Disney is fast-tracking its update on Mulan. The movie now has a November 2, 2018 release date. Also announced today: The Mulan script will get a rewrite from husband-wife duo Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver, whose credits include Jurassic World and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Variety and THR reports of the Disney announcement made a point of mentioning that a Chinese actress will be cast in the role, and a global casting search is underway to find the actress for the part. This follows a preemptive petition recently launched called Tell Disney You Don’t Want a Whitewashed Mulan! that has over 100,000 signatures. Ming-Na Wen voiced Mulan in the 1998 movie. She’s now starring on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has a voice role in new Disney Xd series Milo Murphy’s Law. No word on whether they’ll attempt a live-action version of Mushu that’ll have to live...

Showing some love to her Japanese fans, Lily James showed up at the Ritz Carlton in Tokyo on Tuesday (April 7).
Joined by director Kenneth Branagh and actress Yukina Kinoshita, the “Downton Abbey” babe was in the house for a press conference to promote her new movie “Cinderella” and she looked lovely as she posed for pictures.
Lily told press she loved everything about playing the iconic princess- "I think it's sort of what we were talking about; this strength can come from within, this dignified strength and grace and also that in doing so she finds such joy and happiness in her life regardless of her situation, even if it's just talking to little Gus Gus [mouse]. But when I read the script I was sort of bowled over by the fact that it was such a truthful retelling of the fairytale without any tricks or twists really. It felt really...

Talking with Kenneth Branagh, the legendary director of "Hamlet," "Frankenstein" and "Thor," is such an effervescent, invigorating experience that the moment I got off the phone with him, I started imaging a vivid fantasy scenario where he taught me, "Kingsman"-like, how to become a proper English gentleman. He's that kind of classy.
I was talking to Branagh about his work as director of "Cinderella," a job that he got after the original filmmaker, Mark Romanek (known mostly for his visionary music video work), departed the project, leaving no one to locate Cinderella's lost glass slipper. In recent years, Branagh has gone from the director of Shakespeare adaptations to a hired gun for blockbusters like "Thor" and "Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit." It's been a fascinating and surprising career turn, which I talked to him about.
Branagh also addressed similarities between his film and the original animated Disney classic, why...

One of Once Upon a Time’s strengths is that it’s a series with a large cast full of diverse characters. No matter what, there’s at least one character on the show who you’ll like and root for, whether it’s Emma because of her determination, Hook because of his roguishness, or Regina because of her impractical yet stylish array of evil outfits.
Unfortunately, a large cast full of diverse characters is also one of its weaknesses. Inevitably some characters will get the shaft or get ignored in favor of more needless drama for Rumbelle (just let them be happy for once) or yet another attempt at Regina “redeeming” herself (spoiler alert: it never sticks.) These are the top ten characters that totally got the shaft during Once Upon a Time.
10. Every One Episode Character Ever
I’ll admit that this is cheating a bit (okay, it’s cheating a lot.

"Child of the Moon" conjured up another fiendishly good hour of Once Upon a Time, as the full moon came out and Red's wolfie ways showed their claws. Let's discuss, shall we?
Wolf Free No More It's been 28 years since Ruby's had to deal with a full moon curse and just when she needs it most, her red cloak disappears. Well, that's a problem.
But before the full moon comes into play, she gets asked out by Billy, aka Gus Gus from Cinderella. How cute is that? Unfortunately, a mouse is barely an appetizer for a wolf and even though Ruby turned down his date, I knew there was trouble ahead.
As Meghan Ory said when we chatted last week, does Ruby trust herself to love again? Or, more importantly, "does she trust herself not to eat somebody again?" Yikes!
Meanwhile, in Storybrooke past Red found her supposedly deceased mommy...
