Sierra Madre Image Showcases Kiefer Sutherland's Return To Action As Hopes Continue For His 24 Movie Return
Image
Kiefer Sutherland returns his action roots in a new Sierra Madre image as hopes remain high he'll return for a 24 movie. Directed by Justin Chadwick, Sierra Madre stars Sutherland as Captain Jordan Wright, the leader of an elite squadron who finds himself in a battle with violent cartels after he and his men take leave for a wedding in Mexico. Delbert Hancock and Ian Mackenzie Jeffers penned the script for the film, which also stars Ashton Sanders, Laura Osma, Solly McLeod, and Omar Chaparro, among others.

Screen Daily now provides a first look at Sutherland in Sierra Madre, which they say is currently filming in Colombia. The image features Sutherland, sporting a beard and wearing a black jacket in a jungle-like environment, holding a submachine gun and looking worriedly at something off-screen. No other cast members are present in the image, unfortunately, but the star certainly looks right at home back in the action genre.

Every Batman Movie & TV Show In Development
Image
As one of DC's most iconic superheroes, Batman continues to be featured in a variety of movies and TV shows. Gotham's Dark Knight debuted in DC Comics in 1939's Detective Comics #27, and has since become one of the most recognizable characters in comic book history. Currently, a number of live-action and animated projects are in development featuring the Caped Crusader or his supporting characters, with a new actor set to take on the role in James Gunn and Peter Safran's new DC Universe when the upcoming The Brave and the Bold movie hits theaters in the coming years.

Between theatrical releases, live-action TV shows, and animated series, there are options a-plenty for where audiences can see Batman in the next few years. While Batman might often surround himself with super-powered individuals, Bruce Wayne himself has no extraordinary gifts aside from access to advanced technology and a deep well of money.

Image
There is a whole new Batman in town.

Despite that familiar name, upcoming “Aztec Batman: The Clash of Empires” will introduce an original hero, assured its team during their riotous presentation at Annecy.

Overseen by Warner Bros. Animation and DC, the film is produced in Mexico in partnership with Ánima and Chatrone.

“This is a bold project,” admitted director Juan Meza-León, joined on stage by character designer Marvick Núñez and art director Diego Olascoaga. Promising an alternate take on the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, but also opening up about his protagonist’s surprising yet apparently historically accurate look.

“No big jaw, no big shoulders. Slimmer. A little less Schwarzenegger, a little more Bruce Lee. We had to focus on the man underneath the armor,” he said.

“We wanted to be true to the story we were telling. We hired an expert on Aztec matters, who was advising us every step of the way,...

The Black Demon Trailer Breakdown: Nature Bites Back
Image
Movies based on mythologies and told legends are usually an excellent source of entertainment because, unlike pure fiction, we believe those creatures used to exist/are still living somewhere in the world. Movies like Jaws, The Meg, and Troll depict these notions accurately by displaying these creatures' terrifying capabilities. The Black Demon, an upcoming film, offers a similar scenario about a Mexican legend.

The plot of The Black Demon revolves around Paul Sturges (Omar Chaparro), who combines work with a family vacation by taking his family to an oil rig off the coast of Mexico. However, upon his arrival, he discovers that the town has changed and is now filled with a dark atmosphere reminiscent of a ghost town. Despite warnings from locals about the "black demon shark," Paul takes his family to the oil rig only to become stuck there with no way out. Paramount Movies have released the...

Broken English Prods.: Aiming to Fix the Latinx Imbalance on Screen and Behind the Scenes
Image
If there’s been one constant about Latino representation in Hollywood, it’s been the abysmal representation that has barely shifted in decades.

Despite some gains in recent years, a 2019 study from the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative revealed that underrepresentation and stereotypical roles for U.S.-based Latinx talent are, sadly, still the norm.

Enter Broken English Prods., a fledgling Latinx production company, which hopes to “change the narrative,” in the words of its CEO Christopher Acebo. The new shingle joins Lionsgate’s Pantelion and other companies in addressing the paucity of Latinx films.

Broken English forms part of new entertainment finance company Grandave Capital (Gc), launched by film financier Stanley Preschutti in June, which has boarded projects as a third-party equity investor but has also plowed considerable funding to its new Latinx production arm.

Gc aims to invest some $20 million in up to four Broken English projects a year...
