Can Richter Belmont (Edward Bluemel) and his friends possibly prevail against her powerful vampire cabal? From creators Clive Bradley and Kevin Kolde and directors Sam and Adam Deats, the eight-episode animated series has reached its cliff-hanger apex, and we’re here to break it down. The UK’s Embankment Films has launched global pre-sales on The King Of Covent Garden starring Anthony Hopkins as composer George Frideric Handel.
The film is billed as a celebration of the genius of the Baroque composer, who was born in what is modern-day Germany before moving to London in 1712. While living in the UK he composed his masterpiece Messiah in 1741, taking inspiration from a singer named Susannah, who is yet to be cast.

A gripping plot, superb acting, thought-out dialog, an amazing ability to hold the audience's attention, sex, violence, and struggle for power – Game of Thrones was famous for all of this, but was it the first of its kind?
Perhaps in every genre there is the series that was unfairly closed at the most interesting moment. For fans of science fiction, Firefly became such a wound in the heart, and for fans of historical dramas, there is Rome, the return of which most connoisseurs of the genre dream of.
As it happens, Rome has only two seasons. But even that is enough to appreciate it.
Rome Was Game of Thrones’ Predecessor
Even before Game of Thrones, HBO and the BBC tried the "sex, blood and political intrigue" formula with Rome, which was released in 2005. And the historical period was more appropriate than ever: the Roman Empire just after the Gallic War...

While J.R.R. Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings novels are considered the epic fantasy work of the 20th century, Frank Herbert’s Dune is considered the epitome of sci-fi novels around the same period. Many might have noticed some similarities in the themes of both these groundbreaking works of fiction but most fans don’t know that Tolkien absolutely hated Herbert’s influential novels.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings novels were peak works in the 20th-century fantasy genre
Tolkien openly talked about this hatred in a letter to a friend. However, he didn’t mention the reason behind his dislike for Herbert’s work. Many speculate that Tolkien’s opinion about Dune stemmed from how the novel handled its religious theme as opposed to Lord of the Rings.

Not only is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two bringing in raking in the big bucks at the box office, but it is also receiving an abundance of laudation from critics and crowds alike. With the latest release’s conclusion leaving the horizon open for an upcoming installment, fans have now taken to eyeing the prospects of seeing Frank Herbert’s follow-up book, Dune Messiah, adapted for the screen.
Dune: Part Two (2024)
Of course, filmmaker Villeneuve himself has entertained the possibility, and we know from reports that the script for the third film has nearly been finished, with no inclination to rush the material. While the future appears enticing and intends to be the backdrop to the aftermath of Paul’s actions in Part Two, a particular element of the premise may disappoint some viewers on a scale reminiscent of Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi.

With a script on the go, great early box office numbers in the can and key financiers up for it, a third Dune film – Dune: Messiah – is looking like a certainty.
Dune: Part Two is in cinemas right now and happily, everything looks to be going well for Denis Villeneuve’s big-budget slice of sci-fi cinema. The film is getting great reviews (here’s ours) and making plenty of cash at the box office too.
Our own Ryan Lambie called it ‘2024’s first truly great multiplex film’ and critics tend to be in agreement that the ever-reliant Villeneuve has done the business again.
Those good vibes seem to have extended as far as Legendary Entertainment, the film’s production company and co-financier. The company’s CEO, Josh Grode was asked this week about a third Dune film and he expressed confidence that it would happen, stating:

Dune 2 is the subject of controversy following the release of Denis Villeneuve's science fiction epic.
Picking up the story mere moments after the events of 2021's Dune, Dune: Part Two follows Timothée Chalamet's Paul Atreides as a foreigner who rises to Messiah status on his new planetary home of Arrakis.
The movie has been called a gripping take on "religious fanaticism at points," going deep into the consequences of blind faith and the origins of religious dogma. But that story direction rubbed some fans the wrong way in this sweeping tale.

