Jacqueline Cox(III)
- Music Department
- Music Artist
A breath of fresh air to lovers of Hip Hop from a feminine perspective, Jacqueline Cox (J Goddess) is a Queen of all things lyrically. In a genre dominated by masculinity, J Goddess brings forth a sound that any Hip Hop head will adore. A poet and lyricist in its most pure form, only respect can be given to this talent that is J Goddess. A conscious rapper, leader, seeker, and believer, J Goddess has met with adversities in life and tossed them in pit laced with truth filled lyrics. Now based in Greenwood, SC and inspired to be boldly different as she continues to set herself apart from what has already been and what will be, J Goddess is the "Diamond" whose shine will continue to resonate for generations to come. She was born March 16, 1992 in Virginia Beach, Virginia and raised in Chesapeake, Ohio where she went on to become the first minority homecoming queen of her school.
Outside of music, she gained traction throughout a 7.5 year Amazon tenure that began as a temporary Customer Service job in Huntington, WV and evolved into a program management position at the Amazon HQ in Seattle, WA. When she left the company in January 2021, she climbed the Amazon ranks to become a Program Manager supporting multi billion dollar Subscribe and Save business overseeing FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon). During her time with the company, she not only supported Amazon's external customers, but also those within the company. Footage can be found on Youtube of Jacqueline (J Goddess) at the Amazon corporate office giving a "spark talk" where she was introduced as the first employee in Amazon history to have an email from former CEO Jeff Bezos, who not only condoned the Amazon rap song she made, but also encouraged her to keep being a good role model. She went on to become the first cast of Amazon's Got Talent, an effort to showcase the power and creativity behind Amazon's workforce. The footprint of her momentum became evident when celebrity guest judge, Sir Mix A Lot, advanced the mystic rapper to the final round of the talent competition within minutes of stepping foot on the stage. At this stage, the artist had already released music independently for over a decade and was able to leverage this moment of endorsement to catapult her presence in the industry.
Before the debut of her first major Sony Pictures soundtrack (2019), she continued to plow away at her Amazon career while keeping music as a focus on the side. Towards the end of her 7.5 year tenure at Amazon, she improved the operational metrics of the program she managed, designed automation that drove a significant reduction in waste/manual errors, and reduced the technical errors by -64%. Prior to promotion to the Amazon headquarters, she worked as a Digital Specialist providing Kindle Tech support back when Amazon released the first touch device, and when Amazon's first model Kindle was still within manufacture's warranty. Similar to the extinction of the rotary phone, book readers evolved from "electronic ink devices" into tablets, smartphones, and eventually Alexa. Meanwhile, Jacqueline was on the phone talking to customers, using her voice to make a living. While the narrative of what it looks like to get paid for "voice work", did not encompass the inner workings or experiences she had on her journey through the ranks of Amazon, the work she accomplished in tandem with real life experience - is what gave her a voice.
She began taking college classes in high school with a focus around social sciences and humanitarian studies. Though she wishes to someday resume her pursuit to further her education - she reached a master's degree level of profession, with no degree.
While simultaneously pursuing music, her role as a program manager continued to stretch her mentality so much that her influence became prominent in the world of technology. She became confident as a social scientist, devoted a majority of her life to her online shopping, and used her passion for Amazon to grow herself as an artist. She refers to herself, " actress that isn't acting".
She identified mechanisms that once deployed, drove a reduction in subscription cancellations, increased subscription creations, and accelerated revenue growth and product awareness for brands like Athletic Greens, Goli Nutrition Gummies, and Best Bully Sticks. She worked closely with software developers on architecture, design, and framework. She built and launched a new subscriber email that is still sent to first time Subscribe and Save customers to this day, in 2023. She taught herself SQL, and conducted controlled studies (a/b testing) that measure engagement of new subscriptions, led a strategic project to overhaul all customer facing Subscribe & Save emails and was trusted to improve clarity of communication and effectiveness, led a team of operations specialists to perform FBA support functions, led a Voice of Customer and Voice of Seller newsletter to highlight hidden issues in the pipeline, oversaw an entire FBA Subscribe and Save road map from 2020 to 2021, all without former training. How far will she go in the entertainment industry if she applies the same energy and devotion to music, film and tv?
She gained a rare and extensive background in nearly every segment of Amazon business, and was able to cascade that insight into the music industry. She left the company in January 2021, but her music stayed with Amazon. In March of 2022, her original single from 2013 titled, "Diamonds", aired in season 1 episode 4 of Lizzo's Amazon Original dance competition, "Big Grrrls". Now an Academy Award winning series, this soundtrack puts Jacqueline Cox right next to Lizzo and Cardi B. J Goddess hopes to soon have her opportunity to stand at the forefront of the industry, and no longer in the background or behind the scenes.
