Delia Lysander Hall is a writer and actress, known for her stage work, as well as her work on short films, recognized with a list of festival awards.
From a pied noir noble family in the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, she is the favorite child of an assassin turned writer-artist. She grew up divided between the family hideout in the Rocky Mountains and an old farmhouse outside Baltimore.
As a child, she became a classically trained actress. She acted in productions of DOUBT and THE CHILDREN'S HOUR at a top youth acting program. In the latter, she had the starring role. She also starred as Romaine Patterson in THE LARAMIE PROJECT, as well as played Miss Casewell in THE MOUSETRAP.
She wrote, directed, and played Satan in a "cousin" stage production to THE SATANIC VERSES, not based on the novel, but inspired by some of the same literary source material.
After studying ecology and evolutionary biology in college, she intended to become a field biologist. Unfortunately, an enemy of her grandmother tracked her down to her university, and she was forced to flee college and take refuge in the Jewish theater community.
While there, she wrote and acted in a satirical stage production of The Book of Esther, a political Purim Spiel. Mixed-race, part Black, she helped satirize gentrification.
Her grandmother suggested that she become a model, as other members of pied noir nobility had done. Listening to her, Delia Lysander Hall became a writer and actress in the film industry, as well as sometimes a filmmaker in her own right. Her work has been recognized by numerous film festivals and awards. She also writes short fiction and poetry.