Dune: Part Two was recently released on 1st March, and audiences and critics alike have been raving about the second installment of the intended trilogy. Denis Villeneuve has created the world of Dune from Frank Herbert’s novel extraordinarily, and Timothée Chalamet and team has made sure to bring all the characters to life perfectly with the two movies so far. With such an expanded source material, it is no surprise that Villeneuve has not been able to touch upon every single plot point from the books.

When Denis Villeneuve adapted Frank Herbert’s novel into Dune and Dune: Part Two, he made significant changes to the source material. Fans of the book may be a little upset with the director, but they appear to be in the minority as the film received rave reviews from critics and audiences. Villeneuve’s approach is very similar to Peter Jackson’s when the latter adapted J.R.R. Tolkien’s dense books of The Lord of the Rings into a condensed three-part film.

Anticipation for a third Dune film has skyrocketed with the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, and the filmmaker has heightened this excitement by teasing that the upcoming sequel will unravel the secrets surrounding the mysterious sandworms. Among the various complex characters in Frank Herbert’s Dune novels, Lady Jessica, played by Rebecca Ferguson, is pivotal to the legacy of the Fremen and her son Paul Atreides. A powerful member of the Bene Gesserit also known as the Sisterhood, Lady Jessica was trained in the mystic ways of the all-woman clan by the Reverent Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam.

This post contains spoilers for "Dune: Part Two."
"Dune: Part Two" makes a lot of changes to the source material. It skips over the book's two-year time jump, it lets Chani have a moral backbone, and it removes an entire storyline about Paul having an infant son who tragically dies in a Harkonnen attack. But when it comes to one major, game-changing reveal from the book, the movie stays faithful: Jessica is the Baron Vladimir Harkonnen's secret daughter, and Paul is his secret grandson.
The exact details of how this all came to be are fuzzy; the "Prelude of Dune" novels (not written by Frank Herbert) technically provide an explanation, but many fans don't consider it canon. Based off what Herbert himself actually wrote, Jessica's heritage was a discreet decision made by the Bene Gesserit, a powerful group of witches who have been secretly running a 10,000-year breeding program in...

This article contains massive spoilers for Dune: Part Two (and possibly Dune: Part Three).
If you have seen Dune: Part Two, then you know that Anya Taylor-Joy pops up for a very brief, and very important, vision of Paul Atreides’ yet-to-be born sister, Alia. It is a nice bit of seed-planting for an eventual Dune 3, which will be based on Frank Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah. In that book, a teenage Alia plays a critical role where she is almost as deified by the populous of Arrakis as Paul himself.
When we spoke to director Denis Villeneuve, he was thrilled with Taylor-Joy’s casting and how perfectly she will match up with her onscreen brother Timothée Chalamet once cameras roll on the next Dune film, be it titled Dune Messiah, Dune: Part Three, or something else altogether.
“The first thing is I absolutely adore her as an actress,” Villeneuve tells us.

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool has been a franchise that has always been very close to the hearts of Marvel fans. Ever since the first film’s release in 2016, the character established himself as a force to be reckoned with. Providing a dynamic screen presence and forcing space for himself in a multiverse of iconic personalities, he has almost become the heart of the franchise.

In one of the most arresting sequences in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, the Fremen fighter Chani (Zendaya) teaches the Atreides Duke Paul (Timothée Chalamet) the correct way to sandwalk.
They drag their feet delicately across the arid Arrakis terrain, avoiding the rhythmic pattern that attracts desert sandworms. There’s an understated sweetness to their interactions, a sign of the pair’s growing intimacy. At one point Paul insists on the methods he learned from an anthropological video, and Chani responds with a skeptical and exasperated look. Fremen rituals can’t be fully understood from studying outside texts; the traditions are passed down through generations and exchanged by members of the historically nomadic group.
Fremen society and Paul’s relationship with Chani are among the threads that get more robust consideration in Villeneuve’s highly anticipated sequel. Dune: Part Two maintains the grandiose visual style introduced in Dune while...

