Days after footage of the remarkable rescue of a shipwrecked Nigerian sailor went viral, La-based Castlight Pictures has snapped up worldwide rights to the story.
Principals Mark Edwin Robinson and Dave Robinson announced the deal on December 5 in the wake of the extraordinary tale.
Harrison Okene, 29, survived for nearly three days in a four-feet air pocket in the belly of a sunken ship off the Nigerian coast last May before a team of specialised divers equipped with helmet cameras unexpectedly discovered him.
“We have been completely captivated by this story for months now while working with Harrison,” said Mark Edwin Robinson. “The intricate details of how this played out are so much more complex and phenomenal than anything that’s been reported thus far.
“The footage is just a glimpse of what happened, and we’re preparing to take this out to studios and financiers to tell the whole story from the perspective of those who were...

“I Will Follow You Into the Dark” heralds an interesting change in bad movie titling. Perhaps we have finally moved on from stealing song titles from the '60s, '70s, '80s, and even '90s, and commenced thievery from the 21st century. So long, “Something to Talk About,” “Pretty Woman,” and “My Girl”! Hello, “SexyBack,” “Idioteque,” and “Call Me Maybe”! Mark Edwin Robinson’s film turns to Ben Gibbard and Death Cab for Cutie for its title, and that is perhaps the first indicator that this heartbreak-tinged horror film will not be the most original of creations. It attempts to take the genre into a more romantic, spiritual direction, and while it does not succeed — on any level — it deserves credit for the attempt. (Admittedly, “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” is stronger than the film’s original title, “Into the Dark.”) Mischa Barton stars as — wait,...

Variety reports that Zero Gravity Films is teaming with Castlight Pictures for I Will Follow You Into the Dark, an indie romance/thriller starring Mischa Barton (who you probably remember most from her stint on the Fox show The O.C., a show which we all like to pretend we didn’t watch but actually did). The movie follows Barton’s character, depressed after the death of her parents, as she forms an unexpected romance with a new man.
When he disappears she, and I quote, “pursues him – even if it means walking across the threshold into death.” So she’s going to get into drugs? Or is she going to murder someone? Since it’s being called a thriller, either of those possibilities are valid at this point. Leah Pipes, Ryan Eggold, and Jaz Martin are also signed on to star from a script by Mark Robinson who will also be directing.

Linking the case of the missing girl and the missing students together, the detectives race to piece enough information together to find them alive."...

Why is it that only young college students get murdered in horror films? How come seniors are not attacked in their rocking chairs while they are in the middle of a game of Canasta or shuffle board? This reviewer would love to see a few senior citizens followed by serial killers while they try to drive away in their motorized wheel chair or while using their walker. Is horror becoming ageist? The Levenger Tapes, from New Films International, would say yes as this production continues the trend of murdering young folk as they travel out into the woods. This film is a "found footage" styled movie, where the killed film their own demise. Add in a tale of a missing girl and you have some suspense and maybe even some mystery. But this reviewer would still like to see a senior citizen chomping down on a villain or two with their dentures.
