The Group B final took place on “The Masked Singer” Wednesday, May 1 on “The Soundtrack of My Life Night.” After singing their hearts out for panelists Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong and Rita Ora, Beets advanced to a Battle Royale against Gumball, but fell short and got eliminated from the competition. The root veggies with golden pipes were revealed to be award-winning “American Idol” alum Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken. Watch their unmasking above.
“It’s been amazing. We had a good time,” Ruben told host Nick Cannon during their unmasked interview. “It was a lot of fun. The audience was amazing.” The panelists could barely pick their jaws up off the ground after they all failed to guess this dynamic duo. “We loved being compared to some of the people you guessed,” Clay said. “They guessed Boyz II Men! The three women, Taj Johnson-George, Lelee Lyons and Coko Gamble, all agreed that the best way to ensure that the tour goes smoothly is to make sure that there are a lot of “Chick-fil-a and pajama parties.”
Johnson-George also shared that it is vital to stick “with the course and grow with it,” which, she admits, is “just such a blessing to be able to stay in this industry to even be able to say 31 years.” The two other ladies agreed with this, nodding their heads. Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff, one half of the rap duo Timbaland & Magoo who had a hit “Up Jumps Da Boogie” from their platinum 1997 debut album Welcome to Our World, has died at 50. Timothy “Timbaland” Mosley and others confirmed the news on social media but did not give details.
Timbaland & Magoo met as teenagers in Norfolk, Va and broke out with “Up Jumps Da Boogie,” which featured Missy Elliott and Aaliyah and reached No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100. It made the Top 5 of the R&b chart as the album rose to No. 33. Another single from the disc, “Clock Strikes,” reached the pop Top 40 and No. 24 on the R&b tally.
The duo’s follow-up album, 2001’s Indecent Proposal, peaked at No. 29 and sold more than 350,000 copies but failed to spawn a chart single. That came after their track “We At It Again” was featured on the Romeo Must Die soundtrack in 2000.

While her sister Halle has been kept in the bright spotlight recently, Chloe Bailey, 24, has taken a step forward to share it.
On Monday night, one-half of the Chloe X Halle duo headlined the “Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom” concert. The event took place at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles.
Chloe performed “What’s Love Got To Do With It” in honor of the late Tina Turner. The 24-year-old wore a tattered shimmering red dress, similar to Turner’s 1978 flame dress designed by Bob Mackie. Turner died of natural causes last month.
Others in attendance were Vice President Kamala Harris and performers Charlie Wilson, Nelly, Miguel, Kirk Franklin, Swv, Davido, Coi Leray and Jodeci.

Juneteenth, which falls on June 19, commemorates the fall of slavery in the United States.
It celebrates the anniversary of the order made by Major General Gordon Granger on June 1965 that proclaimed freedom for slaves in Texas. The order was actually made two years after Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
In a tweet Monday, former President Obama explained it as the “delayed but welcome news of freedom reaching the enslaved Black folks in Galveston, Texas.” In 2021, President Biden made Juneteenth a federal holiday.
Many networks are marking the occasion with Juneteenth TV specials or movie marathons showcasing Black talent and/or excellence. See our viewing guide below:

There's something particularly profound about Mary J. Blige holding her Strength of a Woman festival in the heart of Black culture's mecca. This year, the queen of hip-hop soul returned to Atlanta from May 11-14 for her second annual "by us for us" event - an uplifting, fulfilling, and fun-filled experience that catered to every woman in attendance. And boy, did they have a time.
The best way to describe the Strength of a Woman festival is like a warm hug from your family matriarch, welcoming you with open arms for the most captivating weekend of your life. While there have been some comparisons from onlookers who see the festival as a mini Essence Fest, Blige's second iteration of her brainchild - in partnership with Pepsi and Live Nation Urban - is building its own unique identity. In the ’90s, girl groups like Xscape and Swv dominated the radio and charts with hits like “Just Kickin’ It” and “Weak.”
Now in their late forties and early fifties, the members of Xscape and Swv are still kickin’ it, though their legs admittedly might be a little weaker.
TheWrap caught up with the legendary girl groups ahead of their new Bravo docuseries “Swv & Xscape: The Queens of R&b,” which premieres Sunday. The six-episode series will chronicle the two groups as they plan a tour, which hinges on whether they can overcome their interpersonal drama.
How is touring more difficult now than it was when you were first starting out?
Taj: I used to be able to drop it like it was hot 24 hours a day! Now I could drop it almost halfway and I struggle and gotta hold something to get back up.
Coko: I have really bad knees.