As Denis Villeneuve prepares to release the hotly anticipated conclusion to his Dune saga, Dune: Part Two, fans still lament one tragic loss that deprived the sci-fi sequel of a potentially legendary performance: Philip Seymour Hoffman as the devious face-dancer Scytale.
Hoffman, widely considered one of the greatest actors of his generation thanks to raw, Oscar-winning performances, died suddenly in 2014 from a drug overdose at age 46. In the years since, fans have continued mourning both the man and the incredible actor, including his absence from potential future roles like the cunning Dune shapeshifter Scytale or perhaps even Baron Vladimir Harkonnen.

Young Paul Atreides strides across the sands of Arrakis, the planet that will become the setting of his ascension. Although he has never before left his watery home planet of Caladan, the Fremen of Arakis seem to know him. “Lisan al-Gaib,” they shout at the sight of him, calling him a messiah. Although the Mentat Thufir Hawat dismisses the Fremen’s behavior as “Harkonnen’s rules,” Paul suspects the truth. His mother’s religious order, the Bene Gesserit have been seeding prophecies about him, preparing them for allegiance.
Although the above scene occurs early in Dune, it also points to a major theme across all of the Dune novels written by Frank Herbert. Paul is no mystical messiah, no god made flesh, but rather a product of social and political engineering, designed by the Bene Gesserit to create compliancy in the people.

“There exists no separation between gods and men; one blends softly casual into the other.” So reads the epigraph to the second chapter of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah, a quote attributed to the fictionalp Proverbs of Muad’dib. The same might be said of the separation between entries in the Dune saga, at least the first three books: Dune (1965), Dune Messiah (1969), and Children of Dune (1976). These three books tell the story of Paul Atreides, the man who becomes a leader, a messiah, and a tyrant.
For his adaptation of Dune, director Denis Villeneuve already separated the first book into two halves, with the first part releasing in 2021 and the second coming on March 1 of this year. However, many have wondered if the Canadian director would continue to work through Herbert’s oeuvre, at least for the first book’s immediate sequel.

Biblical epics used to be Hollywood's bread and butter. From "The Ten Commandments" to "Ben-Hur," the unique blend of high-stakes drama, and big-scale spectacle used to dominate the box office as well as awards season. Today, they've all but disappeared from the filmmaking landscape. This makes the release of a movie like "The Book of Clarence" all the more special.
Written and directed by Jeymes "The Bullitts" Samuel ("The Harder They Fall"), "The Book of Clarence" combines a biblical epic with the comedic tone of Monty Python's "Life of Brian" or Mel Brook's "History of the World," poking fun at the story of a rising messiah, and the man who sees that fame and power and decides to get some of that for himself.

Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve has insisted that after the second flick ‘Dune: Part Two’, which followed the 2021 epic war film, adapted from Frank Herbert’s original classic novel, ‘Dune Messiah’ will be his last outing if it’s green-lit, despite there being four more books.
He said: “Dune Messiah should be the last Dune movie for me”. Villeneuve will then turn his attention to adaptations of Stacy Schiff’s ‘Cleopatra’ and Arthur C. Clarke’s ‘Rendezvous With Rama’, reports Female First UK.
The director made the revelation to Time magazine. Actress Zendaya recently said she would “of course” return for ‘Dune 3’.
The 27-year-old actress is open to reprising her role of Chani in a potential ‘Dune Messiah’ film and insisted that she will work with the director again anytime he asks.

Dune: Part Two, the second half of director Denis Villeneuve’s two-part adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune, is now scheduled to be released on March 1st – but there are five more Herbert Dune novels that could serve as the basis for future films, and Villeneuve and his Dune stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya have all expressed interest in continuing the franchise. In an interview with Total Film magazine, Villeneuve said the ending of Dune: Part Two will set up the events of a third Dune film… if they get the chance to make it. He told Total Film, “All of the elements are there. But I think the movie adaptation is more tragic than the book. The way that Part Two ends… it would create a total balance and equilibrium to finish Paul’s storyline in what we could say in Part Three.“
Chalamet told Total Film, “The idea excites me very much.

