Managed Preston North End in 1986 and Blackburn Rovers in 1999 but is
best known for his spell as assistant manager to Sir Alex Ferguson at
Manchester United between 1990 and 1999. Has also worked as a coach at
Swindon Town, Leeds United and has been part of the England coaching
staff.
Won the European Cup with Manchester United in 1968 as they defeated
Benfica, becoming the youngest British player to score in a major
European Final at just 19 years old.
Played Football for over 20 years with Manchester United, Arsenal,
Manchester City, Everton, Bolton Wanderers and spells in the USA with
Atalanta Cheifs, Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Minnesota Kicks between
1966 and 1984.
Underwent surgery in May 2004 to cure prostate cancer and this forced
him to miss England's European Championship campaign. He is thankfully
on the road to recovery.
