples? The answer can be found in the math.
Station 19, which started off as a backdoor pilot in season 14 of Grey’s, finished the 2022-23 broadcast season as the No. 13 drama among the advertiser-coveted...

Exclusive: The upcoming seventh season will be the last for ABC’s Station 19. The decision, early in production on the season, would allow producers to craft a proper ending for the first responder drama, a spinoff from the network’s flagship Grey’s Anatomy.
Before it signs off, Station 19 will hit the 100th episode mark in Season 7, which was impacted by the double Hollywood strikes. The series has aired 95 episodes to date; its seventh season will consist of 10 episodes.
Boosted by frequent Grey’s Anatomy crossovers, over the last few seasons, Station 19 established itself as ABC’s No.2 drama series behind Grey’s. Over its run, the series also has been lauded for tackling important — and sometimes difficult — topics and recently received a Sentinel Award from Hollywood, Health & Society for its depiction of systemic racism in Season 6.

ABC has renewed its drama “Station 19” for a seventh season, during which, the show is expected to reach its 100th episode milestone. The network shared the announcement on Thursday.
“Station 19” follows a group of heroic Seattle firefighters as they put their lives and hearts on the line. The series aims to take viewers inside the tough, tight-knit and sometimes heartbreaking world of the city’s first responders.
In addition to the renewal news, Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige have also been appointed as showrunners and executive producers for the upcoming season. As Variety previously reported, former showrunner Krista Vernoff announced her departure from both “Grey’s Anatomy” (which is currently in its 19th Season) and “Station 19” in January.
In 2022, Clack became head writer and executive producer on ABC’s “Station 19” while also working as an executive producer on the ABC series “Grey’s Anatomy” — a role she’s had since the show began.

Station 19 is set to hit its 100th episode in the 2023-24 season after ABC renewed the first-responders drama series for a seventh season.
The network also has confirmed that Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige will serve as showrunners and exec producers after Deadline revealed that Krista Vernoff was stepping down from Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, with the pair likely to step up.
Over the past few years, the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff has been getting renewals alongside its mothership series. However, Grey’s was renewed for its 20th season last month, and Deadline understood that the holdup on Station 19 was the size of the order, which ABC has not revealed. Previous seasons have generally been 16-18 episodes.
Helping this renewal was the fact that the main cast have contracts that cover next season and beyond.

ABC is returning to Station 19.
The Disney-owned broadcast network has handed out a seventh-season renewal for Station 19, the firefighter-focused spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy. As part of the pickup, ABC has installed Zoanne Clack and Peter Paige as showrunners. The duo take over from Krista Vernoff, who previously announced plans to step down from showrunning both Grey’s and Station 19.
With Grey’s having already been renewed for its 20th season, a pickup for Station 19 was all but a formality and hinged only on closing new deals for Clack and Paige. The drama joins such other previously renewed series on ABC’s 2023-24 broadcast schedule as Abbott Elementary, The Good Doctor, Grey’s, The Rookie and Will Trent.

The showrunner will exit at the end of the medical drama’s current 19th season and conclusion of the firefighter spinoff’s seventh season. There is no word on a new showrunner for both Shonda Rhimes-produced shows as ABC has yet to renew either. Exclusive Updated: In April 2021, ABC’s first-responders drama Station 19 aired an episode hailed as one of the most powerful reflections of George Floyd’s murder on television. It was written by executive producer/showrunner Krista Vernoff, with contributions from the show’s writing and support staff as well as the cast.
More than a year later, an incident involving the depiction of racism on the page has left the writing team of the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff reeling. According to sources, it had to do with a writer’s recent draft of an outline for an upcoming Season 6 episode that included numerous uses of a racial slur by a racist character. I hear the script was assigned to a white writer, and the word in question was b—-r, a derogatory reference to people from Latino descent.

Grey's Anatomy and Station 19 crossed over once again this week, and by the end of the two-hour extravaganza, one character was dead.
Dean Miller (played by Okieriete Onaodowan) died after being caught up in an explosion while evacuating citizens from a building.
“It’s been a pleasure being Dean. I have Shonda Rhimes, Stacy McKee, Krista Vernoff, Paris Barclay, and ABC to thank for allowing me to bring him to life,” Onaodowan shared in a statement to Deadline.
“I am grateful I got to work with the most loving, kind, and dedicated crew in network TV. And most importantly, thanks to the fans for showing Dean so much love."
"I hope he has inspired you to change your world for the better. Be the change!”
The same outlet also revealed the actor was leaving the show of his own volition after approaching producers with a request to depart.

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched the “Station 19”/“Grey’s Anatomy” crossover event on Nov. 11.
The promos had flatly stated that not everyone would survive the “Station 19”/“Grey’s Anatomy” crossover episodes Thursday night — and that was indeed true. Okieriete Onaodowan, who has played Seattle firefighter Dean Miller since “Station 19” premiered in spring 2018, has left the ABC drama.
According to a source, Onaodowan asked to leave “Station 19,” which is now in its fifth season, feeling it was time to move on. In a statement about his departure, he said: “It’s been a pleasure being Dean. I have Shonda Rhimes, Stacy McKee, Krista Vernoff, Paris Barclay and ABC to thank for allowing me to bring him to life. Spinning off from "Grey's Anatomy", "Station 19" is the action-drama TV series created by Stacy McKee, set in Seattle, focusing on the lives of the men and women (who work for a living) at 'Seattle Fire Station 19', starring Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre, Boris Kodjoe, Stefania Spampinato and Miguel Sandoval, premiering Season Five September 30, 2021 on ABC and streaming on Hulu:
"...Stefania Spampinato, who plays 'Carina DeLuca', will be a major part of the show in season 5. Plus, given the fact that 'Vic' is really into 'Theo Ruiz' (Carlos Miranda), there's a good chance we'll be seeing more of the lieutenant. At the moment, we also expect the following cast members to return: Jaina Lee Ortiz as 'Andrea Herrera', Jason Winston George as 'Dr. Benjamin Warren', Okieriete Onaodowan as 'Dean Miller', Grey Damon as 'Jack Gibson',...

“Grey’s Anatomy” spinoff “Station 19” found itself in an unbearably awkward spot Thursday night when its CGI job with a furry friend of the forest proved less-than realistic to Twitterverse.
“Oooohhhhhh, nooooo!!!! That CGI Bear Is Bad, It’S So Bad!!!! A guy in a bear suit would look better!” one Twitter user wrote.
The premise of the episode was a camping trip that was meant to be a team-building exercise soon devolved into a disaster when a pair of fellow campers were savagely attacked by a bear.
But to many fans on social media, instead of the encounter being scary, it became a joke, with the obviously-cgi’d bears drawing a barrage of Twitter users firing off hilarious criticisms.

Station 19‘s new behind-the-scenes captain intends to keep the Grim Reaper very busy during her tenure.

Shondaland's Grey's Anatomy has been one of ABC's best rated scripted drama since before the earth cooled. Last year, the hit factory introduced the Station 19 TV show, a new spin-off, set at a Seattle firehouse, where all the firefighters are EMTs. While the first season performed well enough for a second season renewal, it didn't set the Nielsen ratings world on fire. Can this show build up an audience comparable to the parent series? Will Station 19 be cancelled or renewed for season three? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