The mystery of who killed six nuns in their convent and why deepens with Monsieur Spade Season 1 Episode 2.
All kinds of things around out of whack. There’s a nun who isn’t, a nosey neighbor, possibly with an ulterior motive, and a shooter who aims to scare rather than kill.
We also got a better idea of the guilt the residents of Bouzols carry with them because of what they did to get rid of Philippe and what anger Jean-Pierre is harboring toward Spade.
But let’s begin at the end when Teresa finally comes clean with Sam about what she witnessed the night before.
We don’t know much about Teresa or her father, but although she’s still desperate to feel loved or wanted by her father, she seems to have absorbed quite a bit from her relationship with Sam Spade.

Exclusive: The Book of Clarence, the Legendary and Jay Z-produced adventure-comedy, won’t be released in UK cinemas this week as planned.
The biblical epic has quietly dropped off the UK release schedule at the eleventh hour after initially being lined up for a January 19 release by Sony. UK exhibitors were set for a January 19 launch — the film has been listed on multiple cinema sites as opening this week — and marketing materials were deployed with a January 19 listing.
We understand a March release is now more likely. Sony is handling UK distribution, but we understand the decision to push back the release came from Legendary, which produced and financed the film.
News of the calendar switch comes after the pic recently opened stateside, taking just $3M over the 4-day MLK Jr. holiday weekend, giving the film a ninth-place debut on the charts. We hear that a later UK date...

The Book of Clarence, Jeymes Samuel’s follow-up to all-Black Western The Harder They Fall, is, without doubt, the funkiest biblical epic ever put on screen. The film, which opened across the U.S. on Friday, Jan. 12 — nicely nestled between Christmas and Easter — is a combination of comedy, drama and satire, at turns sacred and profane, a mash-up of Monty Python’s Life of Brian with sword-and-sandal epics of another era, from The Ten Commandments to The Robe.
Lakeith Stanfield leads an A-list cast — which includes James McAvoy, David Oyelowo, Anna Diop, Benedict Cumberbatch and Alfre Woodard — as the titular Clarence, a street hustler and religious skeptic in early A.D. Jerusalem who spots Jesus Christ preaching to the masses and thinks imitating a Messiah might be a way to make some easy cash. This is not your father’s biblical epic. Clarence likes to get high. A new video depicting former U.S. President Donald Trump as a messianic figure has spurred controversy within Iowa’s evangelical community.
This video is called “God Made Trump.” It imitates Paul Harvey’s famous “So God Made a Farmer” video.
On January 5, a week before the Iowa Republican caucuses, Trump posted the video on his Truth Social account.
“‘God Made Trump,'” he wrote in the caption.
The video had a piano score and started with a narrator speaking seriously.
“And on June 14, 1946, God looked down on his planned paradise, and said, ‘I need a caretaker,'” the video’s narrator stated while a black-and-white clip showing a view of the Earth was played. “So God gave us Trump.”
“God said, ‘I need somebody willing to get up before dawn, fix this country. Work all day. Fight the Marxists. Eat supper,'” the narrator continued. “‘Then go to the Oval...

Like the piscine Guild Navigator who gets wheeled out in a tank at the start of the movie, David Lynch‘s adaptation of the Frank Herbert novel Dune is neither fish nor fowl. Lynch gets to play with some rather dense world-building, but Herbert’s critique of charismatic leaders gets pushed to the side while the demands of ’80s sci-fi fantasy don’t allow the director to create what would later become his signature dream states. As a result, Lynch’s Dune pleased no one, least of all Lynch himself. And while the film has its fans, especially in light of Denis Villeneuve‘s more faithful blockbuster, it remains an outlier in both Lynch’s oeuvre and in the history of Dune adaptations.
Still, the legend goes that if studio meddling and post-production issues not come to bear, Lynch would have been able to put more of his stamp on the sequel Dune II.

And then there’s Jesus Christ himself, played with an air of near-silent cool by Nicholas Pinnock,...