This year’s BET Awards experienced a boost from last year’s numbers, drawing in 3.2 million viewers across a simulcast of 10 Paramount Global networks on Sunday.
This marks a 34 jump in viewership from 2021, when BET’s in-person ceremony brought in only 2.4 million viewers across multiple outlets. In comparison, the 2020 BET Awards (which were held virtually) averaged 3.7 million people, in large part due to simulcasting with CBS. (CBS didn’t return as a partner in 2021 or 2022.)
BET averaged 2.1 million viewers out of this year’s total 3.2 million. The rest of the viewership came from other Paramount cablers including Comedy Central, MTV, TV Land and VH1. According to BET, the ceremony is also the No. 1 awards show on cable in the key adults 18-49 demographic, while also becoming the best-performing telecast ever on BET’s digital platforms, with 103 million social views.

The 2022 BET Awards are being handed out Sunday night.
The show kicked off with host Taraji P. Henson, presenter Janelle Monae and best female R&b/pop artist winner Jazmine Sullivan all addressing the recent Supreme Court decision to reverse the Roe v. Wade ruling within the first 17 minutes of the show.
“Guns have more rights than a woman,” Henson said in her monologue. “It’s a sad day in America. A weapon that can take lives has more power than woman who can give life, if she chooses to.”
Monae gave the middle finger and said, “Fuck you, Supreme Court” (the swear word was bleeped), while Sullivan called on males to support females in fighting for their rights.
Heading into the show, Doja Cat leads the nominations with a total of six mentions, including best female R&b/pop artist and best female hip-hop artist.

The music video for Megan Thee Stallion's hit song "Plan B" has finally arrived. The blacked-out Casey Cadwallader and John Miserendino-directed visual spotlights the rapper as the solo star while she recites her unapologetic lyrics in a black cutout Mugler jumpsuit.
"Dear f*ck n***a, still can't believe I used to f*ck wit' ya / poppin' Plan B's 'cause I ain't planned to be stuck wit' ya," she raps in the video. ". . . Ladies, love yourself, 'cause this sh*t could get ugly / That's why it's, 'F*ck n***as, get money!'" Megan's gritty track samples Jodeci and Wu-Tang Clan's famous "Freek'n You Remix."
Her new song released on April 22, right after the Houston hottie graced the stage during the first weekend of Coachella. She debuted a brief snippet of the track, which she described as a "very motherf*cking personal" song dedicated "to whom it may the f*ck concern.

The video sees the rapper spilling some serious tea about a former love while rapping her head bop-worthy verses straight into the camera. Whoever Meg wrote the song about should be hella scared.
“Still can’t believe I used to fuck with ya/Poppin Plan Bs ’cause I ain’t planned to be stuck with ya,” she raps in the first verse. “Damn,...

Per the show’s logline, the comedy follows Amy (Woodward) who, after being dumped by her boyfriend and kicked out of her apartment on the eve of a big promotion, finds refuge at her mom Helen’s (Lynch) house in the blue-collar neighborhood where she grew up. Sean “Diddy” Combs penned an emotional tribute to Andre Harrell, the music executive and Uptown Records founder who died Thursday from heart failure at age 59.
“I honestly still can’t believe it,” Combs wrote on Instagram. “I’ve got to give myself the reality of this in doses. Because I can’t even handle this. I hope to God that you are all blessed to have someone in your life that loves you and believes in you like this man believed in me.… I’m going to miss him so much.

Life After Pop is a tricky proposition, especially for those who are thrown into Top 40’s tornado at a young age. But in some cases, an early, disenchanting brush with the commercial mainstream can be galvanizing, providing a source of direction — even if it’s just away from what came before.
Take Ryan Beatty. As a teen, he racked up millions of views with YouTube cover songs, then jumped headlong into the Top 40 pop game, turned against it, and split from his management. No surprise, then, that two years ago...

Did Tristan Thompson's alleged mistress Lani Blair have him in her sights long before the reports of his infidelity made headlines? Was she sending out cryptic messages to him months before she was reportedly spotted with him in New York City? Perhaps… if he's the subject of some of her cryptic Instagram posts. As Lani donned a gray bodycon dress and posted a mirror selfie, she added this caption: "Every time I see you walking by I get a thrill… You don't notice me but in time you will.

“I haven’t spoken to Rolling Stone in 14 years,” Sisqo says jovially, by way of introduction. After releasing two albums with his group Dru Hill – 1996’s eponymous debut and 1998’s Enter the Dru – the singer became a household name for 2000’s “Thong Song,” the second single off his debut album, Unleash the Dragon. It would eventually hit Number Three on the Billboard Top 100, and it remains an indelible turn-of-the-century aural capsule, a perpetual soundtrack to our collective spring break.

The saga continues. Sean Combs – who has put out records under the names Puff Daddy, P. Diddy and Diddy and who has appeared in movies using his own name and a few Diddy-like variations thereof – has decided to come full circle and resume using the Puff Daddy name. The moniker change-up will accompany a new album, reportedly named Mmm, according to Radio.com. It will be the rapper’s first album since 2010’s Last Train to Paris, but does not currently have a release date.
